I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

Same... kinda. Dressing gown

HolgerDanske · 30/12/2017 11:08

I do both. I rub my shoulders/arms and my lower legs just briefly. Then I sit around in my towel until the rest of me is dry.

HermioneAndMsJones · 30/12/2017 11:10

Well I don’t sit down whilst I’m drying but I am wrapped around the towel whilst I prepare my clothes etc...
And no I dont ‘dry’ myself either.

Orangedragonfly · 30/12/2017 11:11

My son does this. The other morning he was running very late for college was outraged that I suggested he just dry himself rather than air dry. I semi do this.

HermioneAndMsJones · 30/12/2017 11:12

TBH, I think it’s better than what my dcs do, which is to NOT rub their shoulders or legs but they don’t wrap themsleves in the towel either.
So it’s their t-shirt or pj that is ‘drying’ them....

PurplePillowCase · 30/12/2017 11:13

but yoh have to dry your feet well or you will get athletes foot?

liquidrevolution · 30/12/2017 11:14

I shake myself dry, wrap my towel around me, turban on head, add dressing gown and sit at my desk surfing net of listening to music.

For DD I wrap her in big warm towel and cuddle her dry. DH rubs her dry and she hates it.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 30/12/2017 11:15

Doing it now, just had a shower, bathrobe on making coffee. Will get dressed when make up on and hair dried.

Thought that's what many women did. All men I've known tend to dry with a towel and ready to go in a few minutes.

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/12/2017 11:16

I do it if I have time. It's nice to stop for a few minutes and just sit, or read/Mumsnet etc, instead of having to rush rush rush all the time.

MsWanaBanana · 30/12/2017 11:16

I sit in my towel unless I'm really in a rush. If it's really cold, I've been known to get under the covers for a bit too 😂

TheSoapyFrog · 30/12/2017 11:17

I do the same too. Never seem to get properly dry rubbing with a towel.

Mumsymcmumface · 30/12/2017 11:17

but yoh have to dry your feet well or you will get athletes foot?

And armpits, backs of knees, arse cheeks, groin etc?

Sounds cheesetastic and pretty disgusting to be honest. I am forever telling my kids to dry themselves prepped LG so they don’t end up stinking and it turns out loads of adults don’t bother. Grim

RestingBitchFaced · 30/12/2017 11:17

I always do this - every time

AdalindSchade · 30/12/2017 11:18

I get the itch too so I wait until I'm completely dry before putting clothes or pyjamas on and I never rub with the towel.

AdalindSchade · 30/12/2017 11:19

mumsy when you come out of the shower you are clean. Towel drying doesn't make you cleaner.

OvO · 30/12/2017 11:20

The only parts I actively dry are my feet! So I can put socks on asap.

My DH is a vigorous drier while I air dry. But we make it work. Wink

emwithme · 30/12/2017 11:22

You lay towels on the bed, and settle down with FB or MN for twenty minutes or however long it takes, listening to the radio.

This is the ONLY way to dry

DameSquashalot · 30/12/2017 11:30

I dab and then dry properly in my dressing gown. That’s one of the reasons why I hate swimming- no time to dry properly.

DrSeuss · 30/12/2017 11:32

i shower, wrap my hair in a towel, dry my face, then iron my clean shirt/make breakfast/make the kids' breakfast or similar. By the time I'm finished, my hair is well on the way to dry and the rest of me is pretty dry too.

DameSquashalot · 30/12/2017 11:32

Mumsy 🤨

TheWhyteRoseShallRiseAgain · 30/12/2017 11:35

I do this! Giant fluffy warm bath sheet and flop on bed and read. After a rare swim I wrap in towel and get kids sorted by which time I'm dried (cubicle changing rooms are the only way!)

maddiemookins16mum · 30/12/2017 11:36

I put a towel round me, sit and put cream on my face, towel dry and brush my hair, ped egg my feet all still in the towel. I'm usually pretty dry by then so just pat dry the still wet bits. I've never totally towel dried myself (except after a swimming session).

KinkyAfro · 30/12/2017 11:38

Sit in a towel whilst I dry my hair, am dry by then

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 30/12/2017 11:40

Why are the options air dry or vigorous rub? I pat dry and have sensitive skin that itches if not looked after properly
