AIBU?

AIBU to think it's silly that DS can't wear these to nursery?

DS had some leggings on today - they're gorgeous! They have monsters on (not scary) but apparently he isn't allowed to wear them? They don't have a uniform, but apparently a Mum said that they scared her daughter Confused WTAF.

Why the hell do leggings look ridiculous on a boy? He is a toddler ffs. Who cares about his sex? What difference does it make?

I think they look great. Clothes for children are so much better now than 25 years ago when I had a small child. Envy

They are cute! Too nice to be ruined at nursery

Apparently a friend let her know. But the seller talking about her products and offering discounts is DEFINITELY advertising.

Those are fab leggings for a boy or a girl! I love them. But then my DS used to wear tights as a baby/toddler so maybe I'm one of those weirdo hippy parents Grin

I wonder does the child in question quiver in fear when she sees all the dinosaur/monster t-shirts kids wear too? Or is it just leggings on a boy that she was encouraged to be scared of by her parent Hmm

Bum, but why do you care that she was being nice by giving a code?

Yes waves ME - I LET HER KNOW - and as she doesn't use mumsnet and had to sign up to post she didn't know about advertising rules but is now asking for her post to be removed.

Advance search me if you will - I'm real

I'm not accusing someone of using th thread for free advertising. I'm saying that it is a fact that has happened. I've no idea whether the story that has encouraged everyone to say how great the leggings are is true or not.

Is this thread just a set-up for free advertising? Shame, coz I was about to ask if the leggings go up to adult sizes... (so cute, I want a pair myself) GrinGrinGrin

I don't know anything about IT, but surely a website will see many more clicks coming through and then be able to see where they're coming from in their new fangled website reports? Similar to when we have a thread about fashion bloggers.

I've bookmarked some yellow star leggings. Always happy to find new and different clothes for the DC

And I don't believe for a second that someone who runs a business thinks that a website that sells advertising would let you advertise for free.

Do threads get deleted when people link to something on Argos/JL? Or is that not classed as advertising?

Oh SouthofMaui you have made me laugh (which is no mean feat as I have a raging chest infection and almost zero lung function). Project my prejudice? As the mother of one gay child and two boys who regularly wear leggings for... prepare to be mind fucked...manly rugby? Way to miss the sarcasm spectacularly!!

Goodness me - right bumsex I'm sorry you think this is all a conspiracy for free advertising. Unfortunately MN doesn't allow for posts to be immediately removed. You know what Mumsnet say - report any concerns to us. Hopefully they will be along in a minute to say while the advertising was wrong (although why you shouldn't be allowed to comment on a post about your product is beyond me) the OP and Natalie have different IP addresses or whatever and are not the same poster sockpuppeting.

herroyalhotness Yes you're correct, I run an etsy shop and it will show in her traffic as an outside source and list the website where the direct hits came from.

The fact that OP posted about the leggings, the maker of the leggings heard though someone else and then had to set up an account to post all in the space of less than 90 minutes is where i'm struggling to believe its real.

Quite clever though really. Off to post about my wares now that scared a lady on the street today Wink

I think they're fab. Perfect for boys and girls, especially at nursery.

However, who is anyone else to decide what is or isn't scary to ? My ds2 is 3.11 is scared of Boden tshirt with a big, appliquéd barking dog on it. He loves dogs etc etc. Sometimes they get funny little whims.

Lovely for either a boy or girl but fuck me paying £13 for them. It's far too expensive!!!

The seller appearing on here to say how great the product is and which celebrity buys it and giving a money off code is what I had more issue with than the link. And no op I don't think it was particularly nice of the op to post a money off code. She is attempting to sell things for profit. Do you think shops are being nice to you when they have a sale?

What the hell? People on Style & Beauty are constantly linking to stuff, and on buggies, gardening & all number of other threads. Total over reaction going on here.

I'd be seriously concerned about the nursery if they asked a parent of a child not to allow them to wear something like that (different if it was offensive). The nursery should be dealing with child who is scared of some small black monster shapes on clothing.
