Then this morning, 6 year old ds snuck down and opened up all his presents sigh*
Before everyone else was up..Cue upset.
Then the thing that was supposed to install in seconds took 2 and a half hours to build Hmm
Tell me its not just me....care to share your bad Christmas day stories?

My gorgeous, elderly ginger cat had to be put to sleep by the out of hours emergency vet this morning after a sudden and sharp decline late last night.

This is so sad TopseyT (((((HUGS)))))

DS1 shouting at DS2 in nasty way over game. DS1 P able to tell him not to but apparently if I try it I'm the villain. Head and stomach both ache and fed up with the lot of them and want some peace.

ElephantsandTigers · 25/12/2017 20:50

Glitter nails - I hope the ambulance has turned up now and it turns out to be notnserious.

Gruber Flowers.

We've had a lovely day except I forgot to buy one of DS's presents as I thought I already had it and much worse, a friends mum is very ill and I haven't heard from her all day. I'm afraid no news is good news isn't the case here.

GlitterNails · 25/12/2017 20:57

Thank you. She's now been at the hospital some time waiting to be seen. Her breathing was so awful I hoped she would be seen quickly - but I guess it depends who else is there.

karmacoma1 · 25/12/2017 21:00

Not today.... but fil had a massive stroke 2 days ago and as such is in hospital.

It’s DDS first xmas, so it’s been very hard to strike a balance between my dh going and supporting his dad and fam at the hospital, and having a nice time for the sake of dd.

drspouse · 25/12/2017 21:02

Glitter hope things are OK.

Stoptherideiwannagetoff · 25/12/2017 21:10

D abd V last year so all hopes pinned on a fun time today. Started very well but I've now sneezed and broken a rib ... No more sauce for me and a very uncomfortable night ahead... plus the meds have given me the raging 5hits! Ho fucking ho!

1DAD2KIDS · 25/12/2017 21:14

The pub undercooked the Brussels sprouts a bit for our liking.

ScattyMcScatty · 25/12/2017 21:25

Dd had head surgery a week ago so is still recovering but she's brighter than ds who on Saturday was diagnosed with scarlet fever so is taking the most vile tasting antibiotics that make him heave and is still running a fever (he's a champ though) and now so are we after being diagnosed with strep throat after an emergency dash to ooh last night. On pins that dd doesn't catch anything as she's still at risk! So very low key but happy we're together.

Not nearly as bad as some so huge hugs and Thanks x

QuackPorridgeBacon · 25/12/2017 21:29

brizzledrizzle It’s that time of year sadly. Ambulances will be busy. I’d just take my child in though if it took too long. But she has a transplant so I would worry more.

Superness · 25/12/2017 21:31

Major blow out with DH today (not life or death but nonetheless unpleasant). Back story is that SIL is aware that I do not want my two kids (9 & 7) having a sleepover in her Grenfell style tower block flat so SIL would not be coming over for Christmas day. Would come on boxing day (despite not being invited by me) and 'would be civil to me for the sake of her brother and the children'. DH sought to justify this rudeness and will not pull SIL up on it. Another nail in the coffin on Christmas day.

lalalalyra · 25/12/2017 21:34

We had a power cut. So Christmas dinner was a fucking disaster. Thankfully the turkey and ham were cooked yesterday. The turkey was reheated in the gravy on the camping stove and served with just-about-ready roasties.

On the up side the kids thought playing cards by candlelight was great fun.

LimpidPools · 25/12/2017 22:16

@Desperada1234 No, your partner not contacting you today says nothing about you and everything about him. Merry Christmas x

And Merry Christmas to everyone else who is having a tough time this year too. I hope things look up for you all soon.

PutYourBracesTogether · 25/12/2017 22:21

My scumbag exh opening DS Christmas and birthday cards from that side of the family and stealing the money from inside.
Right now I hope the cunt ODs on the heroin he bought with it.

mnxnt42 · 25/12/2017 22:48

Various minor things including me spending most of the day on the loo. But we are not in hospital and DS does not have sepsis so a big improvement on previous years and I don’t give a fuck!

MardyMarie · 25/12/2017 22:58

I was picking up dog poo in the garden and noticed one under the trampoline. After struggling to get under the middle of the trampoline, I heard my dog bound on to the trampoline where she proceeded to begin to pee on my head. I shrieked and lost my balance, you guessed it - falling into the poo Xmas Angry

Callaird · 25/12/2017 23:00

I lost three very well behaved dogs (my brothers 2 and my dads) usually stay quite close and come when called so was happy to take them all (dad unwell, mum 2 x stroke in 18 months and mobility not good, brother working and his girlfriend helping with food prep and looking after my Dniece) they all love water and can sniff it out a couple of miles away, I didn’t know there was a stream on this walk (live 70 miles away so don’t go on many walks) they hung around nicely chasing balls, chasing each other for about 45 minutes and then disappeared for almost 2 hours!!

Finally got home, took over cooking of (very late) dinner as niece was up from her nap and dropped a full tray of (my favourite bit of Christmas dinner) parsnips roasting in boiling goose fat all over the floor (and my bare foot)!

BouncyFlouncy · 25/12/2017 23:10

We had a phone call from (LC) SIL to say that (NC) MIL is spending Christmas in prison on remand for assaulting SIL on Christmas Eve.
After MIL's behaviour towards both DH and me, I have no sympathy at all. Let's just hope they aren't pussyfooting around her in there as she is "an old lady" (the card she relies on - she's only 69).

SIL is bruised and shaken up but ok btw.

Update on ambulance situation for two year old. Firstly to explain we never wanted the ambulance - we were trying to get her an appointment at the Walk-In centre. She was offered an appointment, but when they heard her breathing over the phone said she needed an ambulance and to be seen as an emergency.

Waited 2.5 hours for ambulance, half an hour before ambulance set off, then was in the A&E waiting room for hours. She got seen by the doctor about half an hour ago to say she has croup. They've given her paracetamol and discharged her.

If they'd just let us have the walk-in centre appointment (because despite it's name they do appointments) she would have been seen and back home and in bed within an hour.

I know it's no ones fault, but I feel for her as she felt so poorly and her breathing is awful - really laboured at some points and a barking cough that kept her awake all last night too. Not a fun Christmas for her.

GlitterNails · 26/12/2017 00:37

Sorry that turned into an epic. Very glad it was nothing worse of course.

Sorry for everyone having an awful time.

ToothTrauma · 26/12/2017 00:49

Lovely day here but just before guests arrived I was upstairs tipping my head upside down to put spray in my hair. I flipped my head right back and went cracking skull-first into the wall.

Christ it hurt. I had to sit on the bed, feeling sick, and cry from the pain and the shock, then quickly neck some painkillers and go downstairs all smiles.

I’m in bed nursing it now. I’ve such an egg!

hollowtree · 26/12/2017 00:57

Our DD's first Christmas and my first year hosting... we have a tiny 1 bed house and bought the food/fizz ready. Then today MIL calls to say she's invited her new boyfriend's kids. Who we have never met and will probably never see again. When we told her sorry but no... She said tough she's already invited them.

Cue a massive row between me and DH and me being totally pissed off
