How can that bumbling baffoon still be in a job? How does he not have the guts to fully apologise, instead of that well rehearsed speech that avoided the crucial word sorry, and more to the point why is he not in Iran trying to speak directly to the Iranian government?

It's absolutely not 'crazy' to suggest the uk govt tries to help a British-Iranian citizen unlawfully imprisoned abroad.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2017 10:22

I never understood why TM gave BJ the Foreign Office anyway.

Because she needed to give him something otherwise he'd have knifed her in the back. And foreign secretary seems to be the one job you can fuck up with it reflecting badly on you rather than the whole party. Or maybe she wanted someone to blame the Brexit shambles on.

I'm no fan of the PM but I think she's playing the long game with Boris and there's probably a good reason she's keeping him around for now - presumably so that when he does fall, it's for a reason he can't recover from.

SamanthaBrique · 11/11/2017 10:24

He's clever in the way people who can recite Latin poetry and talk about the political system of Ancient Rome are clever. I doubt he has a clue about real life. Clever but not smart.

Fekko · 11/11/2017 10:39

I've watched year 7s recite latin poetry in competitions. Doesn't make them a genius though.

SamanthaBrique · 11/11/2017 10:42

Well yes, my point exactly!

Fekko · 11/11/2017 10:44

He - and others - think so though. He thinks he is Churchill (man not the dog) but hasn't the dry wit or strategic thinking. He's closer to Roy chubby brown.

LouiseBrooks · 11/11/2017 11:06

"He's clever in the way people who can recite Latin poetry and talk about the political system of Ancient Rome are clever. "

Yeah but I doubt Bettany Hughes or Michael Scott would behave like this. He's an over privileged twat who believes his own spin and doesn't care about anyone who isn't like him.

JonSnowsWife · 11/11/2017 11:34

I'm disgusted with how this last year has turned out. This government is a shambling pit of careerist ignorant evil bastards.

To be honest, I'm not even that suprised anymore. Most are simply a bunch of self serving idiots, promising the UK the referendum is what got them the job second time around. TM only called this early one this year because they wouldn't have been able to implement it as she hadn't been elected in essence.

BJ will only go if pressure from the media is continued on TM and BJ. But it won't. The only thing keeping TM in power and BJ in a job is the big Brexit folk in the media. They'll make sure she 'behaves herself' does what she's told. Quite a turnaround for a PM who was once a Remainer.

BJ is nothing more than a pound land Donald Trump with a British accent. He knows he can say what the fuck he liked and is unsackable. Too many people with too much power will make sure he is propped up. People with that level of self-importance are hardly going to give two shits about how they're words directly affected someone currently unlawfully imprisoned in Iran. She is, sadly to the likes of BJ, seen as nothing more than collateral damage.

toffeepumpkins · 11/11/2017 12:20

It's disgusting, he should be sacked but May won't do it as she's afraid of the leadership challenge that would result. Nazanin should be freed, as should her daughter who is going to really struggle if/when she's allowed to return to England as reports say that she has now forgotten how to speak English.

He's only got the job so May can keep him where she wants him and he's a liability.

ForalltheSaints · 11/11/2017 12:23

Fekko Roy Chubby Brown has a conviction for assault. Whilst I think Boris Johnson should be sacked, do not agree with the comparison.

Humpsfor20yards · 11/11/2017 12:24

It's funny that some people said they voted brexit to 'kick the elites'. Well, they did a great job with the untoucheable boris. They must feel super proud.

Fekko · 11/11/2017 12:32

Foral - I didn't know that. Funnily enough I'm not in eithers fan club

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/11/2017 13:18

Poor Nazanin. Her mind must be in an absolute turmoil.
If it were up to me BJ would serve her
extened 5 years for her. After all, that idiot is the reason why she's had her sentence lengthened, but No he's getting away with it. Okay saying something stupid is one thing, abx He may not, probably did not say it on purpose, but. He's not even remorseful or sorry.
He's one of those. I bet everyone ducks and dives anytime he walks into a room. While someone keeps dixie Grin

ForgetMeNotCat · 11/11/2017 14:05

I really hope he isn't just allowed to forget about this.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/11/2017 14:16

He will be, though. Forgetmenotcat.
I bet you a pound

Fekko · 11/11/2017 14:20

Only because I'm sure he will say something even more stupid shortly. He's like a political prince Philip.

Fekko · 11/11/2017 18:08

So Boris is going to meet the husband? And Iran is saying that he has 'unwittingly confirmed' that she wasn't just there on holiday? Christ on a bike...

toffeepumpkins · 11/11/2017 18:10

It'll all be brushed under the carpet I think. I hope he'll be sacked, he's proved that he is a liability. To think that he's representing the interests of this country overseas is incredibly worrying.

LineysRum · 11/11/2017 18:15

Interesting facts on Twitter about Penny Mordaunt who replaced Priti Patel-

Jolly good friend of Boris, once
Incorrectly said UK had no veto to stop Turkey EU
Incorrectly said shipbuilding would stay in her constituency city, Portsmouth
Was pictured next to the NHS Brexit Bus with Priti Patel

Fekko · 11/11/2017 18:19

🤦‍♀️

LarkDescending · 12/11/2017 13:34

I didn't see the Andrew Marr show today, but the Guardian is reporting that Michael Gove not only opined that Boris "is doing a great job as Foreign Secretary" (was this with a straight face?) but also, bafflingly, said that he himself didn't know what Nazanin had been doing on her visit to Iran.

These people really beggar belief.

LarkDescending · 12/11/2017 13:39

^^ By "these people" I obviously mean the incompetent, careless, self-serving clowns occupying high office in HM Govt.

runners656 · 12/11/2017 14:29

lark unless gove was in iran at the time how would he know and btw she went on her iranian passport.

Fekko · 12/11/2017 15:34

She'd have had problems if she'd gone with a British passport.

ShiftyMcGifty · 12/11/2017 16:12

Silly me. Yes of course the man must be a complete idiot and can't even read what is preapared for him by his brilliant staff of writers. He must be high as kite and just randomly pulled that out of his ass and said it to the world's media because he's just such a buffoon, oh how ever did he manage to get where he is at. Yup, it's all Boris' fault we don't just declare bloody war on Iran yesterday and charge in there and kidnap an Iranian citizen out of her home country.

Iran does not recognise dual citizenship.

The moment you, as a dual-citizenship holder, step on Iranian soil, you are an Iranian citizen. Your British passport is meaningless.

Here's something surprising- Iran is not the only country that doesn't recognise dual citizenship.
