No gloating.
No blaming.

Just appreciation for a huge turnout and a peaceful process.

I suspect on the No side most of us are just feeling utter relief. No gloating in our house!

I voted no. I won't be gloating or blaming but supporting the continued work towards devolution.

The "yes" vote may have lost, but it is clear that a substantial minority of Scotland's population voted "no". So, I am hopeful that devolution will continue and that one day we can move on to independence when we are in a strong position.

Nah I reserve the right to be disappointed and a bit pissed off today.

Yes the voter turn out was great, yes a non-violent campaign is great but I'm hugely disappointed with the result.

I'm just disappointed in my fellow countrymen who let fear of the unknown take over. I don't know any no voters who did it because they actually support the union. So much for Scotland the brave!

No just utter relief here too! Still can't sleep though as keep thinking I might wake up and it was all a dream.

I hate the divide this has caused between friends and family and some of the hatred on both sides that has been shown around where I live. I just hope this can all be put aside now and let's get on with life.

My baby is due in 3 weeks (or earlier if these cramps are anything to go by!) and I do not want her born into a bitter and resentful country. We should all be proud, however we voted, that it was done with such peace and democracy unlike many places in the world.

Don't be daft. I'm telling you that Salmond is speaking to a great many disappointed people and it's important that they hear, now, that something is going to come out of this. THAT will keep fighting from the streets.

I have found the MN threads in general and especially now, a no love in (not surprising, given MN's natural constituency) and have managed to keep my mouth shut until yesterday, but been quite a sourpuss the last 24 hours

Rooty - is no idea quite how disappointed I would be today. Certainly didn't expect tears! And I've wanted independence for about a year. My dh has wanted it since he was a small boy. I dread seeing him today. Either way it went, as it was always going to be close there were going to be a large number of very unhappy people. Wish I didn't have work today, it will be a nightmare.

But mumsnet's natural constituency obviously represents the majority in scotland I'm afraid.

Lorgy that's exactly what I said. I feel like Scotland voted no because they are scared of change. That is what we needed though. Really sad and heartbroken that a country that I was proud to be part of thinks that we aren't good enough, strong enough and is scared to take a risk to make things better

I knew it would be No. and told this to many people.

I found it incredibly hard to decide what to vote tbh. I am not a passionate Yes voter.

But I feel a tiny bit depressed this morning that there won't be any chance of any change to the really difficult times my Dd is living in where we have to fight for support...maybe things wouldn't have changed but the potential would have been nice.

Then again the risks were scary.

No camp today I will not forget the many frankly shitty ones over course of campaign along lines of 'well the can eff off and we will laugh as they go bust'. Several people saying 'you mean nothing to us and wish you would go' And frankly patronising threads about haggi. Which make the union that little bit less appealing.

But I am totally sure Scotland will just suck it up and move on without all the riots predicted in some media.

So..it's fine. But could have felt more fine. If this we love you Scotland stuff hadn't just appeared now but run through whole debate. Saw many Scots people here explaining they didn't hate England just wanted to self govern.

I voted no because I believe in th union.

I was terrified of the consequences of a yes vote but at the basis of my decision was a belief that we are better together, for many many reasons. I didnt vote out of negativity. I believe many of us are the same.

Hugs Iggi. I'm not Scottish, though my closest family is by choice (mum) and upbringing (brother, sister). I can't imagine the disappointment. I said it would be a no from the start but am so desperately, desperately sad. Feel something precious has slipped away.

You have articulated EXACTLY how I feel this morning.....

We have not voted No to change.
We have voted Yes to change on a larger scale, within a bigger country which protects not just us, but another 55 million people.

I am not saying that you can't be disappointed. There is a yes thread running, if you would like to vent there. But there is a lot to be thankful for this morning.

Yes Scotland will get a pat on the head for this outcome. I'm very sad that people have voted for more of the same.

But today I'll go to work and so will all the Yessers and the Nos and we will all get on with business as usual.

I feel sad and disappointed.
