Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?

So if Monday and a Thursday are wash days then you were out last night and hadn’t even bothered to have a shower before a night out? Minging.

I also agree your friends are nicely trying to tell you and the one bath a week friend that you don’t wash enough. I have literally never had a conversation with friends about how often we wash.

sadiemm2 · 05/11/2017 19:04

I have a chronic pain condition, which means bathing and showers can be exhausting... But I feel dirty if I don't. An extreme flannel wash suffices if Im properly shattered, but still prefer a bath. I couldn't shower twice a week. I worked with someone who never showered or washed their clothes. They stank, and HR had to get involved to tell them to fucking wash

Maelstrop · 05/11/2017 19:08

I have a bath about three times a week, more if I've been active. I dislike showers. It was hard when I was physically unable to get in the bath (accident, couldn't walk for quite a while) and we don't have a separate shower.

working925 · 05/11/2017 19:10

Bath every night - shower every morning. A lot I know!!

hamptonmummy · 05/11/2017 19:14

I only wash once a month !!! I hate getting wet Blush

Pancakeflipper · 05/11/2017 19:20

No way @Hamptonmummy you must wash more than that. Unless you never move.

Shower everyday for me.
And this evening also a bath as spent 3 hrs gardening and was muddy and really cold.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 05/11/2017 19:22

I shower every day but hair washed twice a week. Most week days I shower in the gym before work and there is no way of getting my hair dry if I wash it..

I am not sure that everyone needs to shower every single day but it takes a few minutes and unless you have a skin or medical problem can't see why you wouldn't want to?

Redglitter · 05/11/2017 19:23

You have got to be kidding. One shower a month? No way could anyone think that was acceptable

Ollivander84 · 05/11/2017 19:24

Every other day for me but it depends what I've been doing. If I've been exercising or sweaty then I shower but generally every other day is fine. Wash hair every 3-4 days, conditioner only

CupcakeEater · 05/11/2017 19:26

daily, hair wash every other day

Lovingit81 · 05/11/2017 19:31

I don't get how you don't smell. I think you probably do a bit up close but because none of your mates wash much nobody can smell it. Seriously....daily washing please.

Lovingit81 · 05/11/2017 19:31

Ps once a month!!!????????? WTF???

riceuten · 05/11/2017 19:32

Shower once a day, hair wash twice or three times a week. I would expect a partner to do broadly the same.

Delatron · 05/11/2017 19:39

This is souch an eye opener I thought that (unless ill) everyone showers daily....

I'm assuming the once a month post was a joke.

Indie139 · 05/11/2017 19:40

Bath every morning. Sometimes I'll have another one at night too. Anything less than once a day and I'll stink! Wash hair once a week (I have afro hair so don't have to wash it any more often than that)

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2017 19:42

For those that don’t wash daily but think they don’t smell. I would politely point out that the vast majority of people who smell don’t know they do and have to be told my somone. Yes there are people who know and don’t care, but this isn’t the case for the majority most of them simoly can’t smell themselves.

I always think it’s like perfume, you know how you put your favourite perfume on and after an hour you can no longer smell it,,,but everyone else can? I think as the odour builds up on a person, they simply can’t smell it like they can’t smell their perfume. Everyone else can though.

Our bodies and hair attract dirt and grime, we sweat in our sleep, and it dries on our skin, stale sweat smells. The fact you personally can’t smell your own odour does not mean it doesn’t exist. As demonstrated by the many people who smell bad and don’t know it because they can’t smell it themselves.

ChristinaParsons · 05/11/2017 19:42

I bathe when I fall off my horse, about twice a year. I shower most days

Pebbles16 · 05/11/2017 19:44

My DH recently stopped working (and going to the gym every day) and has stopped showering. It's fucking grim. I've had to rewash his clothes because you start to iron them and the stench is unbearable. I shower at least once a day. Usually in the evening (live in London, you need to remove the grey)

Ivygarden · 05/11/2017 19:44

Shower (& wash hair) daily and my children have a bath every evening.

Delatron · 05/11/2017 19:46

Yes, the odd day at the weekend my DH doesn't have a shower and he does pong a bit and I tell him.

No wonder other countries think we have poor personal hygiene. Anything less than every day is really not enough, unless you aren't leaving the house that day I guess.

hamptonmummy · 05/11/2017 19:48

I'm aware I probably do stink but I'm really not bothered

Ollivander84 · 05/11/2017 19:51

Bluntness - I know when I smell! If I've been at the stables and ridden then gone home later, I can smell sweaty and need to shower

Definitely when I couldn't shower post op and was strip washing, after about 4-5 days I really needed a full shower
But every other day if I'm not doing anything strenuous works fine for me. Same with my hair, every 4 days is fine

Consideringbeingamom · 05/11/2017 19:52

Shower every day, wash hair twice a week. Not washing every day is antisocial in my opinion.

stardust18 · 05/11/2017 19:55

Either bath or shower ever night and wash and dry my hair. Even if I'm sick or just out of hospital or pissed as a rat I won't miss a night. I've been known to stumble home at 2am jump in the shower and go to bed with my hair soaking wet.
I don't think I stink I don't even really sweat but I need to feel clean to get into my bed.
I'm sat writing this while in the bath 🛀

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 05/11/2017 19:58
