I get what your saying TSS. But many, many dictators were democratically elected. Hitler won an election fair and square. Being elected does not make him any less dangerous or mean we should be any less critical. In fact it make some even more worried to be honest.

I do agree with you that there is a problem with the whole system that has lead to this happening. Trump didn't appear from nowhere. He is a creation of the political and popular narritives that have been used for years and have become increasingly popular.

We need to fight the whole ideology that had birthed and supported Trump. Just focusing on him will not solve the problem as if we get just get rid of him without changing the conversation another right-wing, racist, misogynistic arsehole will just take his place.

amispartacus · 21/01/2017 17:54

Trump has tweeted that he's President of the USA. Because no one's realised..

squishysquirmy · 21/01/2017 17:55

That worries me too BigBadgers. He may reduce immigration somewhat, but a lot of immigrants will remain - with vastly reduced rights, living in fear of being reported, and ripe for exploitation.

BigBadgers · 21/01/2017 17:55

happy it is a FACT that ISIS is well known for their fearsome sea attacks. Anyone saying they are a land based terrorist force are telling Fake News and just haven't seen all the really secret, beautiful reports I have just read!! LIES!!!

HateSummer · 21/01/2017 17:57

Thank you for this beautiful thread. I can tell it's gonna be yuge. Yuge thread. 😆

Just going back to dubya on the last thread,he's got pretty good hand eye coordination painting to have dementia. But if he does, that's really sad. I wouldn't wish dementia on anyone it's horrible. He started a lot of shit in the Middle East thousands died because of him, it must eat at his conscious somehow.

paxillin · 21/01/2017 17:57

I still have that WTF jolt every time anyone on tv says "President Trump".

originalmavis · 21/01/2017 17:59

Hrveill still be 'old trumpy' to me. 'president fart' at a push.

LapinR0se · 21/01/2017 18:00

If central casting chose thread participants, they'd choose you all. Look how beautiful this thread is. This thread is making mumsnet great again.

AcrossthePond55 · 21/01/2017 18:00

Checking in briefly. Leaving for the Rally in about 1/2 hour. It does feel good to be doing something.

Lweji · 21/01/2017 18:01

I hear you TSS

I think this is part of a natural cycle. People become disenchanted with the usual politics and shake it up. Then find out that it's more of the same or worse.
And it's also natural for backlashes when things move in one direction.
It's healthy that things are shaken up occasionally. The problem is when they shake up too much.

I view these protests as saying to Trump (and Republicans) that he can't just do what he pleases, that his support base is not that big.

And as I said earlier, maybe a positive force will emerge out of this. Politics had become too much of the same. I wonder if a strong Democratic leader will emerge for 2020.

HappyFlappy · 21/01/2017 18:09

Twitter should be urged to change its name in honour of the beautiful President. To Tooter.

I thought you were going to suggest "Twatter" Chew Grin

BigBadgers · 21/01/2017 18:14

You are right lweji, because you are elegant and beautiful and just so smart, it does feel like there is a need for change across the west. I just hope when the birthing pains are over we end up with the right sort of change. It would be great to see a really radical opposition appear on both sides of the pond.

HappyFlappy · 21/01/2017 18:15

It is YOU who are lying, Badgers. I've seen the reports - and they are BEAUTIFUL!

The ISIS Armada is heading for the coast of MIAMI as we speak, but Melania will be there in her prettiest dress (Isn't she beautiful, people? - because of course, all those Disney cartoons can't be wrong. If Walt says that all beautiful people are good and all ugly ones are bad, that's good enough for me!) - in her prettiest dress, as we said, and she will just dazzle them. Long enough for us to build a wall.

Lweji · 21/01/2017 18:25

I just hope when the birthing pains are over

Just as long as the birth was not outside Europe or the US. Wink

LIES! All LIES!! Trump's greatest moment is yet to come when he defeats Islamic terrorism via a surprise naval attack.

By the way this is a very classy thread. FACT!!!

Lweji · 21/01/2017 18:40

Trump's greatest moment is yet to come when he defeats Islamic terrorism via a surprise naval attack.

Yes, with the new shiny gold submarines.

Or maybe he'll use diggers. I'm thinking these:

They'll go well with trying to convince people they are in a fantastic new Trump world when it's really all gone to shit.

Zion rises.

All things reality with Trump, maybe not so beautiful now!
JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 21/01/2017 18:46

Yes the terrorists will definitely not see that coming. It might just work.

BestIsWest · 21/01/2017 18:55

Is this a FAKE thread?

SanFranBear · 21/01/2017 18:57

I also agree with you TSSDNCOP - and I am personally so so hopeful that as thjbgs develop, UK voters have their eyes opened so come 2020 when our next election falls, voters are less disillusioned and UK centric and we don't end up with Trump II, the British Years.

Lweji · 21/01/2017 19:10

Well worth watching the

I'm sure she'll be voted in, though.

Spudlet · 21/01/2017 19:29

President Short Fingered Vulgarian. It's his official title, you know.

Really, really regretting not joining the march in London today. Sad. (No, really I am).

Spudlet · 21/01/2017 19:34

I know he already has a secret service code name, but shall we try and think of a good alternative...?

I'll start - Gallicus. After Circaetus gallicus - the Short-Toed Snake Eagle en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-toed_snake_eagle
Grin

woman12345 · 21/01/2017 19:34

There was a funny long placard on the London march saying "This is not fake" !
Seriously, after yesterday, it's so important to remind yourself how nice people are and that the fresh air is good, and that you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of them all of the time.
It's nice to be with those people. Nourishing after all that bile yesterday.
Roussette it was inspiring, and good for kids to see their mums doing something about that egit.

MycatsaPirate · 21/01/2017 19:41

Is it true that if someone tries to assassinate the Donald that his security people shout 'Donald! Duck!'

bialystockandbloom · 21/01/2017 20:30

mycat I do hope so Grin
