Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?
New poster, this is light hearted. Grin

Another ‘how often do you wash’ thread? This has been done at least 3 million times (in the past week alone) surely?

Not kidding myself Smile I'm always aware of my own odours (due to not being able to wash as much as I'd have liked I was always paranoid that I smelled). I also have extremely honest friends and family. Who did tell me that I stank when I had an abscess under my armpit (oh god that was awful - but there was nothing I could do until it had been sorted). Grin
I don't know what "fresh" smells like but I presume you mean pleasant/clean. In which case yes, I probably didn't smell like I'd just got out of a fresh hot bath. But I certainly didn't smell bad/dirty either and the times where I did (if I had to bathe less often) I was very, very aware of it and wouldn't leave the house

Dobopdidoo1 · 04/11/2017 02:07

TBH, friends and family aren’t the best people to judge as they will have got used to your smell.

I have the nose of a bloodhound and it’s really obvious if someone hasn’t washed no matter how much deodorant is used.

Growing up, family home have always been a wet room so I'm more of a shower person. Bathing makes me feel like I'm drowning Smile. I'm also not a keen bather especially after experiencing student house share of shower over bath. The slipperiness/amount of skin flecks(?) stuck afters due to inconsiderate housemate lazy rinsing after a bath. It was only after I saw a TV program about Japanese Onsen and the etiquette of rinsing or scrubbing yourself before soaking makes total sense.

Haha..just read the op, Bathe not bath.. so shower everyday bath once or twice a year.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/11/2017 02:15

Twice a day. Morning and night. I very rare soak in the bath, though. As soon as I've washed my hair I get out

steff13 · 04/11/2017 02:26

I shower roughly every day. I work from home, so I skip occasionally if I haven't done anything but sit at a desk all day.

I have to say, I've NEVER had a conversation with my girlfriends about personal hygiene. How did this come up?

NameChangeFamousFolk · 04/11/2017 02:28

So, OP. Where does this leave all your discussions with 'the girls'? It's unusual to consider washing only twice a week excessive.

Any thoughts having read these replies ?

RedBullBlood · 04/11/2017 02:43

Being thin of skin myself (although it's clean skin) I would be wondering if someone was trying to tell me something as well.

Your friend who thinks twice a week is too much must be minging.

SabineUndine · 04/11/2017 02:45

Bath or shower twice a day.

GetOutOfMYGarden · 04/11/2017 02:54

About every other day with strip washes daily. Depends what I'm up to though, if it's that time of the month or I'm trying to be good and go to the gym a lot I'll be showering daily. If it's a weekend and I'm doing nothing I may just chill in my pyjamas for two days.

adCampaign · 04/11/2017 03:00

Shower every morning. A bath 3-4 times a week.

OkPedro · 04/11/2017 03:09

What the hell is a "strip wash"
If it means washing your body at the sink rather than the shower, surely it takes the same amount of time to "strip wash" and to shower?

I shower every other day and wash my hair 3 times a week. I wear clean clothes and pjs every day. I couldn't be arsed with daily showering and I'm in awe of those who shower twice a day Grin

fashunn · 04/11/2017 05:53

Twice a week is GRIM. So you just have a build up of BO, urine, shit & other bodily fluids most days of the week? Whoever said you’re washing too much was being sarcastic or a bit tipsy...

I shower daily, every morning then after gym/work/before going out again. (I only wash my hair twice a week though) I bathe on occasion, just to relax with a bath bomb.

Can’t understand people who don’t wash daily, a full scrub in the shower with shower gel & a puff/gloves literally takes 10 minutes? Such an inconvenienceHmm

Picklepickle123 · 04/11/2017 05:57

What is a strip wash?

berliozwooler · 04/11/2017 06:02

Every other day is only once more than the OP.

thiskittenbarks · 04/11/2017 06:05

Shower every day. Bath and a thorough scrub once a week. Occasionally I’ll sleep through my alarm and have a quick “posh wash”. Occasionally if I’m just at home cleaning the house I won’t wash until I’m finished as cleaning makes me sweat.
I feel gross if I even pop to the supermarket and I’ve not showered - not sure how anyone could cope with twice a week.

TheHodgeHeg · 04/11/2017 06:14

I shower every morning and wash my hair. Shower again most evenings (no hair washing in the evening though).

EllieThornton · 04/11/2017 06:30

When you say you "wash twice a week", is that in summer or winter?

speakout · 04/11/2017 06:30

I've never been with anyone who thinks washing twice a week is excessive.

I shower every day, and although I agree too much soap is bad for the skin, some bits really do need soaping.
I don't use shower gel everywhere, just the parts that need it - undercarriage, armpits, under breasts. The rest - bits that don't get smelly, like my back, knees, forearms etc, just get washed with plain water.

pinkliquorice · 04/11/2017 06:46

I think everyday is the right answer, women, boys, girls, men all should be washing daily.
What worries me even more than someone only washing twice a week is the people who are telling you that is too much!?
I feel very guilty and gross if me or one of DC have every had to wait until the next day

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/11/2017 06:53

Daily. I have ME/CFS. When I’m really ill every other day. I’m far far too ill to work btw. No excuse for not showering daily if you’re fit and healthy. You must pong.

blueskyinmarch · 04/11/2017 06:56

When you say wash twice a week do you mean shower or bath? Or do you literally just wash at the sink twice a week? Either way that is pretty rank. Are there people in your group who wash less than that?

I shower and wash my hair daily. If I don’t I feel horrible. If I showered only twice a week I would smell really bad. Are your friends trying to tell you something?

steff13 · 04/11/2017 07:00

Every other day is only once more than the OP.

Someone who washes every other day is washing about 4 times a week, aren't they? That's twice what the OP is doing.

Bluntness100 · 04/11/2017 07:03

Ehrm, do you work? Do you not, smell? I would if I washed twice a week.😧

I shower every day if working in office or going out. I might let it slip a day if just staying home and not particularly active, but no more than that.

I can’t beleve you know someone who thinks twice a week is too much...

bathghter · 04/11/2017 07:05
