Or rather the parents that chose it?

Overheard in the local shop a young girl (8ish) telling her friend that her new baby brother is being called....Kaiser. She wasnt joking.

Kaiser = czar = Caesar.

Cesare and Cesar are popular names in Italian and Spanish. Not too different from Roman rulers names which are popular with the middle and upper classes in Britain.

Drspouse

That reminds me of when DS (age 2.5)came to see his baby sister in hospital for the first time.

His friend at nursery had recently had a baby brother called Jack. DS was apparently asking his grandparents where 'his baby Jack' was, when they were walking through the hospital to see me and DD.

He is 19 and I still remind him of his mistake!!

Incidently Jack and DD are now on the same BTEC at college, despite their family leaving our primary when she and Jack were in reception. Small world!

kath6144 · 17/09/2017 22:12

Oh and DD has a friend called Avril, generally known as Av.

goose1964 · 17/09/2017 22:15

Kaiser Bill is feeling ill etc he'll love doing 1st world war in history

SuperBeagle · 17/09/2017 22:18

Kaiser's not horrible. Queenie is a relatively acceptable name, and it's not really any different.

Fernanie · 17/09/2017 22:21

Long after we realised our uncle's name was in fact Cyril he remained "Uncle Cereal" to myself and my DB.
I'm ambivalent about Kaiser.

imaddictedtomn · 17/09/2017 22:26

I know a child called Tyson. At 2 years old he had a skinhead and one ear pierced!

Absolutely terrible.

scottishdiem · 17/09/2017 22:30

DP works with a Kaiser. He is in his 30s.

YetAnotherNC2017 · 17/09/2017 22:31

I know a Shakira (not Arabic - very much a white British atheist family), a Peaches and a China.

Bizarre.

paxillin · 17/09/2017 22:31

I'd go for nickname. A close friend calls my DS "King". It isn't his name.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 17/09/2017 22:33

DS was absolutely insistant he went to school with Greece and Lemon. Of course it was Reece and Lennon. There was quite a while where he wouldn't be told though.

Worst ones I've heard of are Joop-Armani and DKNY (pronounced Dick knee).

I see some very interesting ones in my job, just wish I could remember them! I think there are so many Hmm names, they seem to not register. I'm amazed when I read normal names, they seem to be few and far between.

I've heard of a Dottie-Mae. Can't see her becoming a judge.

Saw a Bear as a middle name the other day. Guess Cheryl is making that popular. A few Loki's. One name had a long double barrelled first name and a long double barrelled sir name. You do wonder what on earth goes through these parents heads!

MissCommunication · 17/09/2017 22:34

I've heard a child answering to Anekin. Just saying.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 17/09/2017 22:36

TellysAndWellys · 17/09/2017 22:43

TellysAndWellys · 17/09/2017 22:44

Oh and a boy in Ikea called Wolf Hmm

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/09/2017 22:47

I've seen a few initials as names like, "Ev" pronouned as "Evie" It makes me quietly seethe.

OwlinaTree · 17/09/2017 22:47

I met someone called Tequila. She'd be about 35/40 now I guess.

Twoweekcruise · 17/09/2017 22:48

I was on holiday last month and a women walked by calling out to her dc, they were called Oregon and Boston!

Binghasalottoanswerfor · 17/09/2017 22:49

I think the worst name I've ever heard is 'Carter'

Orangutango · 17/09/2017 22:51

Great one on our local news Facebook the other day. Child had been called Ryker to the amusement of a few posters when one woman posted that her two were 'Reshaun' and Ryekwan'.

I honestly thought it was a Piss take but her fb was open and they are genuinely called that.

nursy1 · 17/09/2017 22:53

I liked Django for a boy. Met with derision from relatives so I didn't. I think unusual names are fine so long as they have an alternative or two if it turns out you have been overindulgent.
Django Tom maybe? [smiley face]

GreatFuckability · 17/09/2017 22:53

My then 3 year old daughter insisted her new friend at school was called Dickless. It took me a while to figure out it was really Nicholas....

I don't think Kaiser is awful at all personally.

Dizzybintess · 17/09/2017 22:53

I once saw three omits in the park
One yelled come here Hayden, the second yelled and you Jayden.
The third yelled And you Dayden!
What the heck kind of name is dayden!

PyongyangKipperbang · 17/09/2017 22:55

I've heard a child answering to Anekin. Just saying.

My son's friend named his PFB Anakin Luke, but others have named their kids in a way that make GoT monikers sound positively vanilla, so it didnt raise a single eyebrow in their social circle!
