AIBU?

AIBU to think it's silly that DS can't wear these to nursery?

DS had some leggings on today - they're gorgeous! They have monsters on (not scary) but apparently he isn't allowed to wear them? They don't have a uniform, but apparently a Mum said that they scared her daughter Confused WTAF.

They are gorgeous leggings. I would still let him wear them and advise the Nursery that they should be helping the little girl deal with her fear. What are they going to do when some child says they are scared of the colour pink? ban all pink?!

And they don't look ridiculous at all South- what a bizarre thing to say!!

  1. I love those leggings. They are so cool!
  2. Lots of boys wear leggings. Nothing wrong with that.
  3. It's possible the mum was OTT
  4. It's possible the nursery were OTT
  5. It's also possible that when you are dealing with a flighty, crying, screaming, refusing to go in child,or other extra issues is not OTT to try to make mornings as smooth as possible and try to avoid more upset. Just saying.

Op it's entirely up to you,and how much hassle avoiding those particular leggings would be.

I have dressed 9 month old DS in leggings, not lately though as I don't think they're warm enough. However I also don't get all the objections to jeans - DS has several pairs and they are all so soft, not like adult jeans at all!

As long as it's not a skull and crossbones or a dagger dripping blood then what's wrong with a shark t shirt too?! Hmm

My brother has a lovely shark face t shirt which I think I'll tell him not to was when around small children "in case it scares them!"

Hmm. Strange the person who makes these has been alerted to the thread so quickly....
And I think his thread is proof that one of the designs is considered scary by at least 1 child!

Outing myself massively here but because I KNOW there will be a load of trollhunters on here now assuming this is some kind of marketing ploy. I know Natalie, I told her about this thread - she is not the OP - I don't know the OP. As you were Grin

Of course leggings are unisex - male athletes and skiers etc wear them all the time only call them running tights and base layers.

The other mum sounds very pfb

DS2 is scared of the carol singing reindeer that they've put on his nursery door - but I'm not demanding that it's taken down! It's a learning experience, that sometimes, things are a bit scary, but there's no need to be scared of pictures.

My boy has some lovely multi-colour polka-dot leggings, and plenty of narrow leg joggers.. why wouldn't he? They're practical and cute.

SouthofMaui, how can you even tell whether leggings are being worn by a toddler boy or toddler girl, to decide whether they look ridiculous or not? Genuine question. All toddlers look much the same to me, and I think to most people. My DS is continually mistaken for a girl, no matter what he's wearing.

I like the leggings OP. My DD would have been frightened of them at pre-school age, but she was frightened of everything. I would have tried to deal with her irrational fear rather than asking your DS not to wear them

I didn't know that Mumsnet allowed free advertising for people's businesses on here either.

gracyevans linking to the etsy shop is basically saying go to this shop and all have a look = advertising.

she could have just took a picture of her phone and uploaded it

Wait...
I don't understand how OP made a thread about her little boy wearing leggings, then the producer of the leggings magically appears in this thread Confused

Um bumsex really and truly not a set up thread, but don't let that stop you painting an honest business as one which is using underhand advertising tactics instead of reporting your concerns to HQ. I can send you a screenshot on PM if you like.

I'll get it deleted.
