AIBU? Disinvited from friend's wedding

My friend moved to London a couple of years ago and is having a fab wedding in the Dorchester. We never go out / holidays since having kids so booked a room and a nanny (she said no kids) from the hotel as a rare treat.
I was so excited, booked hairdresser, new dress, and she then said kids can come too, they were looking forward to the party. She's just phoned me and bumped us from the wedding to make room for grooms extended family........ I feel a fool, had booked the hotel etc months ago.

That's terribly disappointing and extremely rude of her.

I can't even imagine how that would happen.

I would be furious.

Assume you got an actual invite, rather than just her telling you it was at the Dorchester / seeing the date on FB etc? If so, that's bloody rude.

Reply with "What a shame. Still, your fiancé's distant family can pay us to take over the hotel room so at least we won't be ££££ out of pocket. I know you wouldn't want that!"

As atticuscactus said, go out and have fun! Bet it's loads better than her boring wedding!

I'd just say you've booked it all now so you'll be in the hotel if not at the wedding itself. Then have a fabulous weekend without her!

I'm gobsmacked at how rude she is. I honestly wouldn't talk to her after this. Yes to keeping the hotel and having a lovely time. But how awkward if you bump into guests while you are there...

Failing that I'd ask her to get the inlaws to pay for your room and you have a fabulous weekend somewhere where your money goes a lot further.

Be prepared for her to contact you again and re-invite you once she's fiddled about with her numbers. She sounds inconsistent, she's already done it over the kids.
Whether you choose to do it now, or post wedding, you owe it to yourself to tell her how hurt you were and thought you meant more.

How fucking rude! No, that's beyond fucking rude into the realms of really really unacceptably fucking rude. I've heard of B lists and C lists fir weddings but this is the first time I've heard if invited guests being bumped to make room for other guests.
Do not cancel your weekend or the nanny service. Go and be pampered at the Dorchester and if you run into this fucking rudest of rude bridezillas while you're there feel free to tell her that her dress is fucking horrible... Actually, don't do that, but do feel free to blank the rude bitch.
