migrants - AIBU to wonder how this will all work out ?

My understanding of the migrant crisis is that the majority of the migrants are coming from countries which do not, in any way, share or support Western beliefs/values/way of life. They are now flooding into Western Europe in the hundreds of thousands. Nobody knows who they are or their background in their home country. AIBU to wonder what will be the result of this ?

They are fleeing war/violence etc. AIBU to wonder why, when they reach Hungary, which is a 'safe' country, (although economically depressed), is it not good enough and they are determined to reach Germany, UK, Austria etc ?

AIBU to wonder why the majority of these migrants feel it is acceptable to stampede through European law immigration procedures to reach their chosen country rather than wait and be correctly processed in the 'safe country they have landed in ? Surely if a person has landed in a 'safe' country, after witnessing goodness knows what in their home country, they should respect and adhere to the policies and procedures of that country ?

I'm actually not very fucking happy the foreign aid budget is being used. The money that can support 1 family here could probably support 50 in the countries surrounding Libya. Or support a hell of a lot more in other countries where there is desperate poverty.

But we forget those faceless, nameless people if we're presented with a photogenic child coming to a tragic end somewhere we go on holiday. But let's forget that somewhere lots more children might die because aid has been diverted away from them. Nobody will take their picture so it doesn't matter.

You keep asking whether it's ok for Sikhs and Jews to eat blessed meat against their beliefs. You haven't said anything about supermarkets. You are saying Muslims are coming here and blessing all the meat and it's being sold in supermarkets unlabelled which isn't wholly true is it? And again, if you feel so strongly then don't buy your meat at a supermarket.

Even now you are telling me I have a problem with Muslims when I never said I did. I said I had a problem that SUPERMARKETS were selling blessed meat unlabelled. Where is MUSLIMS in that? YOU took it and decided I am against Muslims...nope I am against Supermarkets who did it. And voila point proven really.

You complained about unlabelled blessed meat, you also stated that you were Jewish. Therefore is must have been halal meat that you were complaining about as I've never heard of meat blessed under the Sikh faith being sold in supermarkets. Point proven I think.

What I don't understand is that as someone both Jewish and of an Indian heritage you must have been on the receiving end racism and prejudice. This must make you a little sympathetic.

When you found out about blessed meat not being labelled in Supermarkets LilMiss and you raised it with whoever (MN, Newspapers, Government Department, Supermarkets, etc,) that there was a problem for other religions regarding meat not being specifically labelled if it had been blessed and by whom, who called you a racist?

Kanye the aid budget is roughly 13 billion, some of that will continue to be spent on refugees sheltering in other countries and in other countries, I believe Bangladesh is one of the biggest recipients of aid from the UK.

Well, if we're bringing people here and spending money that would otherwise go on foreign aid on them (which is going to help a lot less people than it would overseas) I want to fucking well make absolutely sure that the people we're spending it on are absolutely the most desperately in need in the greatest danger. Hence I think taking screened and targeted people direct from Syria is the best idea.

It's just that this thread has demonstrated to me that our country has a dire need of people with higher levels of intelligence than our current population seems to have.

Kanye I'm not entirely sure how we are going to be able to get into Syria assess who is most desperately in need, in the greatest danger, screen and target them and bring them out? The Government are planning on taking people direct from the refugee camps on the borders with Syria, they will be screened and processed as are all refugees seeking asylum in the UK.

I don't know about IQ but the Syrian population has a high % of graduates. 40% I think. But then one of the "Muslim men won't speak to women" posters above claimed to have been to university, so I guess that is fairly meaningless.

Since when have Muslim men not spoken to women? I've spoken to a Muslim male before and last time I checked I was female.

I worry for the future of our country and it's not because of the refugees.

Sorry, I meant the camps in and around Syria. I thought that there were some camps in Syria itself in the areas not controlled by ISIS? Could be wrong though. I read that there were 7 million displaced people still inside Syria and I'm guessing some of them are going to be those at the greatest risk too.

Some Muslim men don't speak to women, or at least avoid it wherever possible, people at the extreme end of the Islamic scale do all sorts of bonkers shit including not wanting nursery age boys taught by women as it's corrupting apparently. .

You do get some non-extremist but conservative Muslims who have ideas heading in that direction. When I worked in recruitment I came across several instances of men who ignored the female head of the recruiting panel and instead directed all their answers at a male secretary/admin asst. I worked with somebody who had a problem with touching women for handshakes etc.

Some extreme orthodox jews won't shake hands with a woman. There have been threads on that before - contact with a woman they are not related to is forbidden. It's very extreme in the cases of muslims and jews, as I understand.
