Last night me and dh argued. Then when we were in bed, in the middle of the night he dreamt he was playing football and kneed me hard up the bottom Angry
Then this morning, 6 year old ds snuck down and opened up all his presents sigh*
Before everyone else was up..Cue upset.
Then the thing that was supposed to install in seconds took 2 and a half hours to build Hmm
Tell me its not just me....care to share your bad Christmas day stories?

Christmas was looking a bit shit this year due to us having to move because landlord is selling up and council messing us about, but we were trying to make the best of it. The school gifted us with some presents to try and make it a bit more special. They opened the stuff my Mum bought them last night and the living room looked like a wrapping paper bomb exploded. Kids are all sick and they have shared, so we agreed to an early night and husband setting up presents and sorting the living room this morning, youngest finally got to sleep at 5am this morning. Husband overslept and then when he did get up he watched stood around watching sports because he's a twat. He followed this up by "forgetting" to wrap the one last present I was going to do last night and finished off by accidentally putting the same present in the recycling box. Then while the youngest managed to pee all over the sofa before I had the chance to change her pull up and he put her dolls house from my mum together backwards. Oh, and nobody wants a Christmas dinner because we all feel rubbish and there is still hours of Christmas Day to go lol. On the plus side, there was stuffing for breakfast and there is alcohol delivered yesterday courtesy of Amazon Prime lol

Topseyt · 25/12/2017 15:53

My gorgeous, elderly ginger cat had to be put to sleep by the out of hours emergency vet this morning after a sudden and sharp decline late last night.

I won't forget Christmas 2017.

Mrsmorton · 25/12/2017 15:55

My mother is drunk. Again. And she’s shouting at my dad who has Parkinson’s.
Can’t wait for her to start criticising lunch. Fucking Cunt.

ScootieAllan · 25/12/2017 15:57

We have no water due to a burst water main. Plenty of whisky though

Worriedrose · 25/12/2017 15:59

@ScootieAllan
That doesn't actually sound like anythings gone wrong!

ClaryFray · 25/12/2017 15:59

We forgot the foil, and I had to be grudgingly run up to the shop to grab one. When I'm quite vocal about shops not needing to open and people can do without one day a year.

And DS (possible autism) has eaten nothing all day despite my fussing.

annie8417 · 25/12/2017 16:02

I've had a lovely sickness bug that started last night and the kids have argued all day

drspouse · 25/12/2017 16:07

I have a chest infection which also entailed OOH appointment and pharmacy search. DCs are both being feral, were awful at church (normally they are a) better and b) diluted. DS head butted me when I tried to sit him down to to calm down. I cried).
DS has continued to be awful at home - asking to eat more and more chocolate every 5 seconds, eating everyone else's, and refusing all lunch (he likes all the components) except bacon. Hanging up our call to relatives because we were talking not him. Hitting, throwing (e.g. a book and a box of paints) at people. He's been bad all month and has behaviour problems anyway but this is just the limit. I just want someone to come to our house and see what he's like.

drspouse · 25/12/2017 16:08

(On the bright side, we haven't had to have anyone to stay).

Oh dear what a thread. 💐💐💐💐💐.

It's only a day. Hopefully you will all have a brilliant Boxing Day instead although it's quite understandably, given some of the posts, that Boxing Day might be a bit shite too..... if that's the case then I hope things gradually get better.

JaceLancs · 25/12/2017 16:14

DF (92) is poorly and unable to get out of bed so had to rush over there to hold DM hand and keep her company - left DS 24 in charge of dinner at ours - got back in time to put veg on and meal ok - but worrying - we fear it’s his last Xmas with us
I’m going back to sit with him tonight and allow DM to join party at DB that I was going to - not that I mind - I just want her to have an ok day under the circumstances

TheLibraryIsOpen · 25/12/2017 16:15

All bowls, bar two, just fell out of the cupboard shattering across the oven and floor. Eating pudding from a strange array of items this year!

GrrrHotdogs · 25/12/2017 16:16

@flashlight17 Wow, what a great suggestion!! . I bet drsspouse hadn't thought if that. 😜 😂😂😂

onalongsabbatical · 25/12/2017 16:17

Well, nothing bad here except slightly malfunctioning heating in our West Wales holiday rental, not to speak of torrential rain, but I want to send anyone who's having a rubbish time loads of Flowers and Cake and Brew and Gin and Wine, too, for them as wants it, and just to say that this was the year I discovered and joined Mumsnet and I love it, and it's such an antidote to bloody Facebook and so much more real, and I hope things get better for all of you soon. Oh, and if it cheers anyone up someone I know had their baby at a minute past midnight xmas morning! Safe and well new little girl, firstborn.

Ahhhh.

MudCity · 25/12/2017 16:17

Topseyt ...so very sorry about your beautiful cat. Flowers

Rosie2000 · 25/12/2017 16:19

Limping through the day and festive period here too- sorry to say but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

SantaClauseMightWork · 25/12/2017 16:21

First world problem but we got about a couple hours late in starting the dinner prep due to DH faffing about. Hmm he did try his best to make up for it but I haven't yet ruled out using a pillow on him when he passes out tonight.
And I didn't make a trifle because he brought an ICED Madeira cake.

Presents went great though. Food divine too. So makes nearly up for it. Grin

user1475959200 · 25/12/2017 16:21

My puppy woke me up at 4.30 am she had pooped next to my head this morning it contained dead worms ! I still feel ill thinking about it !

Tupperwarelid · 25/12/2017 16:21

We’ve all got colds/coughs/sore throats/temperatures and feel like shit. My parents are here and luckily don’t mind that we all just want to lay around and not host party games and supply endless food and drink

whycantiloginonmyotheraccount · 25/12/2017 16:22

My day isn't as bad as many others but I'm still going to moan.

My stupid body has decided that today is the perfect day for a pain flare-up
MIL is staying, she's already been here a week and will be here til mid January when we've set up home care for her. She is confused, has told the same stories on loop for days and is convinced that I'm reading her mind because I'm playing all the songs she likes.

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 25/12/2017 16:26

We're my MIL's and she declared at 10am that she wasn't going to do a Christmas dinner today and would do it tomorrow instead. She then went back to bed for the day. There was no food in the house except Christmas dinner so I had to go down to the garage to buy lunch.

She's up again now and is offended that I'm about to take my two hungry and bored children home.

Makes it worse that she's my exMIL so I've also had to spend the making small talk with my ExDH all day.

drspouse · 25/12/2017 16:26

@flashlight17 @GrrHotDogs Gosh what a brilliant suggestion! He's been with us nearly 6 years and that's the first time it's occurred to me! Thank you so much for your insight!

overitalready · 25/12/2017 16:27

Dinner was fucking disgusting Grin My mum tries so hard but every other year is the same - insists on cooking, moans how shes had to cook, moans it was horrible and well this year shes right

Drycleanonly7 · 25/12/2017 16:27

I was sick down the loo at midday (am blaming the cheese and wine from last night) and have been recovering on my own whilst my husband and toddler are at his parents' house. Happy Christmas.x
