Trump just praised his meeting with Russian officials—the meeting in which he reportedly revealed classified information.

So let me get this right.

Trump does something illegal / controversial in White House.
He's more concerned with the fact that people have found out rather than what he did.

Hmm

You'll all no doubt recall the very recent remarks over the West Wall - as reported in the Israeli press.

If that's true at least Spicey had a poignant, perfectly timed send-off from SNL. It was quite sad.

NannyOggsKnickers · 16/05/2017 19:15

I'm loving this thread. Thanks for keeping me up to date with Trumpaggedon.

I've been thinking about why the Republicans aren't trying more publicly to oust 45. The issue is that his hard core of supporters are fanatical. If he is removed now then Breitbart can spin it so that it looks like the GOP are the bad guys and that democracy has been perverted. Trump ran on an anti-politics platform. He stoked peoples fears that their government was against them. Which was really fucking stupid and dangerous.

He's going to have to be taken down in a very careful, very public way. A way which alienates his most of his fandom. I'm hoping the powers that be in the GOP are quietly working on a way to bring all of his lies and misdemeanours to light. Because he isn't about 'America First'. He's about Trump first.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2017 19:17

Spicey will likely be 'realigned' rather than fired. (Like Kellyanne.) 45 can't afford to be seen to sack someone so pivotal right now, I reckon.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 16/05/2017 19:19

I'm just pondering the level of anticipatory hyperbole required in the new thread header to tide us over for the next few days 'til the next one. It's really frigging hard to get it right now given we've surpassed any semblance of reality.

White House reaction cycle
1 - It never happened
2 - POTUS tweet
3 - It happened; NBD
4 - Nobody cares but you
5 - No more questions on this

That's about it.

Maggie Haberman @maggieNYT
Chain-reaction chaos has been a hallmark for Trump for a long time. Recall the November '15 series of events that culminated in his 1/

2/ use of an old @sergenyt clip and his mocking of Serge. It began with NYT A1 on Trump not explicitly ruling out a Muslim registry. From...

3/...there he doubled down, maintained he'd seen "thousands" of Muslims cheering in NJ on 9/11. When called on that, he doubled down ...

4/ ...and reached for @sergenyt clip to back his position up. Ended with mocking @sergenyt and getting roundly criticized. Then he stopped.

5/ ... It was similar w the Judge Curiel criticism. Double down, boot-strapping one explosion onto the next.

I know that noting that he lost the popular vote by 3 million and won with about 80k votes scattered over 3 states is never seen as impt.
