First post so please be gentle with me, sorry if posted in wrong place but need some sensible advise and fast. I was quite ill at end of feb with pneunmonia and was on a long course of anti biotics and steriods, I use Micronor oral birth control (mini pill). I know they're not effective while on antibiotics but was to ill for panky hanky anyway, I did check with pharmacist if they would still be effective for the time from my last period to start of antibiotics and was told yes so didn't think much more about it. After pneumonia cleared which was about 5 weeks until I was feeling normal again I got an oral absess which dentist said was probably due to being so run down as nothing wrong with my teeth. So another course of 2 different antibiotics, one was amoxicilin and can't remember the other ones names but was told don't take if pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the next 12 weeks as they're very harmful. Didn't give this a second thought hadn't had sex with dp for along time due to being unwell and had a period since the first lot of antibiotics. I never gave any on this a second thought until last night. I was lying in bed with dp, he was cuddling me and made a crack about me poking his hand which i didn't, but i felt it to and i@m convinced it was a knee I remeber the feeling from carrying our 3 children. I'm now don't know what to do, I'm to scared to test because i don't want the answer. I have had periods when they were due although they have been very light, sorry for spelling and so on in tears as i write this, how could i have been so stupid to of missed this.

[Flowers] for you op.

I was prescribed amoxicilin (sp?) in pregnancy will no effects.

In early days with DS I was on more than one prescription medicine not recommended in pregnancy and he was/is completely fine.

middlethird · 25/09/2015 15:52

OP! Good luck and I hope it goes well. Congratulations!!

LavenderRain · 25/09/2015 15:53

Thanks and Wine for DH!!
I work in a maternity hospital and it's not all that uncommon for some people to not know they are pregnant. I always admire how they quickly get their head around the situation!
How old are your other DC? Will you have to go emergency 'baby shopping'?
I'm sure you will spend the weekend in a trance....

cookielove · 25/09/2015 16:02

That must be a real shock, fx yourm have a great pregnancy :)

hellsbellsmelons · 25/09/2015 16:13

Wowzers - really pleased they fit you in for a scan so fast.
At least you know now and can start to let it sink in and get things in place.
Rest up this weekend.
No wonder you couldn't lose the 5lbs.

glasgowlass · 25/09/2015 16:17

OP I didn't know I was pregnant with DS2 until I was 20 weeks, GP didn't rush her referral so wasn't booked in until a good few weeks later. Told MW at booking appt that I'd been feeling lots of movement....got whipped round for a scan, 26+4! Was put on red pathway as I was deemed a "late booker" but made sure it was in my notes that it was unintentional that I was booked late. Was quite a shock!
It's amazing what you can sort out in a few short weeks, we had everything in in the space of 3 weeks. DS2 was born at 37+1 so it was a helluva quick pregnancy!
I've been in a similar position so if there's anything I can do just PM me. Flowers
Huge Congratulations to you & your family.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 25/09/2015 16:17

I find it a bit surprising that so many people were offering congratulations without knowing whether the OP wants or is in a position to have another baby. I'd think it'd be a bit upsetting to be receiving congratulations if you're considering or want an abortion.

Flowers INeed - hope you're adjusting to the news and getting over the shock. Did EPAU give you any advice as to the drugs you've taken?

MerdeAlor · 25/09/2015 16:26

Wow, that was a quick scan, congratulations.

spanisharmada · 25/09/2015 16:28

Because OP thinks she's about 31/2 weeks Crabby

spanisharmada · 25/09/2015 16:29

Congratulations OP Smile

BumWad · 25/09/2015 16:32

Congratulations Flowers

Number3cometome · 25/09/2015 16:33

An abortion at 30 weeks Crabby??

Onthepigsback · 25/09/2015 16:38

Crabby, you missed the many references to OP being well over the limit for an abortion I assume?

Congrats OP. You are due around the same time as me without the months of sickness and boring first and second trimester:) I know it's been a shock but I hope you are feeling better about it all

MadrigalElectromotive · 25/09/2015 16:41

There is quite a range of potential emotions between wanting/needing an abortion and being ready for congratulations though.

OP, glad you got some answers today. I hope you are able to get your head around this news soon! Smile

PlopsyWhopsy · 25/09/2015 16:53

Crabby, please RTFT.
Well done for doing the test and going to the GP, OP. It will be a long weekend until Monday but you can write down over the weekend what antibiotics you took on what date, and how many weeks you were at that point, so when you see them Monday you can ask all your questions.

Have a lovely takeaway/meal/junk food that you've not been eating/ looking forward too whilst on your 1200 calorie diet

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 25/09/2015 17:11

Wow what a shock for you. Hopefully it'll sink in soon.

eddielizzard · 25/09/2015 17:14

good luck for the scan. big shock of course. xxx Flowers

Jux · 25/09/2015 17:16

ah, love I hope things work out how you want them to. Good luck Flowers

FairNotFit · 25/09/2015 18:53

It's great that you got an initial scan so quickly!

Starkswillriseagain · 25/09/2015 20:12

Wow, congrats INeedHelp02. Hope you have a great remaining 10.2!

CrapBag · 25/09/2015 20:45

Wow thank goodness you found out now!

Apparently I was a birth that they didn't know about until my 'mother' went in to labour. I can't imagine anything more shocking tbh.

Fingers crossed for all being well.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 25/09/2015 22:07

No, I was referring to all the congratulations posted prior to update after the dating scan.

CrabbyTheCrabster · 25/09/2015 22:08

And Plopsy ODFOD I did RTFT. Hmm

Zippidydoodah · 25/09/2015 22:55

What a shock!! I hope you're ok, op. Flowers

SlowlyGoingINSAINIA · 25/09/2015 22:57

The midwife who cared for me during my labour didn't know she was pregnant until she went labour! (And it wasn't her first either)

Good luck op.
