Or rather the parents that chose it?

Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasnt joking.

Well, to give her the benefit of the doubt it's not that different to calling a child Prince or Queenie or Duke (not unknown in America)

meanapparently · 17/09/2017 19:30

I'd judge yeah. I hate it when people give their kids names which may damage their future prospects. Someone I know has just called her baby boy Ozzy Hmm

CamperVamp · 17/09/2017 19:30

And it might be Kai, misheard by an 8 year old.

CamperVamp · 17/09/2017 19:31

Ozzy is great!

PavlovianLunge · 17/09/2017 19:31

Maybe she's a fan of the Usual Suspects.

LewisFan · 17/09/2017 19:33

Maybe their surname is Chief Grin

wowfudge · 17/09/2017 19:33

Maybe they are German speakers? Bloody awful name though.

Brittbugs80 · 17/09/2017 19:34

Reminds me of a child I looked after who insisted his neighbours were called Conker and Tuna (Connor and Junior)

HappyLollipop · 17/09/2017 19:34

It's one of those American names because there's a girl on teen mom called jennelle who's son is named kaiser which I think made it more popular too.

PointlessUsername · 17/09/2017 19:35

I actually like it.

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 17/09/2017 19:36

On hols in Wales about 8 years ago there was a Jamiroquai (?) in Poundland....
Wonder if he got Jam for a nn.

x2boys · 17/09/2017 19:39

Yep teen mom Janelle Evans Kaiser must be about three now it's not a name I would choose but it's not the worst.

formerbabe · 17/09/2017 19:40

I've heard worse.

Ansumpasty · 17/09/2017 19:41

I've heard a lot worse.

RJnomore1 · 17/09/2017 19:42

Ha you've all just reminded me of dd1s little friend Custard who lived next door to her gran.

His mum called him Curtis!

PyongyangKipperbang · 17/09/2017 19:44

I just cannot imagine naming a kid after the honour title of the bad guy in WWI.

OP posts:
NataliaOsipova · 17/09/2017 19:44

Is his second name Wilhelm by any chance....?

babyinthacorner · 17/09/2017 19:44

I know a girl called Kaisa, it's a Scandinavian name.

NataliaOsipova · 17/09/2017 19:45

Pyongyang. Cross post! My thoughts exactly. What would they go for for number 3? Tsar? Fuhrer? Chairman? The list is endless.....

stopbeingadramallama · 17/09/2017 19:47

What a terrible name 😐

x2boys · 17/09/2017 19:48

I.knew a Kasia I went to school with her but it was pronounced kasha I think her parents were polish?

Ttbb · 17/09/2017 19:48

That's actually a fairly common name-most people are so ingnorant of history and baked goods these days that they probably don't even get the connotations

Charolais · 17/09/2017 19:52

I live in the U.S. and some of the names here are hilarious. There was a woman named ‘Vendetta' on the TV yesterday.

Butterymuffin · 17/09/2017 19:54

Fans of the Kaiser Chiefs maybe?

BurnTheBlackSuit · 17/09/2017 19:56

My child told me his friend was called Dude.

(Turned out it was Jude)
