AIBU to say only psychopaths support fox hunting

the kind who would laugh at and enjoy watching kittens being set on fire (animal cruelty especially early in lifeis a marker for psychopathic tendencies)

Because it's just the same as that. Animal cruelty plain and simple.

Imagine a group of thugs chasing a terrified animal to give it a horrible death

Now imagine they are posh people on horseback

Theresa May makes me angrier every day. Disgusting excuse of a person.

I don't give a shit if you live in the country or anywhere in fact and foxes are a nuisance to you - kill them humanely if you must!

Flyingelbows probably thinks that anyone even vaguely opposed to fox hunting is a Sab and therefore "lefty scum". Not at all. I can see the appeal of going for a nice cross-country gallop. But I cannot abide cruelty to animals. And a fox being pursued for miles by a pack of hounds, then torn to pieces is abject cruelty. There is simply no excusing it.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 10/05/2017 16:52

Where I live the cunts still let their dogs shred the foxes to bits - absolutely fucking horrific to watch.

People who hunt are the lowest of the low - I'd love to hunt them down and have them torn limb from limb, apparently this is murder tho!

There is a humane way to kill animals and this is not it.

Bastards.

Rant over!

Floweringjasmine · 10/05/2017 16:52

There are also hunts that raid the dens and raise the cubs for hunting, not sure how that helps with population control either.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 10/05/2017 16:53

You see, I'm anti fox hunting, but as soon as I hear the 'toffs on horseback' blah blah blah rhetoric it makes me want to become pro hunting! Like I say I disagree with hunting fox .... but, The 'antis' really do get right in my tits!

LadyPW · 10/05/2017 16:53

Honestly, banning fox hunting won't lead to more happy foxes. They'll just be gunned down.
But better surely to die quickly from a shot (assuming it's accurate) than to have to run for your life and then be ripped apart while you're still alive? I know which death I'd rather face.
If the hunters want fun then do a drag hunt where they're following a fake scent. Same pursuit, no cruelty. But they're a blood-thirsty lot.
I've lost a lot of respect for Theresa May on this one. Really bad decision.

Blowingthroughthejasmineinmymi · 10/05/2017 16:53

Agree its really horrid, and no need for it - lots of other ways to hunt without killing an animal.

However I shudder at the memory of the sheer time and resources taken up by the Blair Government on this issue, all the while humans were suffering with all kinds of issues, adults in social care, hospitals failing, schools failing etc. That to me was the real crime.

Why in the world this argument keeps coming up? You don't go and kill just because you think others are killing too.

Because people seem to be unable to see what hypocrites they are. So bothered by the death of a cute fluffy fox but will happily buy factory farmed food- Far more than needed.

I know a very vocal, anti-hunt, anti-tory man who goes on about the cruelty of hunting but competes in competitive eating competitions where he eats about 80 chicken wings in one go.

Yanbu.

HashiAsLarry · 10/05/2017 16:54

I grew up in the countryside. Yet the only people, and I include family members here, I have met who agree with fox hunting are also those who are happy to dehumanise certain groups of people too.

If foxes are a that much of a problem why not deal with it humanely? Because its nothing to do with pest control.

VerySadInside · 10/05/2017 16:55

How are you guarantying a kill shot? No farmer is going to go traipsing after a fox through woodland if it's only injured. It could take days to die from starvation or infection.

Fruitcocktail6 · 10/05/2017 16:56

GoodGirlGoneWrong I'll join you! Particularly big game hunters. I would gladly go down if I could take a few of those out first.

ShoesHaveSouls · 10/05/2017 16:57

I think all hunters are psychopaths - I include fox & stag hunters, people who shoot birds, Walter Palmer, whichever Trump was pictured with a dead elephant and anyone else who does it. Completely unnecessary to cause such suffering in the name of sport.

I know there's a firm group of pro-hunting fuckers on MN though - I've read through their bleatings to justify the killing of animals for blood sport before.

BrigitteTrogneux64 · 10/05/2017 16:58

Yanbu

Of course... But a hunter with a hunting rifle will definiely kill more foxes in one night than "posh people on horses" in a day...

Guepe · 10/05/2017 16:58

YANBU. It is absolutely disgusting.

MissBax · 10/05/2017 16:58

YANBU!!!

user1487175389 · 10/05/2017 16:59

I think it would be slightly different if the intention was to eat the fox, or even for the dogs to eat it, if that's their instinct. But tearing an innocent animal to shreds just for pure blood last - That's different. And I speak as a recently converted vegan who would ideally also like to see an end to the killing and exploitation of all animals for food or any other reason, where nutritious alternatives are affordable and widely available.

Floweringjasmine · 10/05/2017 17:00

VerySadInside , I can be against lots of issues and support others. It's not one or the other for me.

I don't eat meat very much at all, if I do it's local free range. I give a substantial amount of money to our local wildlife hospital through our business and I also care about and campaign for human issues.

I don't have to justify that though.

And anyhow, I'm not even pro-fox hunting, I just don't particularly care. Factory farming methods are definitely worse.

And yet many people against hunting still buy the cheapest chicken. Or even worse, don't care about issues like human trafficking, child brides, genital mutiliation, gay rights etc...

I understand that some people care about animal welfare... But if you compare the few foxes killed by a hunt to the countless animals in factory farms? Complaining about hunting just seems very precious to me personally.

randomer · 10/05/2017 17:04

ghastly woman. i'd like to chase her around a forest and make her suffer

User86884678 · 10/05/2017 17:06

I support hunting but I want the ban kept. It's too emotive a subject and I actually think the current law works well if adhered to. The pack locate the fox and it's then dispatched in a more humane way.

I think hunts need to be more forward thinking and work with the law, not against it to ensure the future of hunting.

Large companies also use dogs to control rats but people seem to be far less concerned with that.

[hides from flames]

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 10/05/2017 17:07

are you a vegan OP?

I would rather be a Fox that a factory farmed Cow, Pig or veal

their life is way WAY better, and their death parallel.

I don't like it, but I am way more concerned around factory farming from an ethics and sustainability perspective, yet people are strangely silent on this topic.

Its so fucking hypocritical.

GinIsIn · 10/05/2017 17:08

I'm just going to point out that foxes don't kill merely to eat. They are one of the few species that kill for pleasure. A fox in a henhouse won't just kill the one it needs for food, it will kill them all for shits and giggles.
