DH and I spent our wedding anniversary in a v expensive boutique hotel. I took the body lotion and soap home as I usually would do (sad, but I get v excited about these things!)Yesterday we received a letter from the hotel asking for us to send the 2 items back for the future enjoyment of guests!!! Talk about humiliation! Looking forward to MNetters views

What makes me laugh is the posters who keep on posting despite every other post having pictures of huge ZOMBIES on

PickAChew · 03/11/2022 23:32

Crikey, my big, hairy 16yo was a cute baby when this tread was started.

The lotion has gone off, by now.

LearnerCook · 03/11/2022 23:32

I was still in my 30s when this thread was started! In my 50s now.😫

CarPoor · 03/11/2022 23:35

I know this thread is a zimbie thread but who knew that people took full sized bottle of soap from a hotel and considered it fairgame? It's been eye opening to say the least

Looks like the terrible move of asking for their soap back didnt hit them too hard anyway

Mine too. What's worse is this thread seems familiar so I probably read it when the lotion and soap was fresh contraband. 😆

heidipi · 03/11/2022 23:39

@oosha ”and after a COVID pandemic that they are reusing toiletries for other guests”…it all happened 15 years before Covid so they never could have imagined (cue swirly time travel music) 😆

can we nominate the thread for classics?

RoundedToast · 03/11/2022 23:41

Please tell me the OP has put an offer in to buy it? I bet she’d include a range of complementary toiletries for every guest! 😀

CarPoor · 03/11/2022 23:42

I live the shock as well OP feels at being accused of stealing whem she did in fact steal Grin This thread has really tickled me, I was only 11 but wish I'd been on MN back in the day! So much drama

MysteryBelle · 03/11/2022 23:55

I wonder if they don’t want guests taking home the regular sized bottles because of their environmental stance. I think it says on their website that they won an environmental award so that is a focus for them. It would explain why they use (fewer) larger plastic bottles and not single-guest use miniature bottles. And why then they expect guests to use what they need then leave bottle for next guest and so on.

That said, they were rude. They should put notices on the bathroom counters stating their policy. Because they are deviating from the norm of having single use products. As a guest, I would rather have single use personal products that have not already been used by other people and possibly have bacteria or just gross stuff in them.

MysteryBelle · 03/11/2022 23:56

Oh my this thread is from 2007?? What?!

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 03/11/2022 23:57

Oh well searched @bamblie - so now we can all get to the end of the zombie thread and read the dénouement. I wonder if the hotel is still reusing those bottles ...

Viviennemary · 04/11/2022 00:04

Another zombie thread. Sigh.,

RachelGreeneGreep · 04/11/2022 00:06

I think I remember when this thread was trending on here - the first time 😀

Topsyturvy78 · 04/11/2022 00:09

Or dispensed it into they're own bottles.😂😂😂

Topsyturvy78 · 04/11/2022 00:13

Exactly this they usually dispense it into fancy bottles or have the small single use one's.

Kennykenkencat · 04/11/2022 00:42

NadineBaggott · 05/04/2007 15:20

I think I'd make a point of staying at Strattons if I need to be in Norfolk and drain all six bottles into my own containers.

petty but rewarding

Great minds think alike.

only thing is I am allergic to everything.
But I would take my own containers to pour things into.
I could see this type of thing happening in a B&B but a £250 per night hotel.
Just thinking about it is just grim.

You don’t know what is in the bottles.

Not being funny but you don’t know what you are putting on your skin.

Topsyturvy78 · 04/11/2022 00:49

So how did this get revived and come up in my trending?😂😂😂

RobertsRadio · 04/11/2022 00:49

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2007.

BEFORE THE LONDON OLYMPICS, BEFORE BREXIT, BEFORE COVID, BEFORE THE INVASION OF UKRAINE, BEFORE THE ENERGY CRISIS.

Remember 2007, when people could afford to heat their homes in winter, when we were still part of Europe, when you didn't have to wait several hours for an ambulance, when the standard waiting time in A&E wasn't 12 hours. When both my aunts, my cousin, a good friend and my Mum were all still alive and my knees didn't ache and creak going upstairs.

Oh for a time machine to go back to 2007.

Topsyturvy78 · 04/11/2022 00:55

If you didn't know already this thread was started 15 years ago. So we are all scratching our heads as to why it's been revived.🤔🙄😂

That would be so nice! Let's all go back.

Haha true I miss those early millennium years. Before social media and everyone was so easily offended.

Shit.

Omg. Me too. What a life. Different times 😔😔😔😔
