To ask the worst funeral behaviour you've seen?

I went to a funeral today.
open coffin at home.
People were filing past the coffin to pay their respects when someone decided they wanted to get to the crem in a hurry.
Cue pushing and shoving and the coffin almost fell of the stand. Saved by the mans wife!
Also random women wailing. Seriously no
Need.

Anyone turning up who barely knew the person because a funeral is 'the only place all the family get together anymore'. Maybe this is only my family but it's incredibly bad taste imo.

Wouldn't judge the person rushing too quickly. Being around a dead body can be very frightening for some. Wouldn't surprise me if someone was trying to run out during a panic attack.

Only been to a few, one that stands out is a phone going off during my mum's, twice! As I read the eulogy. Didn't really mind though to be honest. I know everyone who'd shown up was there out of love for her or me/my brother and that they were probably mortified. Did laugh at them not silencing it after the first time though. Didn't find out who it was but assume they just clicked it off in a rush and didn't think to silence it for another call.

At my dads funeral (he'd sadly committed suicide) him and my mum hadn't been together since I was 5 (I was 24 at the time and had to arrange the funeral) and his girlfriend and her sons turned violent and tried to attack me and my brothers right outside the crem. It was horrendous

Kitty I did judge the person who was rushing as they said in a loud stage whisper hurry up we need to get to the crem! Parkings shite and there'll be nowhere to sit!

One where the man's landlord showed up just as the coffin was being walked out of the building and told his son's that he had changed the locks on his business and told them he wouldn't give them the keys until they paid out the rest of the lease. There was a fist fight in the middle of the street.

I’ve seen worse as I work at a crem...some people’s behaviour is beyond shocking (person left a bottle of piss on the coffin)

The officiated getting the dead man's wrong over and over again. And doing an off the cuff bit, while nearly hugging the coffin, about what he was like. She'd never met him.

Thankfully his sons saw the funny side and half the congregation were in stitches. But it actually wasn't at all okay.

Gosh loads. I am from a large Irish catholic family. Aunts fighting over my Nans Argos jewellery , uncles who were pall bearers so pissed they nearky fell in the grave as they lowered the coffin in and so much more

Family funeral and a distant cousin turned up with a skirt so short you could see the crease of her arse. No knickers either . Apparently it was "to give the men a thrill"Shock it was the shortest skirt anyone had ever seen. Another family member ( quite rightly) absolutely blasted her.

The person who happily took a very banal phone call from me, talked for a few minutes about nothing in particular then said “actually, gotta go, Tiger - I’m at a funeral “. Why on earth didn’t he switch off his phone or at least say ‘not now’!!!

My ex-partner lost his 3 year old son very suddenly. He was naturally bereft and drank too much at the wake and his ex-girlfriend saw this as the appropriate time to hit on him in front of me. Obviously I had no choice but to bite my tongue and leave them too it.

I remember it as an unimaginably awful day made even worst than it had to be.

Dame I wonder are we related? Someone turned up to my DGF's funeral in hot pants (it was winter and cold). Dgf was the most straight laced, staunchly conservative man so no idea why she thought that attire was appropriate.

Not 'bad' behaviour as such, but I once saw a woman wrestle a soft toy from her toddler in order to throw it into the grave 'because grandpa needs it more than you.' The poor kid was in floods of tears.

DP's Nan's funeral earlier this year. It was only her children and partner's in the family cars (large family and no way to get everyone in a couple of cars). One of her daughter's partner just turned up with his teenage daughters (not related to the family) and expected her to get in family car's when not even D & brother / cousins (pallbearers) we're in family cars.

At the wake he also started to cause trouble by shouting in the face of Nan's son and caused a huge argument. He's an arse. Also now causing issues with the sale of her house.

My sil and her husband brought their dog to my home, shortly after my darling husband was laid out in the front room, as they didn't want it to be upset at being left at home. 😒 As I was standing looking down at my darling, same arse, brushed past me to place the back of his hand on my husband's cheek. He then said, loudly, "that wee hot spot isn't there, anymore. There was a wee hot spot on his cheek when he was in the funeral home". I stood there in shock and feel sick at the fact he was near my husband. I couldn't face going to funeral home after he died in the hospice, as I couldn't cope with the thought of leaving him and I had to look after the kids. I fucking detest that man.

My stepmother turned up at a family members funeral with a massively short skirt with everything showing when she sat down.

At my dad's funeral she spoke to the vicar and whilst reading the eulogy he was only given the names of his step sisters and their boyfriends (not even long term) and didn't even mention me or my sister.

God there's some awful cunts around!

Another one I have is where the family nearly came to blows over the casket chosen.
One of the sons complained bitterly that they should have gone for the cheaper one cus dad was a skinflint and wouldn't have appreciated the slightly more costly one.
Never mind that the deceased had ordered and paid for it when he knew his illness was terminal to save the family doing it.
Son wanted the difference between the cheaper coffin and the chosen one as he felt he deserved it.

At the funeral of a good friend, her "D"P was well supported by their ndn. But lots of people suspected that something was going on. This was confirmed at the Wake. And the NDN moved in 6 weeks later and rented out her house to fund their holidays. My friend deserved much, much better.
