Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

I'm going to disagree on Eamon Holmes! I worked at a venue where he was filming once and whilst he would turn on the charm for members of the general public, he was quite rude and snappy with us mere underlings. It was the contrast between the two that bothered me. He came across as insincere and a bit smarmy. From the odd overheard comment, he wasn't well liked by his team either!

I lost a lot of respect for him when Jon Culshaw did that impersonation of him eating the scenery/guests/sofa and Holmes tried to have it blocked and then got lawyers involved! Plenty of other "victims" thorough enjoyed having the michael extracted - Tom Baker, for one.

ChocolatePHD · 30/07/2017 17:02

Saw Bill Nighy in Leicester Square, he realised I recognised him and gave me a big charming smile.

Used to work somewhere that celebs came to sometimes.

Ellen MacArthur really up her own bum.
Michael Palin unpleasant.
Stephen Fry shy and seemed out of it.
Bruce Forsyth v nice.

I once knocked Tracy Emin's drink with my arse while walking to my seat in a restaurant. She said 'oh fucking hell' really loudly.

Dh works with lots of a list sports stars and has never described any of them as rude, although Andy Murray always makes everyone wait around for an obnoxious amount of time.

Damon Albarn from Blur is a obnixous twat. I loved Blur for years, finally meet him and never felt so small and unworthy in my whole life.

Holly Willybooby - was ok.
Tony Hadley - was lovely
Anne Widdicome - so lovely and soooo tiny!
Tina Turner - was lovely
Johnny Mathis - was amazing and so lovely
Dave Grohl - amazing man, so nice and kind.

LadyAsherton · 30/07/2017 19:33

I used to work at a theatre and had the 'do you know who I am' pulled on me a few times... I'd smile sweetly and reply "Yes, but health and safety rules still apply so I'm afraid you can't take glass into the auditorium/park over a fire exit/ignore a fire alarm." delete as applicable. Luckily they were the minority!

RolfNotRudolf · 31/07/2017 18:15

MrsZombieMum I know of someone who knew Damon Albarn when they were both teens and apparently he was up himself then tok

happyhillock · 09/01/2019 11:42

This country is so obsessed with celebrities, what do you expect when you see them, of course there rude and arrogant they don't live in the real world anymore, they forget that it's the paying fan's who made them rich and famous, i wouldn't ask anyone for an autograph, nobody is that important.

ScurfnNerf · 09/01/2019 11:53

Orlando Bloom - nice, friendly, smiley guy.
David Baddiel - met him once in the late 90s and thought he was a bit of a prick, but DH had an embarrassing (for DH) encounter with him and he was very nice to DH about it.
Anthony Joshua - really nice. Decent bloke.
Paul Hollywood - twat. Heard him being rude to some little kids who recognised him.
Michael Heseltine - grumpy.
McKenzie Crook - takes himself a bit seriously.

User758172 · 09/01/2019 12:08

Chatted to Jeremy Clarkson once in an airport bar. He was absolutely charming, so friendly and pleasant.

As was Ian McKellan when I sat on a park bench next to him. So sweet and kind. Richard E Grant is lovely as well. And Brian May.

I haven’t met any nasty celebrities! Although my dad worked with a lot of them at concerts. He played a lot of snooker with George Harrrison at one time and apparently he was great fun, but Prince was one of the most unpleasant people he ever met.

Frenchmom · 09/01/2019 12:37

Met Rio Ferdinand at an airport hotel a few years ago. He was with his children and it was just after his wife had died. He was charming and posed for a photo with my son.
Saw Björk waiting for a plane. I was with a group of very polite teenagers who asked her for her autograph. She was downright rude.

Chewinggumwalk · 09/01/2019 12:39

Happyhillock - why are you bumping old threads about celebrities? Are you bored this afternoon or something?! Grin

Drivemecrazy1974 · 09/01/2019 13:02

Why would you ask somebody to pose for a photo with your son when his wife had just died. Frenchmom? I think that's terrible, to be brutally honest. It's no wonder some celebrities act abruptly with people. It must get very annoying when you're not allowed to get on with things and are expected to be jovial and chatty even if you're just doing day to day stuff.

KeepSmiling80 · 09/01/2019 13:33

@Chewinggumwalk they do this all the time. Digging up threads to get upset about, absolute bellend aren't ya @happyhillock, can't even read a date.

QuestionableMouse · 09/01/2019 13:50

Bit harsh calling someone a bellend. There's nothing wrong with bumping a thread like this. I've never seen it before and have had fun reading through it.

I bumped into Paul Hollywood at a service station. He was rude and did the whole 'dont you know who I am' thing. I looked him in the eye and said no. I've never seen anyone look like that before.

AdobeWanKenobi · 09/01/2019 14:12

How important must happyhillock be to revive a 18 month old thread to impart their opinion.
Truly humbled to be in their company.

KeepSmiling80 · 09/01/2019 14:22

@AdobeWanKenobi should hear what they have to say about Colleen Nolan, groundbreaking.

MrsDrudge · 09/01/2019 14:24

David Jason - the most rude, smug, self important unpleasant little git I’ve ever met. And that’s being nice.

Elphame · 09/01/2019 14:39

Anthony Head is lovely.

Met Francis Matthews once too and he was lovely - that was a very long time ago!

User758172 · 09/01/2019 14:40

@MrsDrudge

Say it isn’t so... he seems so nice?! Disappointed now.

mrswhiplington · 09/01/2019 15:37

Grew up in the same suburb that the great Sir Matt Busby lived. Myself and some friends were in a local restaurant celebrating a couple of birthdays and he was there having a meal with his family. When he was leaving he came over to our table and said happy birthday and to enjoy our meal. We were dumbstruck. Two of my friends were massive Man United fans and it made their day.

monkeytoad35 · 09/01/2019 16:32

I once served Paul Daniels, Nigel Havers and Jeremy Paxton in a shop. They were all nice and friendly to me!

Smokeyrobinson · 09/01/2019 18:11

DH and I have both met Lord Robert Winston - both times he was charming, gracious and very friendly. A really delightful man.

When DD was 11 we met Jamie Redknapp, lots of kids (including my DD) were absolutely star struck and gathered around him. He was absolutely wonderful and spoke to each child in turn, signed autographs and was just so lovely.

MepsiPax · 09/01/2019 18:12

Thought this was going to be a thread announcing her death.

Mummyshark2019 · 09/01/2019 18:45

Gary Oldman is so lovely. We were on the same flight from LA to London and he is so down to earth.

Mummyshark2019 · 09/01/2019 18:46

Mepsi, so did I loo
