Or rather the parents that chose it?

Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasnt joking.

It's just German for 'Caesar'. As well as Wilhelm II, it was the title of about 800 years' worth of Holy Roman Emperors (and their German and Austrian successors).

Beeziekn33ze · 17/09/2017 19:59

DD's little friend in Reception wasn't 'Tarzan' it transpired but Charlotte!

WorraLiberty · 17/09/2017 20:01

I thought Raquel Welch was called 'Racko Welsh' until I was about 20 Blush

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 17/09/2017 20:02

I think on a list of dodgy baby name choices, this is wayyyyyyy towards the 'normal' end.

Enko · 17/09/2017 20:07

I don't mind it I wouldn't choose it but I wouldn't be thinking Errr? either

I agree, it's not like it was Kaiser Wilhelm's name...

MyCatHasStaff · 17/09/2017 20:15

DS's friend was in fact Elliot, not Idiot.

daisypond · 17/09/2017 20:15

Yes, it just means Caesar. A bit like Prince or Rex. Sounds OK for a dog, but not the worst of all possible names for a human.

Mulch · 17/09/2017 20:16

Definitely a dog name

dontbesillyhenry · 17/09/2017 20:16

Idiot 😂

naomi83mother · 17/09/2017 20:18

Theres worse....there is a Shakira in my daughters school.

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 17/09/2017 20:19

Worra I grew up calling her Racko too because my mum did! I'm sure I only realised once Raquel Trotter came along. Lovely name when you think about it

maddiemookins16mum · 17/09/2017 20:19

At least it's not James for a girl (perfectly ok on MN) but none of my mates would think ok, in the real world.

kali110 · 17/09/2017 20:20

Wouldnt judge.
I don't think it's unusual ( or though i wouldn't pick it).
As mentioned someone on tm2 has also used it so more people will npw follow on.

DinnaeKnowShitFromClay · 17/09/2017 20:20

I know a Sherpa (girl) and Zane (boy). Neither come close to the awful name a DC has recently been given in the family though. It is so bad I nearly died when I heard it and assumed the Dad was pranking me but....no.

BelindaBlinked · 17/09/2017 20:22

I see some truly awful children's names in my job.
We had a khaleesi in last week.

SoggyTuesday · 17/09/2017 20:22

Know a dog called Kaiser, helpful?

Dustbunny1900 · 17/09/2017 20:24

On the scale of weird names it's not exactly offensive or mind boggling.

WorraLiberty · 17/09/2017 20:27

Yes, I think it was my Mum's Irish accent Grin

daisypond · 17/09/2017 20:30

What's wrong with Shakira? It's a normal Arabic name.

Foggymist · 17/09/2017 20:31

I can't all the popular (mostly American) names like Cayden, Brayden, Aubree, etc, but I'm ashamed to admit I quite like Teen Mom's Janelle's baby girls name, Ensley Blush Can't get over Chelsea's ex in it having a daughter called Paislee though!

CurlyBlueberry · 17/09/2017 20:32

My little girl is called Emily but her big brother pronounced it ENEMY for a very long time!

We now sometimes call her L'Bem (as if it's French... le bem) as a nickname and he has also shouted this out in shops - I'm guessing some people may have overheard and thought we named our child L'Bem Grin

Seeingadistance · 17/09/2017 20:32

When I was in Primary 1 a boy came back after the Christmas holidays and told us his mum had had a baby on Christmas Eve, and the baby was called Jesus! We were all very impressed.

He came back to school the next day and said, actually, the baby's called Jason.

Grin
