To buy a £300 Christmas tree?

A Balsam Hill one.

I deeply dislike the look of fake trees usually which means we spend £50+ every year on a real one, which then spends January forlorn in the garden before we get round to chopping it up and getting rid of it. It’s a ball ache.

I’ve read lots of amazing things about the BH realistic ones, and I’ve seen one we like online but it’s £318! I don’t mind investing in it but I’ve never seen one in real life and I’d rather not chuck them £30 for a sample as that seems an utter pisstake.

Does anyone here have one? Do they look super real or is it hype? The reviews are good tbf but I wanted to canvas opinions before we commit to it.

Maybe when I get in from Weight Watchers at 7.30. The kids are clamouring to do it.

I'm getting rather fed up with this company; I ordered the sample box on the understanding that the cost of it can be offset against future purchase, as per the website. It says "please be sure to save the coupon code in your order confirmation page in order to claim the credit". Nothing included in the box or the confirmation email.
Also have received a couple of emails about the 20% discount for the Friends & Family event but nowhere on them is a discount code. Have contacted them about this but they insist that the codes are computer generated and therefore they can do nothing about it.
In the meantime, if anyone wants me to post pictures of any of the branches, let me know. Think I'm going to stick with the prospect of vacuuming up real needles come January!

GoingRogue · 14/11/2017 18:38

Oh no @bettytaghetti! How frustrating Angry Hope you get somewhere soon; have you tried calling them?

I know what you mean about the discount code not appearing in the email; just realised I got this mid-morning and I can't see a code anywhere?? Will email them now...

@GoingRogue, yes that's the same email. I know I need an eye test, but thought I was going mad trying to see if I'd missed something! I've been messaging them on FB and finally someone reasonable has replied and said that if put an order in they will honour the codes and adjust their end accordingly. Not quite sure if this will actually work so still a bit nervous as I was going to place quite a large order. Could be a very expensive mistake!
If anyone wants comparison photos of the branches, while they're still deliberating between different trees, just let me know. What I have found quite interesting is seeing what the branches look like underneath, which if you order a particularly tall tree, may affect your decision.

GoingRogue · 14/11/2017 18:51

@bettytaghetti we are both going mad in that case then Wink

I think someone upthread said that they'd had an issue with a code not working, but when they contacted BH they refunded them the amount? I'm like you though; would rather just get the code working and only pay the discounted amount, not wait for a reimbursement.

GoingRogue · 14/11/2017 18:53

P.s if it was yesterday or the day before I would have loved to have seen your pics of the branches! But I ordered my 6ft BH Balsam Fir last night so it's a bit late for me! Thanks anyway Smile

Grammy78 · 14/11/2017 19:05

How long did it take for yours to arrive? I ordered mine yesterday afternoon.

Roussette · 14/11/2017 19:11

Mine came today after ordering 9am yesterday!

Grammy78 · 14/11/2017 19:36

Roussette, I am so excited now!

Not had an email yet to say it's been dispatched so doubt it will come tomorrow.

OliviaPopeRules · 14/11/2017 19:38

I got the same email (with no visible code) and queried with them yesterday and after a couple of emails they said order and we will refund you the 20%. I ordered and sent an email last night asking for refund and have had 4 or so emails back and forward today sending screenshots etc and they said no refund.
I then called and said I would like to cancel and the guy said we will refund you the 20% but he also said he would send me an email in the next few minutes (at about 4pm) and so far I have nothing so still not sure I will get the refund.
If I don’t I will be returning on principle even if I lose 30 on return postage (ordered 2 trees!!).
They said it would take 2 days to process the refund but I paid via PayPal and normally when I get a refund you see it straight away so I’m not at all convinced I will get it so beware if the offer to refund the 20%. If I get email confirmation/or not I will give you an update.

Roussette · 14/11/2017 19:44

I got the email at 4.45pm after ordering that day, saying it was shipped. It had a tracking number that didn't work, but luckily I was home when it arrived!

Grammy78 · 14/11/2017 19:50

That was quick!

Seems that the customer service is really hit and miss.

GoingRogue · 14/11/2017 19:51

Eek OliviaPopeRules that doesn't sound great does it?! I hate waiting for refunds from companies when it wasn't my fault. Some take 30 days or so, grr. I really hope it all gets resolved tomorrow.

Ordered mine last night and not had a dispatched email yet. Hoping to get it by the end of the week.

bettytaghetti · 14/11/2017 20:11

That doesn't sound good Olivia; hope they clear up the misunderstanding on their part. Doesn't give me confidence in placing an order tbh.

OliviaPopeRules · 14/11/2017 20:38

Thanks Rogue and Betty, the guy was very obliging on the phone but almost seemed too helpful but maybe I’m being cynical. I have experience of being told one thing on the call and it all being denied afterwards like ‘yes of course you can do that, I’ll sort that for you’ and then when you ring back they have no record (not BH another Co).
Betty I will let you know if I hear anything in the morning.

Floralnomad · 14/11/2017 21:44

It was me who got the refund and I got it immediately but that was in July when I imagine they were not as busy . We’ve had no issue with customer service , when our tree arrived it had a bulb or two out and dh called them and they dispatched spare bulbs no problem .

Roussette · 15/11/2017 06:46

I haven't looked properly at all that came with my tree yesterday but I did say a little bag of spare bulbs which is good. It's lying down in a spare room at the moment waiting for a bit of love and attention Grin

Roussette · 15/11/2017 06:46

*see, not say

MammaElf · 15/11/2017 07:06

I have found and used a code yay! 6.5ft prelit Fraser fir on the way Grin I have a spare code for 20% off before midnight tomorrow so feel free to PM me if you’d like it!

Update - They have now said by email that they will refund me. It will take 3-5 days to process and 14 days to appear on my statement.
Also on the shipping mine is due to arrive today, got the email last last night about 24 hours after I ordered, assuming it turn up today shipping looks pretty fast.

GoingRogue · 15/11/2017 07:37

Salene · 15/11/2017 07:46

I bought a BH tree last year it was around £350 and looks amazing , stores away easily near its bag and lasts years

My inlaws have one from 5 years ago which is why we got one. It looks amazing too

They are well worth the money in my eyes and look superior to anything else I’ve ever seen.

Salene · 15/11/2017 07:52

One word of warning be prepared to spend a few hours shaping it Shock it takes ages

Salene · 15/11/2017 08:08

Here is a photo of our one from BH
