AIBU to say only psychopaths support fox hunting

the kind who would laugh at and enjoy watching kittens being set on fire (animal cruelty especially early in lifeis a marker for psychopathic tendencies)

Because it's just the same as that. Animal cruelty plain and simple.

Imagine a group of thugs chasing a terrified animal to give it a horrible death

Now imagine they are posh people on horseback

VILE

Theresa May makes me angrier every day. Disgusting excuse of a person.

I don't give a shit if you live in the country or anywhere in fact and foxes are a nuisance to you - kill them humanely if you must!

OP posts:
SumThucker · 10/05/2017 16:15

The oft-used word 'vile' sums them up perfectly Angry

No, there is zero difference. It's your view on on it. Factory farms and abattoirs are equally stressful, if not more. The fox will have experienced freedom. Livestock destined for your dinner plate will only ever know fear and death.

isupposeitsverynice · 10/05/2017 16:17

We've lost loads of chickens to foxes, it's heart breaking. But I think it's a pretty quick and clean death compared to being hunted by dogs. I think I'd sooner be the chicken.

Valentine2 · 10/05/2017 16:20

Honestly it's the dead giveaway that you know fuck all about hunting and horse people beyond the fluffy factor.

Could you then enlighten us all about the philosophy and the inner peace you get from hunting a scared fox while you are on your horse following it with a pack of hounds? I surely must have been so common to not have understood it in the first place.

HildaOg · 10/05/2017 16:22

You can say the same about people who eat meat from factory farms. Or people who eat meat at all. Killing is killing, meat production is worse because we're purposely breeding animals to be held in life imprisonment before being slaughtered. Far crueller.

RoseGoldProsecco · 10/05/2017 16:22

The unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible Sad

Valentine2 · 10/05/2017 16:24

HildaOg
So instead of trying to bring THAT into mainstream discussion, you are using this to justify her decision?

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 10/05/2017 16:24

I really hate the misuse of psychiatric terms to demonise people on the opposite side of an argument. So yes, YABU to say "only psychopaths support fox hunting".

YANBU at all to dislike fox hunting intensely and want to retain the ban.

DearMrDilkington · 10/05/2017 16:25

anyone want to sign?

alltouchedout · 10/05/2017 16:26

Yanbu.
If it is genuinely necessary to reduce the fix population (and I have no idea whether it is), there are far, far less cruel ways of doing it. I wouldn't go so far as to say supporters of fox hunting are psychopaths, but I would judge them very, very negatively indeed. It's a horrible pastime.

alltouchedout · 10/05/2017 16:27

*fox, not fix. Obviously!

KimKardashiansArse · 10/05/2017 16:27

YANBU!!! GinGinGinCakeWineFlowers for mentioning this.

Presumably you've all heard that Teresa May wants to bring back fox hunting:

WhooooAmI24601 · 10/05/2017 16:27

YANBU to declare that anyone supporting or partaking in fox hunting is a fucking lunatic. It's revolting, and I grew up in the countryside with ducks, chickens, geese and horses so am no namby-pamby city person. It's not a sport. Sport involves skill, hard work and effort. Hunting involves being a bit of a twat, frankly, and not much else.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 10/05/2017 16:27

I'm with Bumkin. I eat meat but I'm fully aware that if I really cared about animal welfare I'd be a vegan. Given a choice between being reared for meat and slaughtered or living free with the chance of being ripped apart instantly by hounds, I'd far rather be a fox. If fox hunters are psychopaths, what does that make people who eat farmed meat all the time?

KimKardashiansArse · 10/05/2017 16:28

valentine 😂

PickAChew · 10/05/2017 16:29

I presume you support fox hunting, then, FlyingElbows

Do please educate us townie plebs. We're all ears and dying to know why hoards of people, horses and dogs chasing a fox around is preferable to just quietly shooting the bugger.

Nowwhatsthis · 10/05/2017 16:29

Can someone please explain to me (an immigrant who wasn't around at the time of the original ban) why so many British people are so passionate about fox hunting? Surely only a very small proportion of people were actually hunting and this was a minor sport?

Is it because this type of killing is far crueller than other types of killing (i.e. factory farming as a PP mentioned)? Is it because foxes are cute? Is it because the general public dislike posh people and their hobbies?

Obsidian77 · 10/05/2017 16:31

How would you propose to kill them humanely op?

Redpony1 · 10/05/2017 16:31

I'm still a Tory supporter through & through, not sure what all the fuss is about, it won't get through parliament anyway.

And:
A fox has to eat
Would all be good if when a fox breaks in to a chicken hutch, they ate them instead of killing them all, ripping them up then leaving without eating anything.

Oh, and i DO NOT hunt, but i get the hatred of foxes.

YouTheCat · 10/05/2017 16:32

Why don't we leave the foxes alone and hunt Tories instead?

KimKardashiansArse · 10/05/2017 16:32

I love it when they make it a town/city vs. the country thing too like with the "Countryside" Alliance. I grew up in the countryside and most of the people I knew were against hunting. Please don't make out that everyone who lives in the countryside supports bloodsports.

Fruitcocktail6 · 10/05/2017 16:34

I'm not sure if you're trying to say that all hunters are psychopaths?

Yes, I believe you must have something mentally wrong with you to hunt. Along with some kind of sick blood-lust.

NoLotteryWinYet · 10/05/2017 16:34

i was sad to see this too - it's a free vote so hopefully it won't pass. I'm usually a big supporter of tradition, but not nasty traditions. Same with bullfighting.
