To be horrified by people in changing rooms?

I went on a lovely spa day today with a friend as my first day away from my 6 month old dd.
While getting changed for lunch a woman came out of the showers and stood around for about 5 minutes having a chat/getting in my way - right next to me completely starkers! I was getting changed under a towel and my locker was there and the bench the other side of me so I couldn't move without being really awkward as I was obviously using that space.
I wouldn't mind her just getting changed but she didn't, she had a towel round her head and her full bush and boobs out, she wasn't even facing the lockers, it was like she was just parading in my face.
I've no issue with nakedness in changing rooms while getting changed but don't just stand around naked making me feel awkward!
Aibu?

Grin

I agree op but everyone will call us prudes.

lemonsandlimes123 · 03/07/2017 19:29

YABU - you are the unreasonable one for getting changed under a towel! It's a changing room, she was changing, get over it!

harderandharder2breathe · 03/07/2017 19:31

YABU

It's a changing room. She was getting changed. If you don't like it then you don't have to look.

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 19:31

Lemons but she wasn't getting changed - that's my whole point! She stood there a full 5 minutes naked not getting changed or putting any attempt into getting anything out of her locker!

Oh for heavens sake. I am 70 and this would not have been a problem since 1950.

Hairhorror1 · 03/07/2017 19:34

I can't get wound up about it. If she was parading round the pool or sat having lunch with it all out I might agree, but to ne naked in a changing room is no big deal imo

titsbumfannythelot · 03/07/2017 19:35

Pet hate of mine is when someone naked apart from head towel and flip flops puts a leg up on bench and bends over to moisturise Envy

Onesunnydayiniceland · 03/07/2017 19:38

What's the big deal? It's just breasts and genitals, like any other female mammal!

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 19:40

In what other situation would this be ok though?
As I say - no issue with people getting changed - don't even have to be discreet, but why stand and have a chat and dick about completely naked? There's just no need!

MiladyThesaurus · 03/07/2017 19:41

redladybird that pretty offensive. Is it ok if their genitals fit the approved for photography version promoted by the porn industry?

ssd · 03/07/2017 19:42

god I so totally agree op

I dont want to stare at my naked body in all its glory, I sure dont want yours in my face either Grin

caffeinequick · 03/07/2017 19:44

I don't see a problem with being naked in a changing room. I think it's good that people are comfortable in their skin. Saying that I get my knickers and bra on sharpish :)

YABU. I have no problems with naked bodies (of the same sex) in the changing room.
Feeling uncomfortable is your issue, not theirs.

Violetcharlotte · 03/07/2017 19:46

I think it's a shame we're all so embarrassed by the human body!

It's the one thing we all have in common, yet we feel the need to cover up.

I kind of wish we could all feel as confident as this lady in a women only environment (I'm not!) it must be really liberating to not be embarrassed about your body.

ThymeLord · 03/07/2017 19:47

How about don't look so closely redladybird. What a vile thing to say.

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 19:47

Itsallgoingtobefine - would you say that if it was on the beach? People still get changed there. Fine. No need to stay undressed for prolonged periods of time!

Haggisfish · 03/07/2017 19:47

Personally I think yabu. Why did it bother you exactly? I think we are far too hung up in this country.

Oysterbabe · 03/07/2017 19:48

Yabu. She's not ashamed of her body and doesn't feel the need to cover it up quick. Good for her!

16middlenames · 03/07/2017 19:49

YANBU - it's called modesty, and like you say she wasn't changing so the amount of time spent naked (essentially in public) was excessive and unusual.

arethereanyleftatall · 03/07/2017 19:51

I do this without a second thought. I hadn't realised people got upset about it.

Foniks · 03/07/2017 19:51

It's so gross when they go and sit their bare ass on a bench too

Rumtopf · 03/07/2017 19:52

I think yabu.
It was a changing room, not the beach (although I don't actually have a problem with a nudist beach or women being topless on a regular beach), all you had to say was "excuse me, could I have a little more space please" and she'd have moved along or moved somewhere else.

We're all women, regardless of how fat/thin/hairy/stretchmarked etc. Your issues are your own and I think it's quite unreasonable to expect her to have the same issues as you and to hide away under a towel as if she should be ashamed.

Baalam · 03/07/2017 19:52

I never give it a second thought. I wish I could be so happy in my own skin. Sounds like you aren't either OP
