Apparently the whole country is waiting to celebrate her birthday (according to ITV)
Well Dh certainly isn't!
He was a big fan when he was a lad, and went to see her in a pantomime.
Waiting at the stage door after the show for an autograph with other star struck youngsters, she came out and told them all to Piss Off and clear off home Shock
He said she was the most horrible, rude person and that he never watched her in anything again.
Which celebs have you met that didn't match up to the pedestal you had them on?

From personal (work) experience, Ben Fogle, Alan Davies & Ed Byrne were all very rude. Most celebs are perfectly nice and the really famous/ successful pay assistants etc to be rude on their behalf.

ginflumpsandzebraprint · 14/07/2017 18:50

Johnny Depp was lovely but obsessed with anything English smelling Blush that was in the 90's though, he was having his make up done and my friends mum got us on set, he kept asking us to say rhubarb and gave us loads of 'tips' Grin

JustadaftProfessor · 14/07/2017 18:50

My sister has met Antony Stewart Head and Bob hoskins, both were apparently lovely.

AntiopeofThemyscira · 14/07/2017 18:50

Miranda lives near me, I have seen her a few times out dog walking and she's always smiley but I think it's because my dog is really cute.

YogaAndRum · 14/07/2017 18:52

Mustard, I shared a driver with Miranda for an event we were both doing and the driver said she was one of the rudest people he has ever driven.

CurbsideProphet · 14/07/2017 18:52

I saw Jimmy Carr at a train station once and watched him stop for a photo with everyone who asked on his way to get on a train. It surprised me, as I has a reputation!

IHaveCausedConfusionAndDelay · 14/07/2017 18:52

Another really lovely person is Mark Rylance - I met him when I was heavily and puked near his feet. He was ever so kind to me and was just like Flop. I cried and told him I loved him in Bing.

Paul o Grady was a right nasty bastard - I was doing some work on his show and needed to ask a question. He was passing and I asked him if he knew where the producer was. He just looked at me like I was a piece of shit and said loudly to his assistant 'make sure everyone not needed in this room is removed now!' clearly meaning me. When he found out that I was needed and was actually fairly important he was all charm and sweetness.

AntiopeofThemyscira · 14/07/2017 18:53

Wingless I met Christian Slater too and he was absolutely lovely. I went to see a play he was in and we waited for autographs at the stage door. I was nine months pregnant and HUGE! He told the crowd to let me through and asked me when my baby was due etc. We had a nice little chat. Nicest celeb I ever met.

LarkDescending · 14/07/2017 18:53

I managed to bump into Hugh Grant a week or two ago (and vice versa - neither of us was looking where we were going). We both did the English thing of abject apologising. He seemed nice for the few seconds we were acquainted Smile

ginflumpsandzebraprint · 14/07/2017 18:53

My mum and dad meet Ozzy and Sharon Osborne at the pub they weren't drinking ! They were lovely and even apologised for swearing because it upset my mumSmile she had a photo but had to Google them

mrsheathy85 · 14/07/2017 18:54

isthismummy Noooooo I love Maggie Smith Sad

AntiopeofThemyscira · 14/07/2017 18:54

Jason Orange was very rude and abrupt. He always seemed the most up himself though when he was in TT.

Foxglovesandsweetpeas · 14/07/2017 18:54

I met Kate Moss at a garden centre once. She wouldn't pose for a photo as she was with her daughter but she was very friendly and nice and I came away happy.

ZombieJenna · 14/07/2017 18:57

I took DSD(17) to see Wicked at the start of the month. She went 'stage dooring' afterwards to try and get an autograph from Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba and DSD's absolute favourite) but unfortunately she was having physio and didn't come out. She did get autographs from Mark Curry (the wizard) and a photo with Suzie Mathers (Glinda).

She went back on the next show night on her way home in the hope of seeing Willemijn before the evening performance. The security guard recognised her and asked a colleague if he saw Ms Verkaik to "tell her this young lady is waiting to meet her". She came out, signed DSD's programme and posed for a selfie with her. DSD was walking on air when she got home and it made her year Smile

I hoped Chris Jarvis would be lovely IRL so I'm relieved Nancy (he is lovely Grin )

Tom Baker (The One and Only Dr Who) was being very loud and chatty to a Waitrose Deli Assistant but soooo charming and lovely.
And his voice ........it is unique.

user1492692527 · 14/07/2017 18:57

Christian Slater is indeed lovely. Genuine nice guy. Worked in an office near Pauline Quirk once, she seemed nice. Shocked about Peter Kaye though - too many people agreeing about him :-(

fluffiphlox · 14/07/2017 19:00

Someone asked about Ricky Gervaise. I saw him and his tall mate filming in Woodstock. Both being charming to onlookers. (Woodstock was done out all 1970s for 'Cemetery Junction ').

PoorYorick · 14/07/2017 19:00

Graham Norton is nice in real life but very boring. To be fair, though, he probably needs to be...you couldn't be 'on' all the time in that persona.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2017 19:01

Oh , and Brian May (Queen) gave me one of his goofy big smiles when DH and I saw him in Tottenham Ct Road (I didn't recognise him Blush , I saw him and knew I knew him but couldn't place him)

DH said "Oh thats Brian May"! (BM was with a young girl, ? his DD)

I didn't even function enough to get an autograph even though I was carrying my Queen "Kind of Magic" Tour ticket in my bag (as I always did)

Ev1lEdna · 14/07/2017 19:01

I cannot stand her or the bloody Carry On films

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 14/07/2017 19:02

Was coming out of a shop one day to look up and see a tall man getting out of a car. It was Bill Nighy on his phone. He saw me looking at him and actually paused his phone call to say 'good morning'. True gentleman.

Am loving this thread btw though sad about any comedian who is rude as I am a big comedy fan.

FodieJoster · 14/07/2017 19:02

Nick Clegg is both super intelligent and very kind.

Seb Coe and Ken Livingstone used to hang out drinking together at a bar I frequented in East London. They were both charmers and quite generous when it came to buying rounds.

I was once in a restaurant in Knightsbridge where Billy Connolly was dining. He was quite drunk and was a bit rude to the waiter. I'd always liked him, so that made me sad, as I'm quite judgmental about people who are rude to those in service jobs.

gingergenius · 14/07/2017 19:02

Got picked once from a group of fans to help Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran set up his photographic exhibition in a swanky gallery in Mayfair - he was very lovely - and very short! I had to iron several canvas banners as I recall - and he told me I made an interesting shadow when I was holding said canvases up to be hung!!!

FodieJoster · 14/07/2017 19:03

Oh and Uma Thurman is lovely, and not at all intimidating. I met her in Central Park NYC with her DC.

Patriciathestripper1 · 14/07/2017 19:03

I love tom baker! Glad he is nice Smile
