To be devastated with my new carpet

Had a new carpet fitted on my landing and stairs today. It looked darker in the shop than it looks on my stairs. So it's a mid/light grey. But it looks blue. I hate it. I'm devastated. We can't afford to buy another carpet so I was wondering if there was anything we could do to tone down the blueness. We have off white walls throughout and light oak laminate in the hall. It looks fine upstairs but on the actual stairs it looks hideous. Any ideas?

Are you certain it's the one you picked? I know someone who had their house done in the wrong shade!

Justalittlelemondrizzle · 27/11/2017 20:28

Yea it's the one I picked. It looks fine upstairs. It looked totally different in the crowded and shadowy carpet warehouse.

Change your light bulb colour to a blue one? Smile

Justalittlelemondrizzle · 27/11/2017 20:31

Really? Will that not make it worse. I hate blue

Yes, alter the lighting and see if it makes a difference

JamesBlonde1 · 27/11/2017 20:32

Did you take a sample home to check? Is the sample the same colour?

Yes, I think the only thing you can do is change your lighting to see if it helps. A more creamy bulb rather than white?

Put a photo on that might help.

NellGin · 27/11/2017 20:32

Would changing the paint colour help maybe?

Tiddlywinks63 · 27/11/2017 20:32

If it's only under electric light then try a soft light bulb?
My grey carpet looks blue under artificial light, definitely grey in daylight. I was a bit ooh-er initially but I'm used to it now.

Justalittlelemondrizzle · 27/11/2017 20:36

Natural light v's electric light. To be honest I thought it looked blue in natural light too.

We painted all the walls white yesterday in dulux cotton white.

It definitely looks grey in those pics; not blue at all

ThisLittleKitty · 27/11/2017 20:38

That's the thing with grey. A lot can end up looking blue. Same when you buy grey paint.

RobinMansions · 27/11/2017 20:38

Looks grey to me too!

ThisLittleKitty · 27/11/2017 20:39

Looks blue in the pics to me.

somewheresorted · 27/11/2017 20:39

looks very grey to me too!

WhoWants2Know · 27/11/2017 20:40

Definitely looking more grey in the natural light. Do you have a sample left? Take it to B&Q and hold it up to the different light displays, and then choose the best bulb colour.

blueskypink · 27/11/2017 20:40

Looks lovely!

CremeFresh · 27/11/2017 20:40

I'd call it grey too

Gingernaut · 27/11/2017 20:40

Daylight bulbs.

Norugratsatall · 27/11/2017 20:41

I think it looks great op. I’m sure you’ll get used to it.

Lethaldrizzle · 27/11/2017 20:42

Looks grey to me. Devastated's a bit of a strong word!

HakunaStigmata · 27/11/2017 20:43

It’s a nice carpet.

I get you’re a smidgen disappointed but honestly it looks really smart. Why not save ‘devastated’ for a more fitting (no pun intended) occasion?

You could get a runner for the stairs?

JamesBlonde1 · 27/11/2017 20:43

It’s dark grey.

runwalkrun · 27/11/2017 20:43

Looks grey to me.

It's the carpet version of the white and gold dress. Grin

Charolais · 27/11/2017 20:44

I’m not seeing any blue in the photos.
