AIBU to think it's silly that DS can't wear these to nursery?

DS had some leggings on today - they're gorgeous! They have monsters on (not scary) but apparently he isn't allowed to wear them? They don't have a uniform, but apparently a Mum said that they scared her daughter Confused WTAF.

I like the leggings though....

ghostyslovesheets · 29/11/2016 19:26

why don't you they make them in bigger sizes god damn it

it's okay I have girls so obviously I am officially allowed to dress them in leggins Hmm

TheLobsterRollPlease · 29/11/2016 19:27

OP I think those leggings are cute Smile I've put leggings/under armour underneath my sons jeans/trousers/joggers when the weathers been very cold.

SouthofMaui I don't think they look ridiculous Hmm OP you can dress your son the way you like, don't listen to others!

Aeroflotgirl · 29/11/2016 19:27

How ridiculous, carry on putting him in the leggings. Sod them. Leggings are great for both sexes, practicle and comfy. They can look nicer than joggers.

ghostyslovesheets · 29/11/2016 19:28

of course you'd get different replies because I doubt the 3rd post in would suggest it's some terrible parenting crime to put a boy in a t shirt!

Iwannabelikecommonpeople · 29/11/2016 19:28

Love them. Let him keep wearing them. Scary my arse !! Some proper wankers about.

Spudlet · 29/11/2016 19:29
  1. They're v cute
  1. DS wears leggings all the time, they're very practical for crawling. He has joggers and other trousers, but I think his leggings are less restrictive
  1. I would have thought that surely it would be better to try and cajole the little girl out of being afraid of items of clothing? Unless she is too little to understand or has some form of SN?
Rattusn · 29/11/2016 19:30

Of course toddler boys can wear leggings.

Those are cute op, and not scary in any way.

GracyEvans · 29/11/2016 19:30

Genuinely not my company...

Love these!

Pretty much every boy in DD's nursery wears similar.

YelloDraw · 29/11/2016 19:31

I didn't realise boys in leggings was a thing, but frankly they look ridiculous on a boy.

On a small child under 3? Why would they look ridiculous? Comfy. Practical. Cute.

OP I love the leggings, can't be;live you've been told not to send him in them!

ABowlOfTomatoSoup · 29/11/2016 19:32

My son wears leggings. They are fantastic on him. Not heavy material and easy to play in.

Those leggings are cool. Very cool.

Hmm at anyone who says a boy can't wear leggings.

Ilovewillow · 29/11/2016 19:32

Never heard the like! They are lovely and seem perfectly appropriate and much better than trousers for playing in! My son lived in leggings and tights when he was smaller. He wore a t shirt not dissimilar in pattern today for pre-school - not an issue!

Justwhy · 29/11/2016 19:32

If you would like to know where I stand on the leggings front then I couldn't care less if you put them on your boy or your girl. I chose not to put them on my boy because I think they look like Pyjamas. He did wear tights in the winter though so I'm still allowed to stay a member of mumsnet...

I was merely pointing out how the point of the OP had been missed by most in their desperation to argue that boys can wear leggings.

In regards to the OP if my child's nursery told me that an item of his clothes was upsetting another small child then I wouldn't put them in it again because I wouldn't want to cause a small child to be upset.

The other mother seriously expects someone not to be allowed to wear an article of clothing because her DD is scared of a cartoon monster motif?! That's massively entitled and setting her DD up for problems in the future. I would just have said something like, 'don't worry monsters aren't real' and then distracted her. It's ridiculous that the nursery is indulging this. I'd let it go for the sake of a quiet life but YANBU!

4men1lady · 29/11/2016 19:34

My ds wears jogging bottoms as I feel jeans are too restrictive..but these I love! Are they suitable to the colder weather?

Oh and yanbu

bumsexatthebingo · 29/11/2016 19:35

I doubt the op knows if the other child has sn or has suffered horrific abuse or any of the many other reasons she may be oversensitive or a precious little buttercup or whatever a pp said. But so long as her child gets to wear that particular pair of leggings to nursery who cares?

glintwithpersperation · 29/11/2016 19:35

SouthofMaui, may I suggest you write a strongly worded letter about the decline of formal school uniform to the local paper. While you're at it, complain to the council about their refuse collection policy.

Soubriquet · 29/11/2016 19:36

Oh hello FredandNoah

Thank you for the discount. I think a pair will end up in my basket now Grin

They are fab

GracyEvans · 29/11/2016 19:37

Fredandnoah! Hi! Will be using that code in a bit, thank you.

Bum, I won't send him in them, I'll use some of the other ones. I don't get it, but of course I don't know her background.

Justwhy · 29/11/2016 19:38

Well Fred and Noah. A small child somewhere obviously disagrees with you on the scary front!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 29/11/2016 19:38

just

Are leggings a modern thing? I remember my brother wearing them when I was little and my son having them and he's in his mid 20's now

HomeShapedBox · 29/11/2016 19:38

The leggings are cute (although I wouldn't really call them leggings? Surely leggings are skin tight?)
