Or rather the parents that chose it?

Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasnt joking.

I went to school with a Kaiser. Said Kay-ser not Kye-ser

There is a local family who have a Beyoncé and Rihanna as their kids name I nearly pissed myself laughing when I was introduced to Beyoncé

CountessOfStrathearn · 17/09/2017 21:08

It is a name growing in popularity! (Won't be adding this to the shortlist if there's another one though.)

I'm not sure that Paisley is any worse than Aubree or Watson though

Clearly you've never visited Paisley then!Grin

As a child I thought my neighbour was called Violin, learned later that she was of course Violet.

Jakeyboy1 · 17/09/2017 21:10

My daughter told nursery that her new baby sisters middle name was Honey. It's Connie. 😂

Dionysus78 · 17/09/2017 21:13

My niece once came back from a wedding saying she'd made friends with 'Medicine.' Obviously, it was actually Maddison.

girlingerrupting · 17/09/2017 21:13

I just have to say I'm crying with laughter at this thread. The one whose sibling was rajbinder, rumplestiltskin and Eric?!?!! I love children they are hilarious
We have a few place names my DSs class my v normal northern dad always gets my kids to recount the names in their class then just sits there chuckling.

Fekko · 17/09/2017 21:15

When ds was little one of the other kids in nursery was adamant that my name was Nigeria (it isn't).

SumAndSubstance · 17/09/2017 21:17

When my sister Rachel was born, our cousin told everyone that her name was 'Churchill'!

cunningartificer · 17/09/2017 21:18

Child at school seriously told me their new little brother was called Spot. Unmovable on this.

Asked him to check.

Was actually Mark. Smile

diddl · 17/09/2017 21:18

"Maybe she's a fan of the Usual Suspects"

I thought that-Keyser(?)

A derivation of Kaiser/Caesar.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 17/09/2017 21:18

I was awestruck my childhood babysitter was called "Bovril".

"Avril" somehow didn't impress me, or my kindergarten friends, as much.

Sidenote: Haven't heard the name Avril around for years. Anyone know one?

worlybear · 17/09/2017 21:19

Taught a Lenin once...I kid you not!

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 17/09/2017 21:19

Ha, thanks for this thread which has made me chuckle.

I heard myself being talked about at a English Heritage property when I called DD1 "Rainbow Dash". We were playing an extended game of My Little Pony, of course, but it's nice to know that I look confident enough to call my kids something so yooneek.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/09/2017 21:20

I do but she'd be in her early 30's now. Not come across it since.

BellMcEnd · 17/09/2017 21:21

There's a Crystal-Alice round here. No prizes for guessing her Dad's football affiliation.......

AtSea1979 · 17/09/2017 21:22

Heard worse.

I know a John-Lewis.

Peregrina · 17/09/2017 21:24

I knew someone once who called her baby Jewels, and no, she insisted it wasn't the French way, Jules. Poor lad will be grown up now, and I wonder how he got on with the name.

Fekko · 17/09/2017 21:24

Me too! And a peter jones!

TheLegendOfBeans · 17/09/2017 21:25

I love the name Avril...but would you have to have your DD born in April for it to "work"?

Ps: Kaiser I associate with

  • Jenelle from Teen Mom
  • my American friend's Doberman Pinscher (brother of "Rommel" Hmm)

My 3 month old son is Roque (pronounced Rock). His very jealous 4 year old brother calls him Bob the Blob. Poor Roque.

stopbeingadramallama · 17/09/2017 21:31

I went to school with someone called Jack Daniels🙈
