First post so please be gentle with me, sorry if posted in wrong place but need some sensible advise and fast. I was quite ill at end of feb with pneunmonia and was on a long course of anti biotics and steriods, I use Micronor oral birth control (mini pill). I know they're not effective while on antibiotics but was to ill for panky hanky anyway, I did check with pharmacist if they would still be effective for the time from my last period to start of antibiotics and was told yes so didn't think much more about it. After pneumonia cleared which was about 5 weeks until I was feeling normal again I got an oral absess which dentist said was probably due to being so run down as nothing wrong with my teeth. So another course of 2 different antibiotics, one was amoxicilin and can't remember the other ones names but was told don't take if pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the next 12 weeks as they're very harmful. Didn't give this a second thought hadn't had sex with dp for along time due to being unwell and had a period since the first lot of antibiotics. I never gave any on this a second thought until last night. I was lying in bed with dp, he was cuddling me and made a crack about me poking his hand which i didn't, but i felt it to and i@m convinced it was a knee I remeber the feeling from carrying our 3 children. I'm now don't know what to do, I'm to scared to test because i don't want the answer. I have had periods when they were due although they have been very light, sorry for spelling and so on in tears as i write this, how could i have been so stupid to of missed this.

The only way you're going to find out is if you do a test OP.

cookielove · 24/09/2015 14:47

Just do a test then you'll know!

sliceofsoup · 24/09/2015 14:49

Don't pregnancy tests stop working pasta certain point in pregnancy? Or is that a myth?

If that is true OP is far enough along for a knee to be poking her DP then a test won't tell her. She needs to go to the doc.

Allyoucaneat · 24/09/2015 14:49

You can't be pregnant if you haven't had sex?

jessifleur · 24/09/2015 14:50

If you hadn't had sex as you are saying then you can't be pregnant! If you did then you very well could be, only a test will know. Remember you're a great Mum already so you can get through this xxx

CarrotVan · 24/09/2015 14:50

Go to your GP. If you're talking about late Feb conception then you're 6-7 months pregnant and should be showing quite considerably. If pregnant you need to be assessed as soon as possible. Call now.

BarbarianMum · 24/09/2015 14:51

Love, you have to do a test because waiting to see what will happen in November will drive you crackers.

FWIW I occasionally get twinges that feel just like kicks and I'm not pregnant.

Don't worry about the antibiotics at the moment. First things first.

MyNewBearTotoro · 24/09/2015 14:52

I think you need to take a test ASAP. Delaying taking the test won't change the outcome but not taking it just means worry and uncertainty.

Take a test and then take it from there. If you have had no other symptoms of pregnancy then it sounds likely it is a false alarm but if you are pregnant it will be better to know.

Good luck and I hope everything is okay either way Flowers

LoopiusMaximus · 24/09/2015 14:53

I can sympathise with you. I didn't realise I was pregnant with ds 2, I'd had various illnesses like you and a 6mo ds 1. I was terrified to take a test but did it for 'peace of mind'. It was actually positive, I was 10+ weeks.

Tootsiepops · 24/09/2015 14:55

You haven't had sex since Feb, but you have been having periods? Is that right?

laffymeal · 24/09/2015 15:01

If you haven't had sex you can't be pregnant. Not sure what your aibu is.

Number3cometome · 24/09/2015 15:03

..

BuckyLastard · 24/09/2015 15:03

You'll have to test.

Cherryblossomsinspring · 24/09/2015 15:13

You need to do a test. It may be nothing, honestly. But if you are then I will tell you not to be worrying about the drugs you took. The main reason so many of them are not allowed in pregnancy is that there is a serious ethical issue in doing actual trials of drugs for pregnant women, so they simply avoid doing them and put 'not suitable in pregnancy' on them. The ones that they know are bad in pregnancy are usually only a problem in rare cases but even a rare case of effect on a foetus will lead to them being banned for use in pregnancy. So in all likelihood there is no effect on the baby if you are pregnant. So don't be feeling guilt there.

Just find out, you can then do and prepare what you need to if it turns out you are pregnant. If you are not, then you can stop panicking.

Good luck!

Sorry if wording was bit off didn't have six while on antibiotics plenty before and after. Will buy test on way home. I gained about 5 pounds that I've struggled to loose even though on 1200 calorie diet for last 5 weeks. If I am.pregnant I must have damaged the baby

ReRegRhonda · 24/09/2015 15:18

Just take a test.

Battleshiphips2 · 24/09/2015 15:22

I was on the pill for 9 weeks while pregnant. The information leaflet said if you do become pregnant while on this medication you will be advised to have an abortion as it will have harmed the child. He was fine and no one advised me to have an abortion. Take a test. It will settle your mind.

Plenty of women lose weight when pregnant. Usually because they are larger to start with and are on recommended diets, through extreme sickness, or through following a diet plan like Slimming World which has a pregnancy suitable version. The weight doesn't matter so much as long as you're eating healthily.

Take a test and then you know where you are

BarbarianMum · 24/09/2015 15:24

1200 calories will not damage the baby. Baby gets fed first, you second. And you won't have damaged yourself in 5 weeks either. Still, it would be better to know as then you can add vitamins/iron etc if you need them.

CarrotVan · 24/09/2015 15:24

Don't know what happened there.

hellsbellsmelons · 24/09/2015 15:27

How can you damage the baby?
From your diet?
Myself and my DD survived the first 5 months of my pregnancy on orange juice ice lollies and sugary tea. I kid you not! I could NOT keep a single thing down. She was happy and healthy and still is at age 17.
Your body will have the nutrients required so get that test and get the answers, then worry about everything else.

flanjabelle · 24/09/2015 15:30

There is nothing anyone here can say, you just need to test. Good luck op.

Battleshiphips2 · 24/09/2015 15:34

I think op is worried about damage to the baby because she thinks she could be quite far along and has been taking medication that says not to be used during pregnancy.
