One that could not be down to cold reading. For example, giving out very specific details such as exact dates, unusual names, basically precise facts that cannot be fished for or guessed and are not vague?

My brother sent me a tape of a psychic reading. The guy was unknown to my brother, he got four family names spot on and mentioned a troubled relationship with my brother and one of his children, which was correct. The spine chilling one was when he said our deceased mum was with her sister and gave the name of her sister. My brother had said previously that bit made no sense as mum didn't have a sister. However, our grandmother had a full term still born girl before my mum, she was named and the psychic got the name right. Nobody but I knew that. It gave me no comfort at all, I was disturbed and felt sad. My brother on the other hand thought it was great. It happened and I still have the recording. Must chuck it!

I once went to one out of curiosity.

Most of what she said could be cold reading. But she said a couple of things that can't have been, and were odd. One was - she said to me "You work with colour". I've been a natural dyer for years and was writing a series of articles about dyeing, at the time. (And yes I checked my hands afterwards - no dye stains!) To tell someone they work with colour seems remarkably random!

And another was that there was a dead loved one around me who was a musician. My dad was a semi-professional musician. His day job was much more mundane and if she'd said that it could have been a wild guess but really, how many highly trained musicians are there?

I can't recall anything else she said but I did think at the time everything else could easily have been guesses or cold reading.

My stepmother was told by a psychic - before I was born, I think - that one day she would live in a house with a child who would grow up to be a writer (that's me). But she was a would-be writer a la Barbara Cartland herself and insisted it couldn't have meant me, but must be a mistake and referred to her!

I know somebody who is psychic and claims to be able to tell what is going to happen in the future. I think it's bollocks because a) why hasn't she won the lottery and b) why does she worry about her future so much - she is currently stressing over her DS's GCSEs this year in case he doesn't do well.

I've watched a couple of those Psychic Sally type programmes and the same question always occurs to me: why don't these spirits ever give a last name? They're clear enough to say "tell her not to worry about that time she broke the blue mug we bought in Torremolinos in 1973" but not "It's John SMITH here, got a message for Mavis in the back row." The mysteries of the spirit world, eh

Im still on the fence even though just dropped in randomly to a spiritualists church evening, sat down and one of the mediums just pointed right at me, said I had a brother who needed to put off some decision, and said about fathers-father who'd passed away, said his real name (I just new of him as pop as was may years before i was born), which at the time i said I did not recognize.

When I asked parents, they said yes that was his real name...

I know this is a Zombie, but made me smile today.

Back in 1950 something or other one told my Mum she'd travel, live in the countryside and die in her late 70's. She went to the USA for a holiday twice, lives firmly in a city but can see a hill from the house and turned 80 today.
I'd class that as wrong on all three counts.

Had a good reading by Beth Shepherd the famous psychic medium and relationship expert a few years ago, it helped me a lot, have been back twice since then. Am a very sceptical and wary person, not into having this type of thing all of the time. Used to go to a reiki healer regularly also massage and found that very helpful in a different way. Am very into colour healing and crystals too.

Yes, scarily accurate & I even argued with part of it as it seemed ridiculous. Every single thing was spot on though & very specific, so definitely not cold reading

I had a reading in 2016 through the local spiritualist church. Before i left my house i was playing music and one of the songs was "castles in the air" by Don Mclean - not a particularly well known song.

The pyschic was speaking to my late mum and he said "you were playing music earlier today and I'm getting the line 'I love the country life'".
Which is an exact line from that song.
I've had similar accurate details from other readings.

Watch derron brown on u tube when he goes around with a physic in Liverpool. He is better at it than he is and doesn’t claim to be physic at all. It’s all cold reading.

I went to one after sil died and she knew so many things - so jury is out - they can’t all be up to no good but s lot is guesswork I think as well. Hard to say if I believe or not to be honest and I mean that!

Wow I'm shocked how rude some people have been on this thread. I have had a very accurate reading with specific information that only I knew & no-one else and dates. What he said has happened and it's scary and left me questioning everything.
