I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

hungryradish · 30/12/2017 11:42

I do the same :D

Racheyg · 30/12/2017 11:43

I stay in my towel until my hair and make up is done. I hate getting all hot while getting ready.

XmasInTintagel · 30/12/2017 11:46

! If I'm really naughty I get into bed damp!
That is very naughty, I couldn't, I just couldn't do that! [Grin]

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/12/2017 11:48

I'm a drip dryer too! Hate the feeling of not being fully dry when you dry yourself with the towel.

happymummy12345 · 30/12/2017 11:50

No, I get dry as quickly as possible, and put my dressing gown on.

Dahlietta · 30/12/2017 11:51

Yes, I do this too. This is also the reason that I insist on having 'bathsheet' towels rather than those horrible little normal-sized things beloved of DH and his family.

Carouselfish · 30/12/2017 11:52

I've never had a house that had the heating cranked up enough to do that!
Do it in hotels though.

thecatsthecats · 30/12/2017 11:54

I sit on the shower seat for about ten minutes, brush off the worst drips and then line on the bed another 10m, writing or emailing etc. I don't feel properly dry until I've aired out so the towel wouldn't do it for me.

Lucked · 30/12/2017 11:55

I only do this at my in laws as they use fabric conditioner on towels so whilst they feel soft and fluffy they are only useful for smearing water around. My towels are supper absorbent and dry really well.

Dahlietta · 30/12/2017 11:55

Do you live in the land of eternal Winter, Carouselfish? Wink

LEMtheoriginal · 30/12/2017 11:55

Well I'm just sitting on my phone drying off after a shower . Your dh is wrong!!

Bingpot · 30/12/2017 11:56

Totally with you OP! My DH thinks it's really weird Grin

Elledouble · 30/12/2017 12:03

I do that! I wrap myself in my towel and brush my teeth/wash my face/moisturise and by the time all that is done I can dab any damp bits dry and get dressed!

My partner thinks this is weird and spends ages scrubbing himself dry (including an inordinate amount of time polishing his penis). I don’t understand why it takes him so long. Maybe cos he’s pretty hairy!

GummyGoddess · 30/12/2017 12:05

No, I can't stand just drying by doing nothing! It reminds me of being sweaty and feels extremely unpleasant.

Do you all not drip water everywhere? I dry off while still standing in the shower, drying my feet before stepping onto the bath mat or water will go everywhere.

Falconhoof1 · 30/12/2017 12:05

I love sitting drying! It's a fairly recent luxury as when kids were younger I did everything as far as I could. It's much nicer to air dry!

Falconhoof1 · 30/12/2017 12:06

That should be as fast as I could

cloudyweewee · 30/12/2017 12:07

YANBU. I have a towelling bathrobe so when I get out of the shower, I just put that on and make a cup of tea, feed my cat etc When on holiday I always find it weird to have to get dried straight away. The best hotel I ever stayed in was one where towelling robes were supplied so I didn;t have to faff about drying myself with a towel.

Gwenhwyfar · 30/12/2017 12:11

"But what do you do in the 10 minutes you're sat there in a towel? Isn't it really boring - and cold? "

Dry my hair.
On a weekend day, I'll also go on MN or something.
Haven't dried myself with a towel since I was a small child. I put body lotion on after the shower so wouldn't want to rub it off.

Snowman41 · 30/12/2017 12:17

I wipe off the excess water with a small towel then wrap myself in a massive bath sheet and sit on the bed for anything between 10 mins and an hour (on a good day) then I put clean pjs on until I am ready to go out.

DH is an utter weirdo who showers, towel dries then puts his clothes on whether we are going out or not Shock

I can't bear to towel dry and attempt to put clothes on a not quite dry body.

llangennith · 30/12/2017 12:18

Me too! In answer to a pp I never use fabric conditioner on towels and however absorbent and fluffy the towel I never feel properly dry unless I’ve just sat in my towel and/or bathrobe for a while. I may wander round tidying up or whatever but really don’t like the whole rubbing yourself dry thing.

RavenLG · 30/12/2017 12:19

DP does this. He has a robe that is made from toweling material and just wraps himself up in it when he gets out of the shower, then uses towel to scrub the ever loving shit dry his hair (he's got long hair). I'm a proper dryer. I need crunchy towels to soak up every last drop of damp. I hate sitting around in wet, foisty towels. I need to by dry and warm straight away.

DonutDiv · 30/12/2017 12:21

I towel dry, get dressed half dry.
I sometimes use the hairdryer to dry my feet.

To the itchers/scratchers - Do you use shower gel? Its supposed to be harsh.

SoupDragon · 30/12/2017 12:23

I put on a bath robe and dry my hair. By the time I’ve done that, I’m dry.

HazelBite · 30/12/2017 12:25

Towel and robe for me, DH sits on the bed and frequently falls asleep whilst wrapped in a towel.

OuaisMaisBon · 30/12/2017 12:27

Towel and towelling dressing gown. Live in a warm climate (currently 21 deg C in the shade, windows open) but I used to do it when I lived in the frozen north, as long as the place was warm enough. The husband thinks I'm lazy, as I just lie on the bed and read for quite a long time whilst drying after my shower.
