Last night me and dh argued. Then when we were in bed, in the middle of the night he dreamt he was playing football and kneed me hard up the bottom Angry
Then this morning, 6 year old ds snuck down and opened up all his presents sigh*
Before everyone else was up..Cue upset.
Then the thing that was supposed to install in seconds took 2 and a half hours to build Hmm
Tell me its not just me....care to share your bad Christmas day stories?

Yesterday DM was fattist and racist. Today she was disablist and DS has autism. Really looking forward to her going home.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 25/12/2017 18:16

Woke up feeling great, 2 and a half year old pulled her tube out so that was fun to do on Christmas morning. She also had blood in her nappy and could be having an intolerance to her milk. The only source of food for her that keeps her alive. Then I couldn’t eat my dinner because the texture for the meat was off and I kept mentioning it whilst trying. Partner stopped eating so I walked off upstairs feeling upset and shit at not being able to eat it and I stayed up there for hours. So no dinner and worrying about another medical issue. It’s been a shit day.

JustHope · 25/12/2017 18:28

Some very sad stories here Flowers Also a reminder that even with all the hype Christmas is just another day and despite best attempts to make it special sometimes life just happens.

missmoz · 25/12/2017 18:39

Someone broke into our flat last night and stole my christmas presents, plus DP's laptop, wages, watch, and other belongings. Our insurance expired a few weeks ago and we hadn't renewed it...

I'm staying with family, trying to keep it together but just feel like bursting into tears. It's silly cos it's just stuff but I've been feeling down and confused about other stuff for weeks and it just feels a bit much right now. Also very conscious about how mopey I'm being.

Sallystyle · 25/12/2017 18:50

One daughter is recovering from the flu and still feeling awful.

My husband has now flagged and is low in mood. He usually hates Christmas with a passion but he spent the first half of the day loving it, so it's progress. He is trying to cover it well for our sake but I can tell he is quite ready to have some peace and quiet and feeling quite unwell (has MH illness).

I burnt my mouth on a roast potato.

I fell out with my sister, but that's ok. We fight like cat and dog and make up not long after.

Maelstrop · 25/12/2017 18:55

pissed off with me as if it was my fault for ruining dinner. He gone to.bed......I've poured a vodka.....cheers xx

He’s gone to bed?! Dear lord, who are these men children I keep reading about? I hope you didn’t get hurt.

Heifer · 25/12/2017 19:04

DH feeling ill, so I cooked dinner as usual (not a problem but was looking forward to having DH do it, as he works away a lot so doesn't cook often these days). Anyway had starter and had dished up main course. I mentioned that my chair felt too low, and next thing I knew I was getting lower and lower and bang on the floor. The chair had broken and down I went. Not so bad, but then a tray fell off the shelf from the vibration, onto my face, right across my nose. Lots of laughter followed. It hurt but not so much that I couldn't see the funny side. The problem is now that story will be told again and again, year after year ;-) Plus I've got a red mark across my nose so Rudolph is being mentioned a lot..
On the plus side, I have played Cluedo for the first time in years and DD 14 also enjoyed it.

carrie74 · 25/12/2017 19:09

In what appears to be a new Xmas Eve tradition, our kitchen drains have blocked (same thing happened last year). Unfortunately nothing has shifted whatever it is, so have had no main kitchen sink or dishwasher. Then this afternoon tried to boost heating and hot water and realised the boiler has turned itself off. Think it's linked to the blocked drains..Thankfully I have a utility sink which runs to separate drains so could use that to wash up.

But we're all well, had a fab lunch, now snuggled up under blankets, so it could be worse. Sunroof on the 27th...

BrokenHollandaise · 25/12/2017 19:24

DD woke at 5am being sick then was sick till about 11am. She's barely ate today but still having wet and dirty nappies.

Was really looking forward to Christmas this year as she's interested in toys etc now but I've enjoyed the cuddles I don't normally get.

Annelind · 25/12/2017 19:48

So much vomit and shit on this thread, it's starting to reek! Xmas Envy (not envy)

Waterjungle · 25/12/2017 20:00

2013 - Swine Flu
2014 - Boxing Day FIL in A and E
2015 - 10 relatives in a cottage up north. 8 with viral conjunctivitis, me with viral conjunctivitis and hyperemesis
2016 - me with flu, then mastitis on Christmas Eve then hospital admission for 3 days over new year two ruptured ear drums
Hoped this year would be better DH, BIL, PIL and me all have virus flu. They decided first The didn’t fancy wgat I made for evening meal. Then decided they couldn’t wait 30 mins to eat it so are tucking into the food downstairs while I put DS to bed.
I have already been asked since midday if they can eat the trifle I made. They can bloody well wait until I can sit down and eat too. I swear to God if I go down there and there is not good left I will start drinking on an empty stomach and nobody wants that......

