to ask if anyone has had a psychic reading that was extremely accurate?

One that could not be down to cold reading. For example, giving out very specific details such as exact dates, unusual names, basically precise facts that cannot be fished for or guessed and are not vague?

Sure, people have had accurate readings.

Doesn't mean that every. single. person claiming to have psychic powers is either mentally ill or a fucking fraud.

KidLorneRoll · 10/05/2015 00:16

*is'nt. Obviously.

TheSnowFairy · 10/05/2015 00:23

Goddess, surely your user name is too modest?

AlfAlf · 10/05/2015 00:29

It is possible to be sceptical without being so rude.

Ludoole · 10/05/2015 00:32

Personally i dont believe in psychic readings, however my dm had a reading when my brother partner was pregnant and the psychic mentioned hip problems. My nephew was later born with hip problems and required a cast for 6 months.... Lucky guess???

KidLorneRoll · 10/05/2015 00:33

I reserve politeness to people who deserve it. "Psychics" are devoid of morals; they make money by scaring people, exploiting their grief and vulnerabilities and manipulation. Scum, the lot of them.

goddessofsmallthings · 10/05/2015 00:36

Here you go Worra Brew - I've had the teapot going all day gotta keep those tea leaves coming Grin

Modesty is my middle name, SF but when I grow up I'm hoping to become a goddess of big things Wink

HowDoesThatWork · 10/05/2015 01:13

Psychics have been earning money from believers for a long time.

No psychic has been able to demonstrate any proof that they have any power beyond the rational. Worldwide fame and a Nobel prize awaits.

If evidence carries any weight then you should dismiss psychics as charlatans.

fackinell · 10/05/2015 01:29

I'm a psychic medium (I actually hide the fact these days) and I can hand on heart promise you that I don't make it up. I have seen spirit from a very young age, it used to terrify me.
My gran had it too but she used to have banshee type experiences. I remember them well.

My first one from memory was at Boxing Day dinner. My great uncle tried to wish me a merry Christmas. I wouldn't shake his hand and got taken out and told off for being so rude, I was around eight at the time. . I told my Gran that I was scared because he was all black and going to die. He did, very soon after although was very fit and in great health. He also appeared to my mum after and said sorry for not finishing her garden. My Gran was so shocked and told me that I wasn't to be like her and had to stop. I honestly thought I'd caused it to happen.

I have so many stories I could go on all night. My Granddad saving my life after he died and so many other examples of mediumship. I read the tarot too and have always given the option for non payment (privately they'd pay when I wasn't around.) I've never had one not pay.

goddessofsmallthings · 10/05/2015 01:38

Having psychic abilities can be as much a curse as a blessing - which is most probably why many deny them.

kissmethere · 10/05/2015 03:00

Yes spur of the moment tarot in a town stop on road trip. She had things no one else knew about my relationship situation and about a couple of f close friends. I left feeling reassured and clear in my head on her advice. This was years ago.

ComposHatComesBack · 10/05/2015 03:13

Sorry but the whole thing is utter cotter and defies everything we know about how the universe works. The people at it are at best misguided, and at worst heartless crooks preying on the bereaved.

fack I have no wish to be rude but developing an awareness of death and an older relative dying is hardly open and shut proof. If you really think you're a medium feel free to give me a reading and I'll happily and honestly tell you how accurate you are.

Cliffdiver · 10/05/2015 05:51

Years ago I was told by two separate psychics I would have 2 DDs. I did.

bearchomp · 10/05/2015 07:42

I saw a medium once, and the previous day I had done something that absolutely NO ONE knew. The medium told me what I had done and that my nan had seen me and it made her happy.....For those non believers, how do you explain that?

RedHelenB · 10/05/2015 08:04

I have no doubt that some psychics genuinely believe they have the gift BUT why is the only sorry from a dead person about leaving a garden unfinished or the house untidy!! As to the trainers story could so easily be a guess unless they describe the full outfit, way hair was etc etc. And why do they never say that somebody suffered terribly when tyhey died?

