migrants - AIBU to wonder how this will all work out ?

lovelyconverse123 · 04/09/2015 20:27

My understanding of the migrant crisis is that the majority of the migrants are coming from countries which do not, in any way, share or support Western beliefs/values/way of life. They are now flooding into Western Europe in the hundreds of thousands. Nobody knows who they are or their background in their home country. AIBU to wonder what will be the result of this ?

They are fleeing war/violence etc. AIBU to wonder why, when they reach Hungary, which is a 'safe' country, (although economically depressed), is it not good enough and they are determined to reach Germany, UK, Austria etc ?

AIBU to wonder why the majority of these migrants feel it is acceptable to stampede through European law immigration procedures to reach their chosen country rather than wait and be correctly processed in the 'safe country they have landed in ? Surely if a person has landed in a 'safe' country, after witnessing goodness knows what in their home country, they should respect and adhere to the policies and procedures of that country ?

AIBU to wonder how this will all work out ?

I would like to hear your calm and measured thoughts please................

Do you eat cornflakes Lil?
Might want to check that box.

Pipbin · 06/09/2015 23:12

You PipBin started the Halal meat words saying I had posted the words Halal meat and therefore I am racist and when I proved to you my post did not say those words you had to apologise because you were wrong.

I didn't have to apologise, I chose to.

What I don't understand Lil, is how you can be so anti Muslim when you are from an Indian heritage yourself.

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:12

Ok on the meat issue LilMiss:

What were you trying to prove with the anecdote about meat? Was it that Muslims had demanded the Supermarkets do this covertly and hence proof that they were somehow infiltrating, refusing to integrate, secretly forcing their beliefs on the population?

Who was afraid to raise the issue of meat labelling for fear of being called racist? I've seen it regularly raised in newspapers, broadcast news, internet forums.

Whose fault was it that the meat wasn't labelled? The Muslims, the Supermarkets, the Government?

Who/when were you called racist for raising the issue of meat labelling in supermarkets?

Did you raise the issue as an issue regarding labelling or an issue regarding Muslims?

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:14

This is all that I ave said:

David Cameron announced today another £100m of money to help them yet has cut cancer drug treatments which will affect over 5,000 of our own citizens and for future citizens who will need them too .. unfortunately he cannot find the £340m that is needed for that funding

We already share alot of our wealth as it is we have given more money than any other eu country to help the Syrian refugees and yesterday DC says we are giving another £100m whilst we are making cuts elsewhere. I don't think that's right at all.

The personal cost BertieBotts is that the government is using £100m of taxpayers money to fund aid for them whilst cutting make cancer drug treatments for over 5,000 of its over citizens. I want my taxes to help people in this country first. You think that is right to cut drugs for patients because they say we cannot afford to fund it but suddenly they can find £100m for aid?

I am referring to the 'additional £100m' that was announced and there wasn't any information on where that money was coming from. It was just an additional amount. The interview the Chancellor has given and reported today clearly states where the money is coming from and that it is not an additional amount and is part of the foreign aid budget. So that is ok but at the time that the money was announced it wasn't clear so yes my comments above were my view in regards to that announcement.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 06/09/2015 23:16

Lil, you really are angry about the blessed meat. Sure you're not just using it as a deflection technique here? Because it has nothing whatsoever to do with this thread.

I expect, seeing as you have such strong feelings about it, you have approached the supermarkets about it? Or are you just going to wait for the Syrian refugees to arrive, and get them to sort it out?

IPityThePontipines · 06/09/2015 23:18

One more thing about meat.

Meat slaughtered in the Jewish tradition (shechita) which doesn't pass kosher requirements is sold on as normal meat, e.g. it is not labelled. According to this link only 30% of meat obtained in Shechita slaughterhouses is passed as kosher:
www.kosherquest.org/bookhtml/SHECHITA_THROUGH_BUTCHER.htm

So I'm not understanding why someone of the Jewish faith is kicking up a fuss about "secret" halal meat.

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:20

And I pointed out to you repeatedly LilMiss where the 100m was coming from but you wouldn't have it, I am so glad the Chancellor managed to convince you where I couldn't but it would have saved an awful lot of toing and froing if you'd just accepted that helping refugees has no impact on the budget allocation for cancer drugs, housing, etc., etc.

