Those krafty bastards! The taste has changed!!! You knew it MN. My partner is so not interested in this shocking development that I had to come and talk about it here. I knew my childhood memories had not been created.

So AIBU or have they really ruined it?

And don't get me started on the apple crunch....

I don't have a sainsbury nearby but Aldi choc is fab and cheap. Cadburys is rank.

OverScentedFanjo · 21/03/2016 20:13

This is actually very sad.........kind of worse than I thought😥

NeedACleverNN · 21/03/2016 20:14

Well I'm going to be inspecting my chocolate more carefully now.

HelenaDove · 21/03/2016 20:15

Yep Zero hours contracts too Whod have thunk it Hmm

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 21/03/2016 20:17

ToastyMcToastface · 21/03/2016 20:17

I'm staggered by how Kraft have got away with this.
Amused that the first advert in the break is for Galaxy though!

Sallyingforth · 21/03/2016 20:17

Loved the Galaxy advert in the interval!

HelenaDove · 21/03/2016 20:18

Yeah Galaxy didnt miss a trick there.

SunsofAlanKey · 21/03/2016 20:19

I loved Cadbury, but now would not touch it with a barge pole. It taste just odd, not creamy and moreish just sickly.i have bought my kids Montezuma Easter eggs, more expensive but soon delicious and nothing like Cadbury!

OverScentedFanjo · 21/03/2016 20:22

So sad, they see Cadburys as an ingredient not a brand.

That's why they add Ritz biscuits as that is a Mondalez brand.

megletthesecond · 21/03/2016 20:23

The Fair Trade claims are dodgy. I didn't know there was a such a loop hole.

OverScentedFanjo · 21/03/2016 20:25

I remember Cadburys on watchdog about the fair trade/ not fairtrade thing.

NeedACleverNN · 21/03/2016 20:27

So they close our factories, hundreds of people lose their jobs and they don't pay their tax?

Why have they not been chased? Angry

RedOnHerHedd · 21/03/2016 20:27

They're bastards! I propose a boycott. It tastes like shit now anyway.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 21/03/2016 20:27

this all stiiiiiiinks

what's worse is- we all sort of knew Kraft were lying before the takeover

and nothing has really happened

so what sort of precedent does that set?

OverScentedFanjo · 21/03/2016 20:29

Pretty damming report.

But the thing is...we all love Cadburys and if they brought back the old recipe and purple foil packaging... I know I'd buy it again.

Lynnm63 · 21/03/2016 20:29

If we all stopped buying it they'd have to listen or go bankrupt. As the jobs are all in Poland anyway would we notice.

Sallyingforth · 21/03/2016 20:30

No mention of the new recipes.
No mention that the pensioners' Christmas chocolate has been stopped.

OverScentedFanjo · 21/03/2016 20:32

I haven't bought it for a few years. Since it went oily and rank.

dodobookends · 21/03/2016 20:37

Well well well - over a hundred subsidiary companies all moving money about and the upshot being that they are able to avoid paying Corporation Tax in the UK

Oh what a surprise. Not.

Lynnm63 · 21/03/2016 20:42

If we don't buy any of their products they won't have any money to move around. We won't get any more tax but they won't have a business or profits either.

wannabetennisplayer · 21/03/2016 20:43

I was mystified that the people they were speaking to in the programme couldn't taste the difference between the old and the new Cadbury's Creme Egg - even if (for some bizzare reason) you liked the taste of the new one, it definitely does not taste anything like they used to.

By coincidence, I had a creme egg today (a freebie - I wouldn't buy one now!) - The chocolate was vile - It was even worse than I remembered Sad

I feel slightly bad that during the programme addressing very worthwhile issues about workers' rights , fair trade, tax avoidance etc, in the back of my mind I was thinking 'but what about ruining my beloved creme eggs? why aren't you addressing that issue!!' Blush

MoonriseKingdom · 21/03/2016 20:49

Interesting programme - I think the half hour format with adverts limits what they can cover. It's a shame because Dispatches was an hour for many years. They didn't touch on the fall in profits or the changed recipes much. I guess taste is very subjective but the profit nosedive must indicate they are doing something wrong.

I hadn't realised just how many crappy versions of Dairy milk are around with various Kraft products shoehorned in - Ritz crackers, Oreos and various biscuits I'd never heard of.

I think the Fair Trade thing is a big scandal but really is the fault of the FairTrade logo for allowing their mark to be so devalued.

scarednoob · 21/03/2016 21:04

helena sainsburys came out well here:

www.richinflavour.co.uk/milk-chocolate-taste-test.html

Sallyingforth · 21/03/2016 22:13

That test was 2.5 years ago. It would be interesting to have it repeated with current recipes and ingredients.
