Summer country wedding. I put it to the jury - is this too bridal?

OP posts:
Patterkiller · 11/05/2016 10:45

I would, I don't think it's too bridal at all.

Clandestino · 11/05/2016 10:47

It's nice for a summer country wedding somewhere in a garden. I'd be afraid my butt would freeze to death in case the weather turned cold and rainy.

Kungfupandaworksout16 · 11/05/2016 13:36

For the ceremony - no.
For the party - yes

Although cland has a valid point , if it's crap whether which is likely you'll freeze. So try and find stuff to go with it in case of rubbish weather.

although personally I wouldnt pay £250 for that dress , because I would feel obliged to wear it at every occasion for that price tag

Foodefafa · 11/05/2016 13:39

I'm genuinely not trying to sound mean but it looks like a cheapy tea dress from New Look.

Plus it's 100% polyester. For £250.

TheCrumpettyTree · 11/05/2016 13:39

It's fine.

Hang on, it's £250?? No.

Oysterbabe · 11/05/2016 13:40

It's not too bridal. If you like it then I think it'll be fine for a wedding.

smokeybandit · 11/05/2016 13:47

Too bridal? It's not even remotely bridal. I wouldn't for £250 but each to their own. Could be nice for a warm summer wedding.

DuckAndPancakes · 11/05/2016 13:50

If I was a slim thing, that would be a pretty standard summer type dress for me to wear. It's certainly in no way "bridal"

£250 is fucking ridiculous though.

CurlyBlueberry · 11/05/2016 13:50

It's not too bridal, especially if worn with a coloured cardi/jacket. But £250?! Ouch!

SockQueen · 11/05/2016 13:51

Not too "bridal" but too short and casual for a wedding for me, unless you knew it was going to be a very informal affair. And way too pricey.

selsigfach · 11/05/2016 13:52

Yes to the New Look comment. I didn't even notice the price on the website, just thought it was a bit too cheap/tacky looking for a wedding. No way can you waste £250 on that!

backwardpossom · 11/05/2016 13:55

Nice dress, but I wouldn't pay £250 for it. It's 100% polyester!

backwardpossom · 11/05/2016 13:55

As someone upthread has already pointed out. Blush Yes to the New Look comments. I bought something similar for £5 in New Look sale a few years ago.

TheCrumpettyTree · 11/05/2016 13:59

It really is like something you could buy in new look for a tenth of the price. And polyester is clingy and gets static. There's no way it's worth that much, that's crazy.

EponasWildDaughter · 11/05/2016 13:59

Can someone do a link please? I cant find it.

EponasWildDaughter · 11/05/2016 14:00

I've found it.

TheVeryThing · 11/05/2016 14:01

The outer layer is silk, though. I think it's just the lining that's polyester.

EponasWildDaughter · 11/05/2016 14:01

I think it looks a bit 'teen'. Pretty and everything, but doesn't look £250 though. Sorry.

ProfFJLewis · 11/05/2016 14:07

I like the dress, and don't think it is at all bridal, but agree with others that it does look a bit casual. And FYI there is a dress with a very similar print in H&M at the moment.... for £24.99.

H&M feather print dress

Jessbow · 11/05/2016 14:11

The lace up bit detracts from the frilled top, which detracts from the pattern, and the price makes my eye water

Mari50 · 11/05/2016 14:12

I think it's gorgeous and not bridal in the least. It also doesn't look like its from new look and the h&m dress is nothing like it. If it looks as nice on you as it does on the model go for it!!

LupoLounger · 11/05/2016 14:12

I was wondering what I'd see when I clicked the link, as my DW 'got the ump' when my MIL wore a white/cream skirt-suit thingumy to our wedding.

I don't think it looks 'too bridal', especially if you're going to accessorize it.

That said, I dont see £250 of value in it. I could get an okay Ted Baker suit for that ;)

And with that said - horses for courses. If you like it. Just my opinion.

HackerFucker22 · 11/05/2016 14:13

It's not "too bridal" there is nothing bridal about it!

Agree it's a nice dress but it's vastly overpriced.

SaucyJack · 11/05/2016 14:14

Can you really not find anything that isn't white and isn't going to flash your smallclothes with a budget of £250?