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:22

I don't shop in the supermarkets anymore as my way to protest on how they have behaved about it all and yes I did write to the supermarkets and my local council.

I have every right to be angry you would be too if you were say vegetarian and all your vegetarian food you bought secretly contained meat.

I am defending Sikhs too or is that not allowed because I am not Sikh and not my problem?

I have asked several posters directly do they think it is wrong and guess what they haven't answered...why because they don't care do they and they don't think its wrong. Emoticon? Cerseirys?Pipbin?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 06/09/2015 23:25

Ok Lil - I've asked this before, and you haven't answered. What is the relevant of blessed to the refugee crisis? Because I think I can guess the answer.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 06/09/2015 23:25

*blessed meat

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:27

Now we've solved the funding issue to your satisfaction LilMiss are you now happy to unlock the door to the UK?

Pipbin · 06/09/2015 23:27

I have every right to be angry you would be too if you were say vegetarian and all your vegetarian food you bought secretly contained meat.

I am vegetarian and yes I would be angry if food marked as vegetarian secretly contained meat. However, meat was not marked as 'not halal' and then turned out to be Halal did it? And for the food to be secretly containing meat would mean that someone purposely putting meat in the food with malicious intent. This is not what happened with the halal meat.

Still, do you eat cornflakes?

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:28

Well I have asked you lots of questions and you have answered them either so I think I can guess you answer to those as well and I have already explained why I posted it several times, infact just above I have explained why I posted it but you just selectively read what I write

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:28

haven't*

Pipbin · 06/09/2015 23:29

You haven't answered my questions.

BigRedBall · 06/09/2015 23:29

Wtf? No I don't think it's ok that Sikhs and Jews are "blessed" halal meat...but that's not a "Muslim" problem is it? That's Tesco's problem. They're the ones who source the meat, not Muslims in balaclavas infiltrating Tesco stores and removing non blessed meat from packages and replacing it with halal.

I think you're just taking the piss now.

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:31

I never said the door was locked I just said we shouldn't be able to drum additional £100m for aid if we cannot do the same to deal with lack of funding in drug treatments, housing etc. because at the time there was no clarity on where the money was coming from other than it was 'Additional'

BigRedBall · 06/09/2015 23:32

Also, if you care so deeply about blessed meat, then buy your meat from the kosher butchers...or normal butchers. It's better quality.

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:32

So you've conceded that the fault lay with the Supermarkets LilMiss, not the Muslim population? Therefore, it is not their fault you ate meat that went against your beliefs is it? So, it was a Supermarket issue not a Muslim/religious issue and therefore a rather irrelevant anecdote as you have still not clarified who labelled you as a racist when you raised the issue.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 06/09/2015 23:33

No, Lil, you haven't answered what it has to do with the refugee crisis? You just ranted about halal, not halal, blessed, blah.

What has it to do with the refugee crisis?

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:34

I never said it was a Muslim problem other people read what I wrote and decided I was making it a Muslim problem...proving my point that if you write something that involves anything related to Muslims than people jump on the bandwagon that you are racist and against Muslims.

Did I ever say Muslims forced them to sell that meat? No I didn't.

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:34

I gave you the clarity on the money more times than I care to mention LilMiss.

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:38

I WROTE IT TO PROVE A POINT THAT WHENEVER ANYTHING RELATED TO MUSLIMS/ISLAM IS WRITTEN PEOPLE LIKE YOU AUTOMATICALLY MAKE IT OUT THAT THE PERSON IS AGAINST MUSLIMS. I EVEN WROTE IN MY POST THAT I WAS WRITING IT TO PROVE A POINT AND YOU ALL WENT AHEAD AND PROVED IT FOR ME.

Even now you are telling me I have a problem with Muslims when I never said I did. I said I had a problem that SUPERMARKETS were selling blessed meat unlabelled. Where is MUSLIMS in that? YOU took it and decided I am against Muslims...nope I am against Supermarkets who did it. And voila point proven really.

LilMissSunshine9 · 06/09/2015 23:40

Emotionsecho tell me where I specifically said it was Muslims that were the problem and not Supermarkets? Repost it and I will concede...........

emotionsecho · 06/09/2015 23:41

No they don't LilMiss, you tied an anecdote about Supermarkets failing to label meat with a statement about not being able to say anything against Muslims otherwise you would be called racist, it proved nothing.
