Dd 14, back to school and new rule females pupils are not to pull up tights in front of male teachers

Dd 14 had her first assembly of the year this morning, and head mistress / principle has a list of new rules, one including female students are banned from pulling up/ adjusting their 60 denier tights in front of male teachers as she feels this is inappropriate and it must be done in private in bathrooms. Surely this is crazy?

I posted once. Suggesting a (what I thought) was a completely non-controversial alternative to the rule described by the OP.

I was then called goady and disingenuous and my words were twisted. So I clarified my original post. You seem very keen to "win" this one at the expense of me feeling shit and I have no idea why you have chosen my post as the one to go after.

Why create a very narrow rule which seems destined to be divisive?

I would agree that aiming the rule 'because of male teachers' is wrong - it should be clearly labeled as socially unacceptable to show underwear in public

Maybe the Head heard a male teacher complaining and took action rather than issue just a blanket rule on knicker flashing

But the school only has girls, having a rule for girls and boys in a school that only has girls to avoid being sexist is bonkers. Girls are being targeted only in that the school only teaches girls.

So yes. I can well envisage a situation where I could change and tampon and need to do so 10 mins later. If a girl is having that sort of problem she needs a note so that she can go when necessary without having to stay for an explanation.

Yes I always sent a note if dd needed to go to the bathroom quickly and I would be less than impressed if I was told she was lifting up her skirt in public. That exhibition would be against the self respect I taught her, not bothered about what anyone else does I need her to respect herself and others and not exhibit her knickers to a class of teens and a teacher.

Had some mischievous girls been 'flashing' male staff on the pretext of pulling their tights up? Or someone complained 'Sir was LOOKING when I pulled my tights up!'? Such things happen, and can be difficult to laugh off in this over-protective age.

Of course it would be better to do in private but at school, mid lesson, needs must! How silly. Common sense gone mad!

They are NOT 5yr olds i think they are quite reasonable asking secondary aged girls to do this in private but both teenager male students and all teachers should have been included not just male staff

Personally I think tights are the devils work (unless they are cotton or wool - even then I'm very fussy) but those synthetic things - make everything sweaty , falling down, not warm enough on a very cold day. Hate the things.

I hope girls are either allowed to wear trousers instead (it is a human rights violation that British schools are allowed to force girls to wear skirts, anyway), or to go to the bathroom whenever their tights need adjusting, no limits or conditions.

Apart from being a wierdo who thinks uniform should be the same for everybody - What!!? Do girls 'adjust' their clothing in public? Why? Get dressed properly - stay that way or go somewhere private to sort it out. - Not a matter for any difference between M/F teachers. Would you sort your clothing in front of work colleagues? - This is the same thing. We are not talking about children here (no matter how much society infantilises us all) - these are young women and men - they need to get some personal standards. (I know this sounds hard but its just what I think)

How about they bring out a new uniform for teachers, suits and gowns so my kids (and me) don't have to look at their cleavage, cock outlines, bare feet, knees, cerise bras straps, five inch stilettos etc etc

I have 5 daughters and when they wore tights at school I told them to wear a pair of knickers over the top of them. Two of my daughters wore shorts over them instead. None of them ever had a problem then where they would need to adjust or pull tights up in public. If I have to wear tights I put knickers over the top otherwise I end up like Norah Batty lol.
