To be horrified by people in changing rooms?

I went on a lovely spa day today with a friend as my first day away from my 6 month old dd.
While getting changed for lunch a woman came out of the showers and stood around for about 5 minutes having a chat/getting in my way - right next to me completely starkers! I was getting changed under a towel and my locker was there and the bench the other side of me so I couldn't move without being really awkward as I was obviously using that space.
I wouldn't mind her just getting changed but she didn't, she had a towel round her head and her full bush and boobs out, she wasn't even facing the lockers, it was like she was just parading in my face.
I've no issue with nakedness in changing rooms while getting changed but don't just stand around naked making me feel awkward!
Aibu?

YABU. You have some strange issues with the human body. Have you considered speaking to a professional? Your head must be a strange place to be so outraged by another woman's body. How biazarre!

Sparklingbrook · 03/07/2017 19:54

YANBU. This is why i avoid changing rooms of all kinds.

I wish I was as confident as she is!
I always get changed under a towel, & I wish I didn't have too and let it all hang loose!

TheLittleShirt · 03/07/2017 19:55

"Stand around, have a chat and dick about.".
I am not surprised you were upset if she had a dick!
But seriously why are you making it a problem? Go girl.

viques · 03/07/2017 19:55

It was a spa. Not a swimming pool, a spa, where people do tend to relax their towel clutching proclivities. Heck, when I went to the Gelert spa in Budapest I removed my "modesty apron" within seconds in the mineral pool (no cossies allowed but modesty aprons(!) available. ) And in saunas in Germany and Norway you are though pretty grubby if you sit there in your swimmy .

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/07/2017 19:57

Just because you were trying to dress under a towel doesn't mean everyone else should be trying to hide themselves.

Good for her

NotInMyBackYard1 · 03/07/2017 19:58

Nope, it is you that has the problem. If you don't like it, don't look. I like being naked.

Grin at 'parading it in my face'. Yep, that's what she was doing. Waltzing around in the buff just to bother you.

You sound repressed.

SheepyFun · 03/07/2017 20:01

All I can say is don't visit Iceland - you are required to shower naked before swimming there, and there are attendants ensuring you wash the relevant bits properly. Changing rooms are communal, though sex segregated.

I was there as a student, and it was eye opening - I'd never seen that range of women's bodies; everyone swims there, so there was every body shape and age on display. I actually think it's really healthy - children will grow up seeing a good range of body types, not just 'ideal' ones.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 03/07/2017 20:01

Wouldn't bother me...it's just a naked body.

RebelRogue · 03/07/2017 20:02

I don't like communal changing rooms. I'm also uncomfortable with being naked in front of strangers. As a results I avoid them,or if I can't get changed as quickly as possible/under a towel. It's my issue and i have no problem with other women being comfortably naked,if anything I envy them a little bit.

I don't like nudity (because of how I was brought up) but know I have to get over myself when I'm in a public changing room. Honestly, the problem is yours to manage, not their's for using the room for its intended purpose.

and I'm not repressed, I'm normal, thanks very much

elQuintoConyo · 03/07/2017 20:05

FULL BUSH

Even the Victorians weren't so bloody prudish.

Foniks · 03/07/2017 20:05

bluntness why would a woman not post it? It's no different to when some women laugh at another woman's saggy breasts or saggy skin in general, or any other body issues you can think of really.
I get its offensive, especially as lots of women on here are parents and I've read many on here say they just looked different after a vaginal birth (and even without birthing a child, we all look different anyway!) but it's definitely not something only teenage boys would be saying.

Madbum · 03/07/2017 20:05

I'm sure she didn't mean to greet you beaver first.

LucieLucie · 03/07/2017 20:06

Am I reading something entirely different to everyone else!??

The op was boxed in pardon the pun by an apparently socially inept naked woman in public change area at a spa.

The fact she was naked or bushy was not the issue, it appears hers standing facing into op for too long whilst she was trapped in her corner desperately trying to protect her modesty under a towel was actually the issue.

Move away naked spa lady, be naked over there fgs!! wouldn't want to see your bush in my face either.

Baalam · 03/07/2017 20:08

Talking about saggy vaginal lips is a new thing. It's pathetic. As soon as women start getting their shit together, then they find a new stick to beat us with. And Fwiw I've had three vaginal births and my beaver is amazing.

TizzyDongue · 03/07/2017 20:08

Think I'd be more shocked at her lack of self consciousness to be honest. Probably feel jealous of it. I don't have body confidence

I've done hot spas naked though (years ago when my figure was more 'acceptable'). I was mad self concious at first but got into the grove quite quickly - maybe because I failed to check out other people's lips ...
