Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?

Please everyone stop saying pits and bits!

WickedLazy · 06/11/2017 17:08

I bath or shower (often a relaxing bath, then a shower), every other day, sink wash (face, neck, hands, under arms, under boobs, bits and feet) with a flannel, and scrub face with exfoliating stuff every morning. Trying to wash hair less now, as it gets greasy very quickly (and I think I've been over washing it). Dc gets a shower or bath every second or third day, flannel wash every morning.

Delatron · 06/11/2017 17:27

Pits, bits, flannel wash, strip wash..
Just hop in the shower! (Unless you are ill)

It must able more of a faff washing all these flannels.

WickedLazy · 06/11/2017 17:31

If I get in the shower, the steam makes my hair go crazy. As do shower caps. And too many showers make my skin feel dry. Dirty flannels get flung in the washing bag, I do a wash at least ever other day anyway.

WickedLazy · 06/11/2017 17:31

*washing basket

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 06/11/2017 17:46

I shower 1-2 times a week, wash my face twice a day and wash my pits every 1-2 days (everyday if it’s a really hot day).

Delatron · 06/11/2017 17:47

What about the rest of you?! It's not just pits that get smelly.

What happens after exercise?!

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 06/11/2017 17:47

My hair doesn’t need the constant washing.

Fragglewump · 06/11/2017 17:52

In the summer everyday. In the winter I will sometimes miss out a day of showering but would wash my face, my groin and armpits as a bare minimum. 1-2 times a week would be unpleasant for those around you. I can smell unwashed flesh and it makes me feel queasy!

franktheskank · 06/11/2017 17:55

I shower or bath every day but only because I have sex every night or morning unless there’s a reason not to, I don’t want to walk around all day smelling like jizz🤢😂

Ecureuil · 06/11/2017 18:24

What about your bum crack? Your feet? They only get washed once or twice a week? Grim.

All you who don’t shower daily, do you not exercise?

Ollivander84 · 06/11/2017 18:37

I exercise Smile and I shower/bath after. But I don't exercise every day hence why I shower every other day. I mean it's not set in stone! If I feel I need/want to then it might be every day and usually is in summer

NameChangeFamousFolk · 06/11/2017 18:47

This thread's starting to make me feel a bit ill. I didn't realise that reading about other people's washing habits could be so... grim.

BakedBeans47 · 06/11/2017 19:35

I don’t get the strip washing either. Why the hell would you stand on one leg dooking your foot in the sink? Not to mention I don’t think I’d particularly want potential foot debris near where I brush my teeth. The only time I have ever done a strip wash is when our hot water has been broken so bath and showers aren’t an option. If I didn’t have a shower I’d at least run a shallow bath and stand and wash properly there rather than at the sink

paxillin · 06/11/2017 19:41

As I said, BakedBeans47, not everybody has a bath or shower. And some do, but haven't always. And not everyone has the money to heat 60 litres (shower) or 80+ litres (bath) so has to do it. Modern bath rooms are recent for many countries, MN is international. Foot debris is the least of your worries if you either don't have the mod cons or the money.

Ecureuil · 06/11/2017 19:44

That is true paxillin, however I’d be interested to see how many people here who strip wash rather than shower/bath do so because they haven’t got a shower or bath.

BakedBeans47 · 06/11/2017 19:45

How many people (in the UK) really don’t have a bath or shower these days? It must be a minuscule number. Of course if there’s no other option you’d have to crack on with it but standing around dipping feet in a sink when there’s a bath or shower there too does seem a bit odd.

PortiaCastis · 06/11/2017 19:47

In some cases it depends how much credit is on the electricity meter whether or not a shower can be achieved

paxillin · 06/11/2017 20:12

I did when I was younger. I did not grow up in the UK and I did not have a shower or bathtub. I later had a bathtub that needed to be heated up by starting a coal fire to heat a tank, with coals that had to be carried upstairs. Took ages to warm. A long and laborious task, so done weekly. Strip wash takes two kettles full of water, achieved in minutes.

And as Portia says, the electricity bill is likely a bigger concern in the UK.

Ohwhatfun · 06/11/2017 20:48

You may find that many people that live in a council house have a bath only, no shower.

Bonez · 06/11/2017 20:59

I wash twice a day. How I wash varies. I will always have a shower in the morning or else I'll feel gross during the day. Then I'll have a bath (to relax and clean myself) or a quick shower before getting into bed. If I skip my evening bath/shower I don't feel comfortable.

Bonez · 06/11/2017 20:59

Sorry meant to say I wash my hair every 2-3 days though!

expatinscotland · 06/11/2017 21:03

'How many people (in the UK) really don’t have a bath or shower these days?'

Our HA doesn't supply a shower. You have to apply to put one in and do it at your own expense after approval.

PortiaCastis · 06/11/2017 21:08

These homeless people won't have a shower

Bath morning and evening and hair was every day. Sorry OP but you must stink. What about your feminine hygiene?
