To be horrified by people in changing rooms?

I went on a lovely spa day today with a friend as my first day away from my 6 month old dd.
While getting changed for lunch a woman came out of the showers and stood around for about 5 minutes having a chat/getting in my way - right next to me completely starkers! I was getting changed under a towel and my locker was there and the bench the other side of me so I couldn't move without being really awkward as I was obviously using that space.
I wouldn't mind her just getting changed but she didn't, she had a towel round her head and her full bush and boobs out, she wasn't even facing the lockers, it was like she was just parading in my face.
I've no issue with nakedness in changing rooms while getting changed but don't just stand around naked making me feel awkward!
Aibu?

The OP is not the only one with a choice nina2b

SleightOfHand · 03/07/2017 21:06

I thought the "lips" comment was funny, soz. I say that as someone that is definitely not neat, tidy or tucked in.

Flyinggeese · 03/07/2017 21:08

I wish I could say I'd be 100% OK with it, but I'm not! Why would one rub lotion into your naked body in a confined public space? Aarrghhhh!

neveradullmoment99 · 03/07/2017 21:10

I agree. A bit of modesty ffs. I do now wish to watch someone stark bollock naked parading around. Have people no bloody shame.

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 21:13

The thing is - if she was rubbing lotion in I'd be fine! There is a reason for the nakedness (personally I'd still put underwear on but each to their own), it's just she wasn't! She was just stood having a chat to her mate who was on the other side of the changing room doing her makeup. The fact I was in a towel is my own thing. I don't like to be naked around other strangers but it's not the nakedness per se it's the nakedness in close proximity for no reason for a prolonged period of time with no awareness of other people and the space invading nature of it.

You just needed to ask her to budge up. Or explain that you need to leave.

NikiBabe · 03/07/2017 21:17

Perhaps she likes to air dry.

Sushi123 · 03/07/2017 21:20

Yanbu OP...I'm not a prude at all but I just think this sort of behaviour is totally unnecessary

YANBU, it's so look at me.

Yes it is. So tedious.

userofthiswebsite · 03/07/2017 21:25

I completely understand why OP felt uncomfortable. No way in hell I'd wander around naked in front of a group of strangers, irrespective of the fact that it's called a changing room.
Even if I was a size 6 I still wouldn't do it. In fact, I wouldn't even want to stand around in bra/knickers either.
So glad I don't have to use the gym changing room as I live so close by.

MusicForTheJiltedGeneration · 03/07/2017 21:27

The Full Bush And Boobs would be an amazing pub name

For some reason that brought back happy memories of watching The Good Old Days with my Nan

I can hear it now .....

"Come, come, come and make eyes at me
down at the Full Bush and Boobs,
Da, da, da, da, da"

carjacker1985 · 03/07/2017 21:32

Sounds like her being close only bothered you because she was naked- I don't think she pinned you in on purpose, she was probably just stood there. If you'd moved away I doubt she'd have thought twice about it. You sound a bit uptight.

TearsOnTheGround · 03/07/2017 21:33

Yanbu it is definitely very "look at me."

Yes the female body is very natural but so is having a shit and I don't need to see either thanks 👍

ForalltheSaints · 03/07/2017 21:34

Not wanting someone stood next to you naked whilst talking to someone else is a perfectly acceptable preference, though the thought I have is that it would only offend in the UK or US.

I don't think that commenting on a person's genital area and preference for hair or not is acceptable, and I think that sitting down naked without a towel underneath is unhygenic.

ShesAStar · 03/07/2017 21:37

But she was in a changing room, not streaking across a rugby pitch!! Hardly 'look at me'.

I couldn't care less about naked bodies in a changing room! I didn't know anyone else did either. Maybe it's my Dutch blood.

WanderingTrolley1 · 03/07/2017 21:39

Yanbu.

Be naked, fine, but nakedly encroaching on someone's personal space, not on.

Do they have unisex changing rooms in Holland?

ShesAStar · 03/07/2017 21:40

How close can she have been?

ShesAStar · 03/07/2017 21:43

VeryButch - I believe some spas do. The toilets in Somerset House in London are unisex also!

Smarshian · 03/07/2017 21:44

She was about a foot away. For those who asked she was about 30 - not that I think that's relevant

Reminds me of that Micheal McIntyre show where he says about the man in the changing room naked who puts his shirt, tie and jacket on and still has his penis flopping about 😂 Then starts talking to someone with it flapping about 😁 Meanwhile Micheal would rather be Mr 2 pairs of pants then mr no pants! 😬😂

nuttyknitter · 03/07/2017 21:45

Naked in a changing room is fine ..... if you're actually getting changed. I remember being particularly put off by someone spending ages drying their hair with a hairdryer, using straighteners, applying make up all starkers. Just why?!

violetgreeneyes · 03/07/2017 21:46

I hate this too but it's par for the course in spa and gym changing rooms.

I always use the one cubicle in my gym as I don't want folk to see me and avert eyes at everyone letting it all hang out!

Carouselfish · 03/07/2017 21:47

Wait, wasn't the 'lips' comment a jokey reference to the other 'trending' thread about people have labiaplasty?

Carouselfish · 03/07/2017 21:47

Or if not jokey then an intentional grenade.
