Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

I generally shower in the evenings so I always air dry - I shower, wrap up in a towel and go up to my bedroom. I then spend a lovely 20/30 minutes just relaxing on my bed, maybe watching a bit of telly or reading my book before slipping in to toasty PJs (that have been warming on the radiator while I relaxed) and getting in to bed.

if I need to shower in the morning it's usually more of a rush so I usually have a quick rub down with a towel to get rid of most of the water before I get out of the shower but then I wrap up in my towel and spend a few minutes airdrying while I get everything sorted for the day - fix my hair, chuck a load of washing in etc

Sweetiedarlingletmein · 30/12/2017 12:31

I like to dry off naturally too. Pre baby I loved having a leisurely long shower then sitting on the bed reading or watching tv for a good half hour before getting dressed. My DH however, dries off in the bathroom which I think is madness as surely you can’t get dry in a steamy bathroom?

Jaxhog · 30/12/2017 12:38

You're not alone. I do this too.

CurryWorst · 30/12/2017 12:42

I think you all must have very warm homes? If you tried to dry naturally in my house you would be waiting a long time, you'd bloody freeze!
I have to dry while still in the shower, its too cold to get out wet.

LilGblue · 30/12/2017 13:22

Snap mscherry! Towel on, dressing gown over top, do my makeup, dry my hair, towel off and get dressed.

Jedbartletforpresident · 30/12/2017 14:51

I feel that for the most part this seems to be a female thing. A few posters have mentioned their DH/DPs drip drying, but the majority seem to suggest their male OHs towel dry while they sit to dry.

My DH also manages to rub off a great many hairs in the process of towel drying which he then needs to pick up off the bathroom floor. I feel that air/drip/naturally-drying would result in less hair-loss and therefore less cleaning up afterwards

as we dont use central heating i like to wrap up come downstairs for a warm and dry by fire my skin is too sensitive to be rubbed

MissDuke · 30/12/2017 15:00

I do this and stay wrapped in the towel while blow drying my hair. If it is a quick shower without hair washing then I just dry quickly with the towel. I do prefer to air dry though!

KimchiLaLa · 30/12/2017 15:01

I do that. I sit on my bed and take ten minutes on my phone to just chill out.

DrFoxtrot · 30/12/2017 15:03

Do all you air driers have to do creases with a towel (arse crack, under boobs etc) - how do they adequately air dry?! How can you not feel dry after rubbing with a towel Confused

Hidingtonothing · 30/12/2017 15:29

DH has always done this but I'm a fairly recent convert. Hadn't realised how much I hated drying with a towel until I stopped! I do other stuff while I dry (although I don't bother with a towel, just wander round in the buff til I air dry) moisturise my face, comb my hair etc so the times not wasted and I'm not bored. My skin seems to be getting more sensitive and itchy as I get older so i can do without aggravating it uneccessarily Grin

LBOCS2 · 30/12/2017 15:38

I sit on the bed to air dry. Read my book, play on my phone, sometimes have a nice cosy catnap.

FWIW my thermostat is set to 15, so my house is not Sahara-like. You carry the residual heat from the shower, your own body heat helps dry, and the towel gets the drips as you put it on. Plus I run warm.

streetlife70s · 30/12/2017 15:40

I never rub. I sit in towel for the best part of an hour doing hair and makeup before getting dressed so I’m fully dry by that time.

Maelstrop · 30/12/2017 15:40

I do it too! I can’t be bothered to carefully dry individual toes like the DH does.

Birdshitbridgegotme · 30/12/2017 15:47

I'm the same but while im drying I'm normally doing my hair and then makeup and by the 20 mins that takes I'm dry

ImAMarshmellow · 30/12/2017 16:07

Have been known to dry myself with a hairdryer before.

I do your version if I've had a bath. Usually because the water is so hot I'm practically cooking :)

The 'regular' version if I've had a shower and need to get ready.

MsHomeSlice · 30/12/2017 16:07

I have come back to say I have NEVER had athletes foot, or any damp cracks and am an confirmed wafter/air dryer/NON towel rubber!

and yes...out of shower, wrap in towel and or robe, then there.s plenty to be doing until I am dry...face cream, teeth, lenses, jewels on, sort laundry into piles, hide dh's socks, faff about shaking bed clothes about....all sorts of things to do!

Spangles1963 · 30/12/2017 18:07

Me too! Only bits I actively dry are armpits and bits down there. Everywhere else just dries as I sit wrapped in as towel or bathrobe for 10 minutes while I sort my extremely annoying and uncooperative hair out.

GreyMorning · 30/12/2017 19:48

I wrap myself in towel, dressing gown over the top to hold towel on and sit down to do my make up.

You are right!

Ivy79 · 30/12/2017 19:50

I don't do it, nor does DH, but I have seen a few people do it, and it's not rare.

MsHopey · 30/12/2017 19:53

I am a "drip dryer". I agree that swimming is crap as i still feel damp after rubbing dry.
My DH rubs himself dry and thinks I'm mad and lazy with it too. Nothing like a good sit in a towel

Snowman41 · 30/12/2017 19:56

think you all must have very warm homes?

Well yes, as it happens, I do have a warm home. Isn't that relatively normal though?

mybreastsarentbest · 30/12/2017 20:01

If you moisturize your body, when do you put the lotion on? Does drip drying eliminate the need for moisturizer?

MissMurielStacy · 30/12/2017 20:08

I do this too. I'll have a cuppa and sit wrapped up in my towel for a good 15 mins or so.
I love to swim but hate the getting dry and dressed but afterwards!

goose1964 · 30/12/2017 20:11

I rub my arms and legs and let my torso dry wrapped in a towel
