First post so please be gentle with me, sorry if posted in wrong place but need some sensible advise and fast. I was quite ill at end of feb with pneunmonia and was on a long course of anti biotics and steriods, I use Micronor oral birth control (mini pill). I know they're not effective while on antibiotics but was to ill for panky hanky anyway, I did check with pharmacist if they would still be effective for the time from my last period to start of antibiotics and was told yes so didn't think much more about it. After pneumonia cleared which was about 5 weeks until I was feeling normal again I got an oral absess which dentist said was probably due to being so run down as nothing wrong with my teeth. So another course of 2 different antibiotics, one was amoxicilin and can't remember the other ones names but was told don't take if pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the next 12 weeks as they're very harmful. Didn't give this a second thought hadn't had sex with dp for along time due to being unwell and had a period since the first lot of antibiotics. I never gave any on this a second thought until last night. I was lying in bed with dp, he was cuddling me and made a crack about me poking his hand which i didn't, but i felt it to and i@m convinced it was a knee I remeber the feeling from carrying our 3 children. I'm now don't know what to do, I'm to scared to test because i don't want the answer. I have had periods when they were due although they have been very light, sorry for spelling and so on in tears as i write this, how could i have been so stupid to of missed this.

OP posts:
WordOfTheDay · 25/09/2015 23:17

Crappy Right from the original post onwards, the OP has been explaining that she was worried that she had become pregnant in February. She was, notably, alerted to the possibility by both her and her husband feeling the baby's limbs jut out under her skin, i.e. when her pregnancy test was positive, the starting point was a very well-advanced pregnancy. She was saying that and we were understanding that before she went for any scan. That is why posters were congratulating her straight away on the news of her well-advanced pregnancy.

Bit strange that they did the scan in EPAU but glad all looks well so far and good luck for Monday

How are you feeling today, op?

MiscellaneousAssortment · 26/09/2015 10:54

Golly what a shock. How you feeling OP?

Grapejuicerocks · 26/09/2015 11:34

What did they say about the drugs?

PlopsyWhopsy · 26/09/2015 22:12

sharonthewasp it's not strange at all to be scanned as she was in the EPAU, as it's the place with quickest access to scan for dating purposes like what was needed in this case

calzone · 26/09/2015 22:18

Goodness me! Am shocked for you.

Great instincts you have.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 26/09/2015 22:23

When I was pg with dd, 3 years ago...
The helpful a&e nurse said yes, those throat ulcers look really awful. No, there is nothing safe to take while you are pg. not even paracetamol.

I did eventually get some cocodamol and a better medic.

I hope you are getting sorted. And congratulations on your little fighter. Hope all is well with him/her.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 27/09/2015 19:52

Plopsy thats unusual- our EPAU doesnt even have scanning facilities you just get sent to radiology where people having bog standard ultrasound scans for any reason go

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 27/09/2015 19:56

our EPAU scans too sharon so I think yours is the unusual one

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 27/09/2015 20:00

They do scans as in order them but they dont have scanning facilities in the unit itself

Our hospital scans in EPAU too

BumWad · 27/09/2015 21:14

Not unusual Sharon epau is the most likely place op would get scanned.

This one reads as real so I don't know why posters are mentioning twins (and if it is i'll stand corrected).

Epau at my hospital does scans as well so nothing unusual in that.

Zippidydoodah · 27/09/2015 22:24

What's the twins reference?

Op, still there? Hope you're ok.

RJnomaaaaaargh · 27/09/2015 22:39

Perhaps op already has twins?

BumWad · 27/09/2015 22:39

The twins comment reminds me of when the woman at the children's centre asked if I had twins because I asked for an extra pump set so that I could double pump for the breast pump they let me.

Hmm
CrapBag · 27/09/2015 22:42

It's a troll reference. Basically quite a few troll threads have twins, there was a very recent one where the troll said her 3 year old died the year before and she had just found out she was pregnant with twins and a month later she discovered it was boy/girl twins.

I don't think this thread is at all though. Twins would have already been discovered seeing as OP has had the scan.

toastyarmadillo · 28/09/2015 06:06

How are things going op, have you managed to get your head around the shock yet?

slithytove · 28/09/2015 08:06

I've been scanned in epau with each pregnancy. Often with less than a days notice.

AliceScarlett · 28/09/2015 08:17

This is why MNHQ is really against troll hunting, because threads get a bit derailed and people aren't believed/questioned to death.

Number3cometome · 28/09/2015 11:30

I've been scanned the same day in EPAU at 3 different hospitals.

Many will scan you same day if you arrive early and wait.
