I also wash my face and brush teeth if at home at lunch time. Not when I’m out though. I don’t wear foundation anymore because it feels dirty on my skin. Jeez maybe it’s me who should wash less. I’m going back to the Psychiatrist who thought I had OCD I’m obviously a special case 😂

DaisyRaine90 · 05/11/2017 21:28

Although DP is worse

REBECCAB123 · 05/11/2017 21:30

I thought that everybody washed/showered every day. You must stink!

yumchoc · 05/11/2017 21:43

Sorry but washing twice a week is very dirty my DD has skin condition and she has a daily bath with Dermol used as a skin cleanser
And Everyone I know washes daily

clarehhh · 05/11/2017 21:51

Daily is a minimum these days.Have elderly neighbour who doesnt wash and smell is revolting.I shower every day and twuce if I go for a swim.

PortiaCastis · 05/11/2017 21:58

Elderly neighbour probably needs help!

PollyPerky · 05/11/2017 22:04

This is either a wind up or a journo rawling for fodder for the Daily Fail.

KylieMinoguesHotPants · 05/11/2017 23:00

My sons shower daily, I shower every other day. For all those who think not showering daily is minging, my elderly father also lives with us. He never showers or bathes! What do you think about that?? He claims to strip wash, I don’t get close enough to notice if he smells but I spray his chair and bed with Febreze just in case.

Yeah well they’re welcome to the image my brain threw up of woman scraping off the crust before getting washed then can’t they?!

This thread is a revelation. To me, a daily bath or shower is a completely normal, everyday thing to do, it's just automatic. It's basic maintenance if you like and should be ingrained from early childhood, like eating, drinking, cleaning teeth (twice a day), washing hands regularly etc. Just things you are used to doing all the time. Isn't it nice to feel clean and put clean clothes on a clean body every day? Confused

boomitscountginula · 06/11/2017 00:28

I want to read all the pages. But scared. ..

I would like to live in a society where one has a shower daily and if your hair is too long to shake off you wash it at least twice a week????

I only go without a shower daily when it's the weekend and me and my boys aren't going any where outside. But I do spray some deodorant and do a quick wet wipe wash AT LEAST! I would feel grim if not..

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 06/11/2017 00:34

I shower/bathe every day. Usually on an evening after work, then clean jarmies on. I get washed at the sink on a morning before work, and showered after I've been in the pool at work. I work in a school with messy children and I also support SEN children in a hydrotherapy pool and stink like a bottle of bleach most days owing to the chlorine. I also don't like feeling unwashed - it's a grim feeling.

I wash my hair twice a week, brush teeth several times a day and use deodrant etc regularly throughout the day.

I was brought up on one bath a week - sunday night bath, hair wash and nails clipped, and even then it was shared with my Dsis and DBro - rank! Was allowed 1 shower during the week when I hit my teens, and that was mainly when on a period to 'freshen up'. Very grim. The first thing I did when I moved out of my parental home was sat under a red hot shower, for a very long time!

Geekmama · 06/11/2017 06:26

I shower every day, wash my hair once or twice a week.

ilovesouthlondon · 06/11/2017 07:07

OMG not this again! Once or twice a day every day. That goes for brushing your teeth too and for children and babies.

ilovesouthlondon · 06/11/2017 07:10

www.nhs.uk/conditions/bacterial-vaginosis/

The advice is to avoid using scented soaps, perfumed bubble bath or vaginal deodorant, not avoid washing.

ilovesouthlondon · 06/11/2017 07:20

Nobody who smells thinks they do.

Having set days to wash also seems a bit grim. What happens when on any of the other days you do a particular vigorous house clean or it’s hot and sticky or you have sex?

Daily showers takes no time at all. Hair washed, lather up soap, head to toe wash out and dried. I don’t feel human without a morning shower.

Exactly...

maddiemookins16mum · 06/11/2017 07:42

I can't imagine only washing or showering every few days, especially during Auntie Flo's monthly visit.

I only had a shower yesterday and despite washing my hair Saturday it feels grim already.

HolgerDanske · 06/11/2017 07:44

I shower daily and will also have a bath in the evening a few times a week.

Anatidae · 06/11/2017 07:48

Your friends are trying to gently and subtly tell you that you smell.

Sooooooooooooooooooooo · 06/11/2017 08:27

I don’t see the point of standing at the sink and having a strip wash when I can jump in the shower quickly. Wakes me up too.

user1498912461 · 06/11/2017 08:33

I bathe/shower every other day but "wash down" every day. Wash pits/face etc. I think twice a week is perfectly acceptable so long as you wash your face /pits/bits inbetween!

Ollivander84 · 06/11/2017 10:30

There is absolutely no chance of me washing my hair every day. It's incredibly dry, takes over 24hrs to air dry in winter or over an hour to diffuse it. Fine if you have short easy hair you can blast with a dryer for 15 mins!

Shesaid · 06/11/2017 11:09

Growing up, my parents washed once a week, with strip washes every day (I think - I remember DM doing this but not DF). They thought we were odd for showering everyday when we hit teen years - it just wasn't done in their day

Strip washing IS washing. Nothing 'less' about that.

I think this blog is a tease. Twice a week would be a 'confession' in any classroom, let alone dinner party.

I did sit recently with a couple of people who were preaching less washing for sustainable reasons. I don't think they were preaching that it is alright to be smelly. Which is a pity for them, because they were.
