To be horrified by people in changing rooms?

I went on a lovely spa day today with a friend as my first day away from my 6 month old dd.
While getting changed for lunch a woman came out of the showers and stood around for about 5 minutes having a chat/getting in my way - right next to me completely starkers! I was getting changed under a towel and my locker was there and the bench the other side of me so I couldn't move without being really awkward as I was obviously using that space.
I wouldn't mind her just getting changed but she didn't, she had a towel round her head and her full bush and boobs out, she wasn't even facing the lockers, it was like she was just parading in my face.
I've no issue with nakedness in changing rooms while getting changed but don't just stand around naked making me feel awkward!
Aibu?

I wouldn't like it but I recognise that as being my problem, not that of the other woman.

It's a changing room where you wish reasonably expect nudity. Trying to compare it to a beach or whatever is ridiculous.

MusicForTheJiltedGeneration · 03/07/2017 21:49

For the love of baby Jebus OP if this ever happens to you again JUST ASK HER POLITELY TO MOVE.

Unless her flaps are actually in your mouth you still have the power of speech Hmm

Groupie123 · 03/07/2017 21:50

It's your problem not the woman's. I bet you're also the type who'd rather risk a haemmoroid than take a shit in a public loo.

HoldOnHoldOn · 03/07/2017 21:51

After giving birth 3 times I have no dignity left and really don't care anymore who sees me naked!Grin

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 21:55

On the contrary I quite enjoy a public shit - and non of this VIPOO nonsense! Grin

woodhill · 03/07/2017 21:58

Hate it too. Don't feel comfortable. I'm a prude.

Flyinggeese · 03/07/2017 21:59

Music that really made me laugh!

Blossomdeary · 03/07/2017 22:01

There is no problem - it is a changing room; people take their clothes off. Why should they feel they have to do this discreetly or speedily? I can see no reason at all why they should do this. What is wrong with labia?

Scandelicious · 03/07/2017 22:02

Don't ever go to a Scandinavian swimming pool, op. You'd be aghast!

LovePeaceAndHarmony · 03/07/2017 22:03

YANBU it would have made me feel very uncomfortable.

RiversrunWoodville · 03/07/2017 22:04

I haven't rtft so apologies if it's moved on! I really wish I was comfortable enough to do this but I'm really not and im really impressed by people who are

sidesplittinglol · 03/07/2017 22:05

I'm with you on this OP. I prefer privacy as well as modesty myself.

rubybleu · 03/07/2017 22:09

YANBU. I don't think people need to change under a towel (as we did in high school!) but for the love of God don't hang around unnecessarily naked. Moisturise yourself, do whatever you need to do, but at least put some underwear on afterwards.

I belong to quite a nice gym in the City with separate hair-and-makeup areas. For some reason, some women seem to need to spend 20 minutes butt naked drying their hair and applying makeup. You end up with someone's boobs 30cm from your face as they twist their arms overhead to blow dry their hair!

LanaDReye · 03/07/2017 22:09

Younger me would have said yanbu, now I think you need to think why this bothers you.

I care less about physical exposure the older slightly more worn out I get. I see it as a good thing as more important priorities get my attention. She didn't expect you to be naked or not be naked she probably couldn't have cared less .

Why are you getting changed under a fucking towel? That is what I find utterly ridiculous. Why not just get dressed?

Scrumptiousbears · 03/07/2017 22:13

Oh we have the naked ladies in the gym changing room too. Yes. One leg up on the bench whilst drying their hair and airing their mini at the same time.

rubybleu · 03/07/2017 22:14

Oh god, I've just remembered my grimmest gym story. The woman beside me removed and changed a tampon - naked of course.

I'm sure someone will come along shortly to tell me I'm a represssed prude.

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 22:14

Because I don't like strangers seeing me naked. Is that such an issue? I have no issue with other people being naked/ changing under a towel. But as I've said many times I just don't understand why she had to stand there totally naked blocking me into a corner.

Unless she licked it clean, then yes, I'm afraid you are just a Victorian prude.

And so am I thank fuck.

workingtowards · 03/07/2017 22:19

YANBU. I was sitting down in the changing room of our local 'posh' spa and had a lady completely starkers within a foot of me bending over to put her sandals on. It was like an episode of James Herriot. Completely put me off my fish supper. And how, I ask, was she going to get her knickers on over her sandals?

Knickers first, please ladies, shoes last. Grin

fabulous01 · 03/07/2017 22:23

I agree with op.
I don't give a hoot if people say I am a prude. Get a ruddy towel or get in a room

Tardigrade001 · 03/07/2017 22:27

Being naked in a changing room is completely normal! She probably didn't notice she was too close, asking her politely to move would have solved the problem quite easily.

Do people really think you're supposed to hide your body while changing in a single sex changing room? Surely the whole point of a designated changing room is that you can comfortably dress and undress (and even stand and chat for 5 min) without having to worry about anyone watching you?

Greycat11 · 03/07/2017 22:28

Love The Good Old Days reference lol.
And no YANBU I would have been uncomfortable too.

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/07/2017 22:30

I'm with you Op.
It's a changing room not a stay naked room.

I'm not a prude, I have no problem with nakedness at home, we are very relaxed actually , I just don't want or need to see stranger's naked bodies or them to see mine. I don't know you, why would I be comfortable being naked in front of you. Some things are just better kept private.
