I think I sit next to some of you stinky feckers on the bus each day 🤢

I shower every morning and every evening if I work out. The only time I don’t is if I’m slobbing about the house like today (showered at 4pm yesterday and feel disgusting and only a fire would make me leave 😂) or at festivals where a strip wash / baby wipe wash and dry shampoo are the only things that will do, and everyone stinks anyway.

I have a friend who only bathes once a week / twice a week possibly and honestly I’ve never known her to smell but I do find it really grim. I don’t know how people do it really. I’m constantly conscious of stinking and if I’ve slept in or the showers bust and I’ve missed a shower I feel absolutely rank all day. To feel that way for days on end is vile imo

Sallystyle · 05/11/2017 20:01

Not washing every day is antisocial in my opinion.

It's just dependant on the person. If I skip a day of washing I am not antisocial because I don't smell. I wake up smelly the week I'm due on because I get night sweats then but unless I have been pretty active I can skip a day and not smell at all. We don't all have the same stink levels.

Trust me, my husband and kids would soon tell me if I did smell.

I am very able to tell if I smell myself though. I know when I need to wash.

Dobopdidoo1 · 05/11/2017 20:02

Hair is different. Washing hair every other or third day is fine. Shower/bath every other or third day is rank.

Tippz · 05/11/2017 20:03

@hamptonmummy

I'm aware I probably do stink but I'm really not bothered

If this is a serious post, why should people have to tolerate your stench because you can't be arsed to shower and make yourself clean, and smell decent, like a normal human being?

It's rude and obnoxious and arrogant to not give a shit about how you smell, because your rank stench affects other people too.

Bet you smoke and blow your smoke over people, and don't give a fuck eh? Coz like 'I just don't care maaaan!' Hmm

Seriously, sort yourself out!

Sussedyouout · 05/11/2017 20:04

Shower every day & wash hair three times a week. Twice a week, really??? However, I do have a cousin who showers twice a week, her dh once a week (gross!) and their two teenage boys take a shower once a week but trust me, you can smell them when you walk into the room. They stayed at my house last summer for a week, I was horrified. The day they were leaving the eldest 16yo boy, clearly had a rinse under the arms & left the ranking damp hand towel flung on the bathroom floor which smelt of the rotten onions! Needless to say, they won’t be invited again.

Redglitter · 05/11/2017 20:14

I can't believe someone would say they smell but don't care. Showering once a month is manky. I can't get my head round how you could bear to go anywhere near that length of time. It's a horrible feeling if you can't shower because of illness etc but to do it by choice is disgusting

PortiaCastis · 05/11/2017 20:15

Ha what a wind up

TowerRavenSeven · 05/11/2017 20:15

In autumn/winter Long shower and hair wash every other day. Quick shower to do face, pits bits and feet on the days I don't have a long (regular) shower. Tried the strip wash every other day and found it cold, slopped water on floor, and took longer than a quick shower (for me).

In spring/summer long shower every day and at least one quick shower (often two) every day as well - we live in a hot climate in summer and I must shower before bed.

We had a bath once a week growing up and were supposed to do strip washes in between but it was never enforced. I'm afraid I grew up smelling.

aurynne · 05/11/2017 20:23

I shower every day, and if for any reason I miss a shower I feel sticky and uncomfortable.

However, in my experience people have different bodies, different glands and different degrees of oily skin.

I've had a couple of boyfriends that smelled even after showering every day. Very strong body odour, which wasn't unpleasant when clean, but soon became overpowering and fetid after 24h without a shower.

My DH, however, barely smells at all. Honestly, not even his armpits after exercise! He showers every day religiously, but when we've gone camping and spent 3 days without showering I felt grubby and smelly while he didn't smell at all. I bet he could be one of those people who showered twice a week and nobody would notice.

I, on the other hand, would be declared a biological hazard if I didn't.

DancingOnParsnips · 05/11/2017 20:24

considering changing? I'd just change it I think.

catsarenice · 05/11/2017 20:25

@AstridWhite it only takes a couple of minutes to wash at the basin whereas I spend ages in the shower. Also I've never found a fool proof way of keeping my hair dry in the shower especially when washing neck, face etc.

DaisyRaine90 · 05/11/2017 20:27

Every single morning
Most nights before bed

I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days (more often if I’m smoking cigarettes in the evening after kids in bed as I wouldn’t go to bed without washing it then or leaving 4 hrs to stop smoke breath)

Brush teeth twice, mouthwash 3x and floss once, also chew gum

File nails daily, eyebrows weekly

Wash hands about 50x a day

I am not OCD just clean 😊 couldn’t give a shit about germs tbh just don’t like to feel dirty or smelly

I put deodorant and spray on every 2/3 hours too and often wear two sets of clothes in a day as well as fresh underwear for bed.

I have started wearing my jeans 2 days in a row though 😱

Wallywobbles · 05/11/2017 20:33

My dogs and cats wash themselves more than twice a week. Even the horses get a couple of showers a week.

BakedBeans47 · 05/11/2017 20:43

hamptonmummy do you have issues with your mental health? I do and while I always do force myself into a daily shower it’s a struggle on some days and I can see how someone could let it slide x

BakedBeans47 · 05/11/2017 20:45

At the other end of the scale surely 2 showers, 2 sets of clothes, and spraying deodorant 2 hourly is a bit ridiculous too. Mind you I don’t smoke so I don’t have to worry about stinking of stale fags.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 05/11/2017 20:47

Daisy, why apply deodorant so frequently? Your routine is IMO too much
Best time to apply deodorant is at night time after shower, overnight it controls perspiration

Lamaitresse · 05/11/2017 20:56

OP do you not feel disgusting though? Apart from your bits & pits, do your legs not feel horrible in bed at night if you haven’t washed?

I shower every day, hair washed every other day. The only time I haven’t really washed/showered is when I’ve been hospitalised with hyperemisis and i would put off showering as long as I possibly could as it was almost impossible for me to stand up & I had to wait for someone to help me. Have to say that I felt absolutely horrible, with legs that stuck together in bed & smelly too 🤢
Feeling fresh is just lovely 🤗

Feet too! Do the strip washers somehow get their feet in to the sink?

Agree, it's also so lovely to feel fresh and clean.

midnightmisssuki · 05/11/2017 21:05

this must be a wind up. Surely no one thinks this is normal?! If its not a wind up - this is super gross OP. I think your friends are trying to tell you something. Please for Gods (and everyone around you sake's) WASH MORE OFTEN!

paxillin · 05/11/2017 21:15

Feet too! Do the strip washers somehow get their feet in to the sink?

Yes, stand on left foot, dip the right. Then swap. It is often done out of necessity not choice. As I mentioned earlier, not all of us grew up in a rich country with a bath or shower in every house. And there are lots of people with very little money and heating 60 litres of water for a shower or 80 for a bath is expensive. I have a shower and all the hot water I want. I didn't always.

MasterofKittens · 05/11/2017 21:17

Shower every day. More than that and you're stripping your skin of essential oils and moisture

HighwayDragon1 · 05/11/2017 21:22

Face and pits daily, full shower and hair wash every 3 days.

That’s when I don’t smoke. Even worse when I do. I change my clothes, wash my hands and brush my teeth every time I pick one of the DCs up. (Which is what the nhs advise actually)

So glad I’ve quit again
The washing has gone down already and only on day 4

What’s imo?

I may have OCD and not realise it though it takes 3 hours a day to clean the house and I still think it’s dirty