I;ve had woo moments BUT I vividly remember being certain that a trip was going to go badly (and looked as though I was correct cos there was almost an accident with a lorry at the beginning) but it turned out that we had a brill time. If the accident had occurred I would have said I had a premonition it was going to end badly.

DowntownFunk · 10/05/2015 08:20

The information given to me by a psychic stopped me going in a car that was involved in a serious car crash. The events leading up to it were exactly as described one week earlier, down to who said what beforehand and the circumstances of the crash. The people who were in the car escaped with minor injuries. The police in attendance told them that given the state of the car (it had rolled several times and the roof was down at the steering wheel) it was amazing they weren't killed. The same psychic also told me my brother's (unusual) name and the correct spelling.

Even given the above I don't believe in psychics.

RedHelenB · 10/05/2015 08:35

Everybody that i know who has written off a car has had the police say to them it was amazing they weren't killed!

DowntownFunk · 10/05/2015 08:52

Grin at all the amazed police.

MerynFuckingTrant · 10/05/2015 08:54

I think some people are just very good at reading people and very perceptive.
Since being a child I have always been able to know things about people without talking to them. I have also been told by several people that there's "something about me", that when I look at people it looks like I'm seeing into their soul.
I do tend to see "real" person.
I put this down to the fact that I am introverted but really interested in people so have people watched my entire life.
I reckon I could be a "psychic" if I wanted to.
I don't think there's a "gift" or anything like that.
I just think some people are really good at subconsciously reading people.

RedHelenB · 10/05/2015 09:01

Bearchomp - unless it was to float upside down in the air I would imagine it wasn't an uncommon thing!

GaryBaldy · 10/05/2015 09:06

Total cynic but went with friend who didn't want to go on her own to one of those readers in a tent at a fair.

She told me I was pregnant when even I didn't know I was.

bearchomp · 10/05/2015 09:20

red I now live 200 miles away from where I was bought up and where my nan lived but I had been visiting an old school friend in the area and on my way back decided to stop by at the park where my nan used to take me so this park wouldn't have been known to the medium as it was 200 miles away yet she gave me the exact name of it - an unusual name not just - "the park"
and told me it was yesterday, which it was.

ValancyJane · 10/05/2015 09:20

Not me personally, but my Dad (a very skeptical, logical man) had one when he was around 18 shortly after his mother had died. His older brother had taken him along - I think Dad went to make sure my Uncle wasn't just getting fleeced! It was at the Spiritualist Church, the session was recorded on cassette, and Dad remembered it being very accurate (names, birth dates, mentioning money that his mother gave him for a ticket to the FA cup final - accurate to the penny, etc). It blew Dad away at the time, and as I said he's not a woo person.

He re-listened to it about ten years later, after he had married and I'd been born, and one thing the psychic said that hadn't made any sense at the time was "the most important thing in your life will be a rose." I'm his only daughter, and was named after a particular variety of rose they were given when my Mum was pregnant (she still has the rosebush). Dad and I don't get on now, but I do like to remember that - it gives me some hope that he does actually love me despite all the twatty decisions he's made!

My Aunt (their sister) also had a reading after all that, and the psychic correctly mentioned daffodils as being my Nan's favourite flower (it was).

Who knows - could have all been a gigantic coincidence - but I know all three siblings completely believe their readings were accurate.

springalong · 10/05/2015 09:33

I have only had 1 reading which was taped. There was one part of it which was extraordinary. The reading was in done in July. My then ex h was starting a new job in August. The psychic told me that this would not work out and he would have a significant opportunity in February. He started the job, hated it and in the following Feb started his own very successful consultancy business. When we divorced years later he said that I had never supported his new venture - I had never told him about the reading but assured him with 100% conviction that I had always known it would work. The psychic also talked about other things which did come true but just not quite in the exact way she mentioned.
