Then this morning, 6 year old ds snuck down and opened up all his presents sigh*
Before everyone else was up..Cue upset.
Then the thing that was supposed to install in seconds took 2 and a half hours to build Hmm
Tell me its not just me....care to share your bad Christmas day stories?

My one year old has chicken pox Hmm meaning we are planning shifts with relatives who have/haven't had it!! Hope the rest of your day is better

tissuesosoft · 25/12/2017 14:42

We had to get an OOH appointment and find a pharmacy that was open- DD has conjunctivitis 😫

Rainbowsandflowers78 · 25/12/2017 14:44

My very young children did not sleep a wink, literally at all, last night (teething and sickness) we are all absolutely exhausted tired and grumpy and not enjoying the day at all

Hannahfftl · 25/12/2017 14:48

My elderly dog pissed on my bed in the night and I woke up at 5am with a wet leg and had to wash the bedding and sleep on the sofa. Oh well!

PositivelyPERF · 25/12/2017 14:51

My little dog has colitis and shit all over my youngest's bed. The vet will be £150 just for call out. He's starving, but refusing to eat rice, then he managed to get into the cat bowl. Ffs!

PositivelyPERF · 25/12/2017 14:52

Lol Hannah, I'm a slow typist, but X post. 😄

ThePinkPanter · 25/12/2017 14:54

My wee dog has a bug and vomited and had diahorrrea on the bedroom carpet before I had a chance to get him out of it. At 4am

yousignup · 25/12/2017 14:59

Ex DH didn't call, so we called him. He spent last night in A and E with appendicitis, so we have been hospital visiting. Christmas dinner all dried up, but it's not the end of the world.

GoulashSoup · 25/12/2017 15:01

My 11 month old has a vomiting bug so I was woken at 4am by being vomed on. He has spewed continuously. We have mountains of sheets to wash and I have showered twice. All a bit gutted as we were having a big family Christmas with the inlaws. MIL and FIL we’re coming to our new house for brunch, I stayed up till 2am setting the table etc. We were then headed to BIL, he has even been out and bought plates and spoons etc for the kids for Christmas Dinner. Instead we have had ham sandwiches and will be missing the family buffet and taking DS1 to the rugby for the first time tomorrow in case we are all still infectious.

Trying to find the silver lining and appreciate being just us four, but feeling awful for my poorly floppy little one, and guilty that the inlaws are not getting to enjoy the children.

My friend lost her mum a week ago so I am trying to keep perspective.

I have a broken arm Grin

PositivelyPERF · 25/12/2017 15:16

All these boaking and shitting dogs! 🐶 Good job we love the little buggers.

Hope your sick little baby feels better soon, Soup.

I have a broken arm grin I hope that means you're not doing the cooking and instead sitting drinking wine, to null the pain of course. 😉🍷🍷🍷🍷

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 25/12/2017 15:28

We have no heating or hot water, haven't had any since 23rd and won't have any til 27th due to suppliers being closed. It's our baby's 1st Christmas & my IL's who own our flat, served us notice to quit yesterday (yep, Christmas Eve) and have given us to the end of feb to move. My partner's step father also actually squared up to me whilst I was holding my baby and then called my wife a bitch.

genehuntswife · 25/12/2017 15:30

Dear mumsnet, thank you , thank you, thank you.......for proving that not everyone’s Christmas is a Facebook one, it’s the one thing that’s made me smile properly today.
It’s a real day with real people and real shit
Amen

genehuntswife · 25/12/2017 15:31

Except you slap..... that’s horrible

TammySwansonTwo · 25/12/2017 15:32

My oven broke halfway through making Christmas dinner. Merry bloody Christmas.

RandyMarsh · 25/12/2017 15:36

Toddler puked all over me at 3am and has been ill and miserable all day!

I'm just slowly making my way through the prosecco.

pastabakewithcheese · 25/12/2017 15:38

I think I have messed up the roast beef recipe SadSad we'll have to see when it's out...

mirime · 25/12/2017 15:39

DH and I both have that Australian flu that's going round and feel like shit.

SpeckleDust · 25/12/2017 15:44

12yo DD1 had a massive strop (shouting, kicking doors) about not getting as many presents as her younger sister, despite them costing double the amount. DH and I have had enough of it (she manages to find something to get angry about most weekends) but are trying to stay ‘nice’. Time to open the prosecco Xmas Grin.

Sorry to all those who are genuinely having a tough time - I know ours is pretty tame in comparison.

fannythrobbing · 25/12/2017 15:44

My MiL dumped Christmas on me on the 21st dec - she insisted on hosting (I wanted to go out as I'm six months pregnant and have a 1 year old) called on 21st to say she was now working til 2 so we'd have to host.
I had expected it so had already ordered all of the food so minimal stress however she has only just rocked up now over an hour and a half late (was working 5 mins from the house), with an out of date cheesecake and a story about how her colleague was late. I'm having to thoroughly ~dry out~ reheat the turkey as it's stone cold. Sitting in the kitchen alone because if I have to listen to her or see her stupid face I'll take it off for her....

PigsInBaskets · 25/12/2017 15:48

DW was raised in a very, very strict religion (a cult, though she hates that word) and MIL has almost completely disowned her for not only leaving the religion but also for being in a relationship with a woman.

MIL has been ill and so DW went to see her, at MILs request, this morning only to be confronted with a diatribe on how she's going to hell, MIL can't believe she was cursed with a daughter like her and so on.

Combined with the fact they never did Christmas and DW puts a lot of pressure on herself to make it perfect for the kids, it's proven too much and most of the day has been spent valiantly trying to hide how upset she is from the children.

RaeSkywalker · 25/12/2017 15:48

DB went out last night and didn’t turn up for dinner. We were all worried sick- he eventually turned up, monumentally hungover, and tucked into his food 🙄

Glumglowworm · 25/12/2017 15:50

Hope all the vomiting dogs and children feel better soon and the PP don’t catch the bugs!

slap that’s really horrible of your PIL I’m so sorry Flowers

HashiAsLarry · 25/12/2017 15:50

My not so DPs have been giving me the silent treatment, which apparently extends to not wanting to even wish DCs a merry christmas. Thankfully MIL randomly took some time out of her hosting others (whole other odd story but we actually prefer spend it at home anyway) to make a fuss of them, so upset now forgotten by DCs.

SpeckleDust · 25/12/2017 15:52

Oh and apparently all DDs friends got iPhone X’s and we are rubbish parents for not getting her one (her uncle gave her a second hand iPhone 6 for her birthday Angry)
