Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

Not surprised to hear that about Babs to be honest. That ridiculous 'drama' about her life recently was a pile of shite. My sister worked with Billy Connolly donkeys years ago and he was a rude bastard. He may still have been drinking then, I don't know.

isthismummy · 14/07/2017 18:12

A friend of mine once went to a charity event where Alan Shearer was in attendance. She asked for his autograph for her Newcastle United obsessed six year old nephew and he refused. Told her to leave him alone apparentlyShock

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 14/07/2017 18:13

Jim Davidson and Angela Rippon - tho to be fair their attitudes confirmed what I already thought of them !!

ShizeItsWeegie · 14/07/2017 18:13

I detest Billy Connolly so I'm glad about that Earless how he got an award after the Ken Bigley thing I will never know.
Nigel Havers was a bit rude to me once but he might have been having a bad day.

gottachangethename1 · 14/07/2017 18:15

I knew someone who was in the pantomime chorus decades ago with babs. She remembered her as being vile to the rest of the cast and having to rely on wigs as her own hair was piss poor.

CuntWagon · 14/07/2017 18:15

I loathe Barbara Windsor (well the persona she chooses at least, you might be the total opposite in real life). I itch whenever she's on the telly.

isthismummy · 14/07/2017 18:16

I also once did some film extra work with a woman who'd been on set with Maggie Smith a few years previously. Apparently she was incredibly rude to everyone and the make up artists were terrified of her!

DeadGood · 14/07/2017 18:16

I remember watching Barbara Windsor on Who Do You Think You Are. She was weeping and saying something outrageously self-centred like "it is really sad what happened to X, because they were related to me" Hmm

MagicMoneyTree · 14/07/2017 18:18

isthismummy NO!!! I won't believe it!!!!!

DearTeddyRobinson · 14/07/2017 18:20

According to DH, Alan Titchmarsh is rude and horrid. Conversely Jeremy Paxman is charming!

Domino20 · 14/07/2017 18:21

Bill Oddie was filming for 'The Goddies' in my small Welsh hometown, mid '70s. My Mum took me to watch some of the filming and ask for an autograph. He was so obnoxious and rude that I still detest him 40 years later!

SpottedGingham · 14/07/2017 18:24

Russ Abbott - all laughing, joking and willingly signed our programmes.

Bella Emberg - barged past saying "get out the fucking way" Hmm

catgirl1976 · 14/07/2017 18:24

When I was a teenager I managed to meet Bret Anderson from Suede outside a stage door after a gig. I was very much in lurrve with him.

He was a fully grown man, in attendance was his fully grown and stunning girlfriend but I was most put out that he seemed to have no interest in star struck, spoddy, 15 year old me and there was clearly no chance of him taking me home, writing his next album about me, marrying me and then us living a blissful Britpop existence.

I thought that was beyond rude and have never forgiven him for the snub.

Patriciathestripper1 · 14/07/2017 18:25

domino I used to love Bill Oddie Sad

For dh's 30th I was trying to get some happy returns from some of his favourite 'stars'. Bill Bailey being one. I got a very rude email from his secretary saying he doesn't wish to respond to anyone other than agents wishing to book him for said fee. It was so rude. I did manage to get a lovely one from Derren Brown though, and one from Booker T (for those WWE fans out there)

UsedtobeFeckless · 14/07/2017 18:29

Liv Tyler filmed at the museum where I work and used one of the offices to change in. The bods whose office it was left a tin of chocs out with a note saying help yourself. She left them a really nice note back saying thanks and what a interesting place it was! So she's a goody ...

PourMeAGlass · 14/07/2017 18:31

My mum loved Jimmy Nail, so after a seeing him live at our local theatre, we waited at the stage door for an autograph. He was so bloody rude, told us 'to leave him alone, as he'd been at work all night and needed to go home' Envy
She never waited at another stage-door after that, the disappointment was too much Sad

UsedtobeFeckless · 14/07/2017 18:31

Jeremy Clerkson was so obnoxious that he was asked to leave. No chocs for him ...

GhostCurry · 14/07/2017 18:32

Oh I saw Liv Tyler's name and thought "she always seemed so nice" so I'm glad she is Smile

As for Bill Oddie, I have always thought he seemed like a total bastard, and have never heard a good thing said about him.

Snap8TheCat · 14/07/2017 18:34

Well no surprise but Jeremy Kyle was awful when I saw him in a shop recently.

OverTheHammer · 14/07/2017 18:34

Can't we have nice experiences on here too?

My son went campaigning with Tim Farron and had a whale of a time, he told him he was crap at sports so Tim raced him down the street to prove he was worse 😁

Someone I know saw David and Brooklyn Beckham at Glastonbury this year, tried to take a quick photo and David rushed towards him screaming "don't you fucking dare!"

On the contrary, I met Martin Clunes at Glastonbury and he was lovely!

MagicMoneyTree · 14/07/2017 18:34

Jeremy Clerkson was so obnoxious now THAT I can believe.

HarrietSchulenberg · 14/07/2017 18:34

Hugh Dennis was once rather rude to me, and he was between stints on TV at the time, ie not that famous. I held a door open for him, not actually realising who he was, just thought he was some bloke walking behind me. He swanned through without a thank you or any acknowledgement, obviously not realising I was only holding the door to stop it slamming in his face.

Fred Dibnah, on the other hand, was lovely: very funny and engaging, as was Michael Palin, who let me go in front of him in the tea bar queue as he was dealing with the large drinks round he'd just bought for his book editorial team.

SuffolkBumkin · 14/07/2017 18:35

Jodie Kidd went out of her way to help my brother get a apprentiship. It turned his life around. 12 years later he is in the same job and forever grateful for the opportunity.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 14/07/2017 18:35

Alan Davies bumped into me once in a shop & politely apologised.

It didn't even hit me who he was until 10 minutes later.
