A Balsam Hill one.

I deeply dislike the look of fake trees usually which means we spend £50+ every year on a real one, which then spends January forlorn in the garden before we get round to chopping it up and getting rid of it. It’s a ball ache.

I’ve read lots of amazing things about the BH realistic ones, and I’ve seen one we like online but it’s £318! I don’t mind investing in it but I’ve never seen one in real life and I’d rather not chuck them £30 for a sample as that seems an utter pisstake.

Does anyone here have one? Do they look super real or is it hype? The reviews are good tbf but I wanted to canvas opinions before we commit to it.

Pommes thank you! I’ve just used that 20% code to buy a European Fir, here’s hoping it fits!

Roussette · 15/11/2017 08:27

Your tree looks lovely salene !

bettytaghetti · 15/11/2017 10:14

Your tree looks beautiful Salene!
It looks like they've finally got their act together and sent out emails with actual codes! Now have to work out which tree(s) to get!

Grammy78 · 15/11/2017 10:17

Mine is being delivered today. Wooooooo!

WellTidy · 15/11/2017 10:24

We got a Balsam Hill tree last year. I love it. It takes ages to fluff it out properly when you put it up for the first time, so factor in some extra time! It comes with a lovely storage bag and some gloves for handling it. I absolutely love it. It was our Christmas present from my parents! I can't remember the model, but it is 7 feet, pre lit and it is so authentic looking, full and sparkly. I treated it to £200 of new decorations as it deserved it so much.

Pommes · 15/11/2017 10:27

@longdaysandpleasantnights you are most welcome. My tree just arrived!

stayhomeclub · 15/11/2017 10:28

The codes upthread aren’t working for me, does anyone have one they could send me please? Smile

Pommes · 15/11/2017 10:32

Not good news here! Or is it?! Just been shaping the tree and now middle and top lights don't work. Nothing we can do to make them work.

Initially they wanted us to pack this up and send it back via courier BUT they have just agreed to send out a replacement tree and said to do what I wanted with the other one! Now what the heck am I going to do with the faulty lights one ho hum

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 15/11/2017 15:53

Mine arrived. It obviously has a lot bit if fluffing and shaping, but so far, really quite happy.

Fabulous Credulous!

I'm now in a quandary, they are sending me a second tree but first one works if I hold it in a certain position! If I take my hand away lights go out!

Floralnomad · 15/11/2017 18:02

Well you can’t really stand next to it for the entire festive season ! Unless you want a second one I’d ask if the courier who brings the next one could take it back with him

Roussette · 15/11/2017 18:08

They've already told me I can't do that, so I will just have one in the lounge and one in the hall and I'll stand holding it for 3 weeks Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 15/11/2017 18:19

Thanks to this bloody thread I had a moment of extreme madness and ordered one. However, I was saved by the mobile site not accepting my postcode. I took it as a sign and thank god I did. They are beautiful thoughWink

Pommes · 15/11/2017 19:37

It would be interesting to know exactly how many trees this thread has sold.

GoingRogue · 15/11/2017 20:23

My 6ft BH Balsam Fir arrived mid-morning, after I ordered it Monday night. Cost me £255 with the extra 20% discount.

Got it out to check it was all ok, esp after Roussette's story (I would keep the extra one and just add fairy lights to it?!).

It was beautifully packaged, and I like the 2 x pairs of gloves and little bag with spare bulbs in. It's reassuringly heavy, and comes with good instructions.

I've gotta say though...I wasn't blown away by it Sad I'm loving that the lights are pre-done and you just slot the poles in and away you go, but the actual branches? They're not as, I dunno, authentic as I would have liked. And I wish I'd got a 7ft now! Altho it would have been £100 more and 6" wider... I am notoriously difficult to please though!

I'm yet to fluff it out properly, and it does look better in the dark (bit like me!) will no doubt look fab once decorated.

Kids and dh think we may as well keep it up now!! Hmm Oh, and it's not staying there btw, it has already been moved to a different spot.

KipperBalloon · 15/11/2017 20:28

Well OP, this is the first time I have ever, ever been tempted by an artificial tree. The European Fir looks so incredibly real, and is actually proper "Christmas tree shape". Although I mentioned to DH, who always used to get annoyed by my insistence about having a real tree... thinking he would be pleased to get an artificial one... he went all misty-eyed and said he prefers a real tree now. I have worn him down / won him over, clearly!! Grin

GoingRogue · 15/11/2017 20:43

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme yours looks fab! Is it the European Fir? Sorry can't remember who has bought what! Kinda wishing I'd gone for a more realistic shape now, rather than "full". Was worried it'd look sparse, but then real trees often are aren't they?! Confused

I would have liked a real tree, but dh doesn't like them, and our house is usually hotter than the sun (heaven forbid dh has to wear a jumper in winter) so the needles drop really quickly.

GoingRogue · 15/11/2017 20:44

CredulousThickos yours does look amazing! Is it a 7ft? Which one is it?

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 15/11/2017 21:14

Pommes I did.