BrokenHollandaise · 25/12/2017 20:04

Half an hour after my post DD just projectile vomited all over me.

Oh Lord! This was yesterday, but I baked two macadamia nut pies and when I was taking the second out of the oven, it flipped upside down. Luckily it landed on a piece of tin foil. I freaked but DH scooped it up back unto the tin and announced it as 'macadamia nut crumble' and said it still tastes great. Sigh. He's a good man.

Today, I was feeling a good deal of anxiety, he gave me 1/4 of one of his 'chill pills' then I forgot and drank a glass of wine when I went to my mother's care home to sit with her for lunch. I am feeling SO good right now, but not to be trusted in the kitchen with heavy lifting!

It's only noon Xmas day here right now. Who knows what 'wonders' the rest of the day will bring?

LakieLady · 25/12/2017 20:07

Blimey, and to think I was feeling sorry for myself because I've got a cold, and DP got pissed while cooking and has been a sarky arse (now snoring on sofa, thankfully).

Really sorry that so many are having a tough time.

Set off to drive to my parents to find a smashed car windscreen this morning and also dsc hasn't texted DH today and hasn't picked up the phone despite being seen online. We sent gifts for his dsc's sibling (DH's ex's new child) and not a peep from the ex either. DH is putting on a brave face but is gutted to not have had a quick call or text. Just got back from my parents to find out one of the cats has vomited all over the sofa and the rug.

Babaroll · 25/12/2017 20:12

I've done everything for Xmas. The shopping, thinking, present buying etc. we don't live near family so Xmas has just been us for many years. Last Xmas my dh had a hangover all day and spent most of it in bed and this year he has a cold which has yes meant him spending the entire day moping in bed and complaining about how Christmas is ruined. I've tried to keep it up for the kids who have had a great day but am just exhausted doing it on my own after solely doing the organising for the run up too.

user1471453601 · 25/12/2017 20:12

All started yesterday. For the first time in 30 years, dd and her partner decided to spend Xmas with DDs mum ( not as bad as it sounds, DD is an only one, partner one of nine). Thank god they did. Arrived at 3:00, no answer at the door, nipped to partners sis who gave them a key. Partners Mum on the floor, had been since 8:00. Broken hip. Shes 92. Operation today. She seems fine, but thank god they decided to go to her this year. She could have been there for over 24 hours. I think this qualifies as our worst Xmas so far. Love my girls and miss them, but I'm so glad they are wher they are.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 25/12/2017 20:19

Maelstrop It’s not just men... I did the same.

halfwitpicker · 25/12/2017 20:21

I forgot the Christmas clothes and Dd's sleeping sack.
Also, we drove 3 hours in an awful snowstorm. I now have no fingernails at all.

GlitterNails · 25/12/2017 20:26

Been waiting 2.5 hours for an ambulance for a very poorly two year old. Kept asking if we should just take her, but they kept telling us the ambulance would be with us very soon.

shouldaknownbetter · 25/12/2017 20:28

Not a bad thing but a nearly bad thing... young DD came out of the house with me to try her new bike, she has literally never ridden one before. As i was locking the door she got on it (I had told her to wait ,she was too excited) and as the drive is on an incline she started going towards the road just as a car set off. Luckily I grabbed her in time or she could have gone straight in its path. Now that would have been beyond a bad thing. Heart is still in my mouth 8 hours later!

gruber · 25/12/2017 20:29

My grandfather managed to get out of hospital in time for Christmas, but then rang in a panic at 6 on Christmas Eve saying he’d had a fall and couldn’t get up. He is getting worse by the day. My mum and I had to go round, change him, bring his Christmas dinner (he was too ill to join us for lunch). He is declining very quickly and slept most it today. It is very sad and distressing to watch.

brizzledrizzle · 25/12/2017 20:33

@GLitternails @Gruber Flowers

Appalling that an ambulance would take so long. I never know when I might need to drive somebody to hospital and I don't feel that you can rely on ambulances, hence I am teetotal.

GeillisTheWitch · 25/12/2017 20:40

My arsehole drunken brother having a pop at me over something that was nothing to do with him. I thought he'd finally grown out of being an arrogant self-centred cunt but apparently not.
