First post so please be gentle with me, sorry if posted in wrong place but need some sensible advise and fast. I was quite ill at end of feb with pneunmonia and was on a long course of anti biotics and steriods, I use Micronor oral birth control (mini pill). I know they're not effective while on antibiotics but was to ill for panky hanky anyway, I did check with pharmacist if they would still be effective for the time from my last period to start of antibiotics and was told yes so didn't think much more about it. After pneumonia cleared which was about 5 weeks until I was feeling normal again I got an oral absess which dentist said was probably due to being so run down as nothing wrong with my teeth. So another course of 2 different antibiotics, one was amoxicilin and can't remember the other ones names but was told don't take if pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the next 12 weeks as they're very harmful. Didn't give this a second thought hadn't had sex with dp for along time due to being unwell and had a period since the first lot of antibiotics. I never gave any on this a second thought until last night. I was lying in bed with dp, he was cuddling me and made a crack about me poking his hand which i didn't, but i felt it to and i@m convinced it was a knee I remeber the feeling from carrying our 3 children. I'm now don't know what to do, I'm to scared to test because i don't want the answer. I have had periods when they were due although they have been very light, sorry for spelling and so on in tears as i write this, how could i have been so stupid to of missed this.

Not exactly the point, but how old are your 3 children, OP?

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 24/09/2015 19:42

Oh gosh OP what a shock for you. Congratulations! (I think?)

Hope you can get to see your GP asap and get yourself booked in for a scan.

I didn't know I was pg with dc3 until about 10 weeks (not as long I know) but in the meantime was taking an anti-d not recommended for pg and had a few drinks etc. He is totally fine.

MsMarthaMay · 24/09/2015 20:30

Oh sweetie that's such a shock but I'm sure things will seem more positive once you've had time to process everything

bottleofbeer · 24/09/2015 20:51

Metronidazole are fine in pregnancy. I had them prescribed for persistent gum boils.

CrapBag · 24/09/2015 20:53

Wow, shows that your instincts were spot on there OP.

A tentative congratulations and some Flowers.

I hope you can get some answers soon to put your mind at rest. You may not be as far as you thought, the pill may have not worked at some point. You have to take it the same time each day don't you?

BreeVDKamp · 24/09/2015 21:10

Oh OP, I'm thinking about you tonight!!Flowers

This reminds me of Arkorox's thread, she found out she was pregnant very late on too. Think that was about this time last year!

Hope you're having a positive evening, however that might manifest itself for you and DP/H tonight!

SisterMoonshine · 24/09/2015 23:30

I was taking Champix not realising I was pregnant. And felt so horrible about it. Everything worked out fine.
I hope you're okay

MiscellaneousAssortment · 25/09/2015 01:06

Oh gosh, what a shock. I hope your DP takes it well and you both support each other.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 25/09/2015 01:19

Oh gosh, you poor thing Flowers What a shock. I agree with those saying you may not be as far on as you fear. Especially if you are, though, you will need to be very very kind to yourself and get lots of support in getting your head round it (goodness, I've been pregnant since bloody January, have known since 4 weeks and am still trying to come to terms...). On the antibiotics, 'Expecting Better' by Emily Oster is a really good read - talks about different types of medication in pregnancy and what the actual risk/reason for the risk categorisation is. There's a lot of reassuring sense in there.

Main thing now is to ascertain quickly what's going on and how far on you are, and then to look after yourself (above all emotionally). Good luck. Thinking of you.

Flowers I was on all kinds of psych drugs when I found out I was pregnant. I weened off and DD is perfectly fine. Try not to worry.

Tiptops · 25/09/2015 03:05

What a shock for you OP Flowers

Can you make an urgent doctors appointment for today (Friday)? I'm hoping they'll be able to reassure you a bit, and get things in motion for a scan, without you having to go all weekend feeling worried.

AcrossthePond55 · 25/09/2015 03:36

Make an appointment, I'm sure they'll fit you in asap.

Remember that my mother's generation smoked like chimneys, drank like fish, and took 'mother's little helpers' all through their pregnancies. They had X-rays instead of sonograms. They changed kitty litter boxes. And the vast majority of us turned out completely normal. I'm sure things will be fine and a visit to your doctor will be able to put your mind at rest.

bingandflop · 25/09/2015 09:18

How are things OP? I hope they can fit you in today

hellsbellsmelons · 25/09/2015 09:32

Dare I say 'congratulations'
Flowers for you.
I hope you get to see the GP today.
Get a scan booked in a soon as you can.
Is DP with you and being supportive?

IamBubbles1986 · 25/09/2015 09:38

Good luck today. Flowers

timeou · 25/09/2015 09:48

Hope everything is OK OP, i'm sure it will be. Congratulations!

lunar1 · 25/09/2015 09:56

Wow, I know it's a shock but I'm saying Congratulations anyway!

The reason most tablets can't be taken in pregnancy is because it is unethical to test drugs on pregnant women, not because there has been a proven complication. I hope everything is ok.

Number3cometome · 25/09/2015 09:57

Congratulations OP - hope you are ok?

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 25/09/2015 10:01

LavenderRain · 25/09/2015 10:12

I became pregnant whilst taking Micronor he's 17 now!
I didn't realise I was pregnant until I was 16 weeks and was taking the pill all that time. He was fine I was in shock for 9 months

bendybootpumpkinpatch · 25/09/2015 10:32

Good luck today you must be terrified. i know i would be!

BlueMoonRising · 25/09/2015 10:41

Couldn't read and run. Hope you are ok this morning op.

INeedHelp02 · 25/09/2015 15:41

Hi all, thank you all for your kind and encouraging words. I was fitted in for a scan and I'm 29 +5 weeks it all seems a little unreal still at the moment. It was only a quick scan in the early pregnancy assessment unit I have to go for a detailed scan and booking in appointment Monday morning. To be honest that all still feels a bit like a dream but I'm sure the reality will sink in soon. Dp was as shocked as me at the news but is great full we found out before the birth.

OP posts:
HeteronormativeHaybales · 25/09/2015 15:48

29+5! Oh gosh. Flowers
Take it easy this weekend to recover a bit from the shock. How old are your three?
