No gloating.
No blaming.

Just appreciation for a huge turnout and a peaceful process.

Amazing turnout Scotland. Hope the rest of the UK follow suit next May.

I'm pleased Scotland is staying.

Would like to get rid of Me Too from CBeebies though.

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 06:54

So relieved. And Lorgy I was voting to keep the Union.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/09/2014 06:56

Urban Thanks

evertonmint · 19/09/2014 07:00

I'm English, and had no vested interest either way. Thought it would be a no, a little worried about the short term upheaval of a yes but if that was what Scotland wanted then would have supported it. I've woken, surprisingly, a little deflated for you all, and sorry I won't get to see a peaceful independence in this not so peaceful world. I am actually so sad for the Yes campaigners - lifelong dreams now gone for a generation. And I fear that Westminster will renege on the version of devo max promised in their panic and some no voters will feel very cheated. There already seems to be some comment along those lines but I just hope they do deliver :(

Ah, best wishes Scotland! You did a wonderful thing - such high turnout, such a good debate at the grassroots (it seemed to me), showed that 16 and 17yo can take the responsibility of voting seriously. I hope one day you can all take pride in that.

SelmaMacguyver · 19/09/2014 07:02

Fanjo you have summed up just how I feel this morning, I was not a confident yes voter but am surprised at how disappointed I feel that the chance for some real change has now gone.
I hope that the 3 main leaders now live up to their promise. Sad

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 19/09/2014 07:03

I'm sorry that some of you have experience hypocrisy from the no camp.
Plenty of Brits have said all along that we don't want Scotland to leave because 'we love you' though. I really do feel that way (I'm English, live in the South) and I'm glad we're all still one family who can now open up a conversation about the future.
But I'm so sorry to those of you who didn't get the result you wanted and I know there were very convincing arguments on both sides.
Either way, what an amazing opportunity it is to find a compromise.

I'm pretty gutted to be honest.
I just hope with it being such a close outcome we are given the powers we were promised, things need to change and hopefully this will happen.

Pumpkinpositive · 19/09/2014 07:08

In the end I voted yes but was certain the overall verdict would be a no. I'm not devastated, as I was consistently no until 2 weeks ago and dithered about since then.

Congratulations to all those who took part in this historic turnout. Thanks

Thank God we live in a country where questions like this are answered at the ballot box and not by bullet or bomb.

Bigoleheffer · 19/09/2014 07:10

Hello lovely Scottish folk. I didn't have a vote but Im sad for those who wished for an independent Scotland and happy too for those who wanted to stay. I wouldn't have stopped loving Scotland either way. Here's hoping for some constructive changes promised by parliament.

LittlePeaPod · 19/09/2014 07:13

Ready. The PM has just confirmed Scotland will get the powers promised.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 19/09/2014 07:13

I am extremely disappointed. I voted yes and have been a yes from the start. I saw it as something positive and feel that we are back to the drab sameness.

I am pleased at the turnout and very, very proud that it was so high. I've enjoyed debating and discussing with my friends, colleagues and strangers in the street. It has been exciting and exhilarating.

We are a pretty devastated household here.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 07:15

I am so utterly devastated.

In will pull together once I've had a mope, slept, stopped weeping and tidied the house I've been neglecting for weeks.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 19/09/2014 07:17

I did the tidying and cleaning last night. I'll be taking a drink tonight, that's for sure.

GoblinLittleOwl · 19/09/2014 07:17

I am glad that the No vote and common sense have prevailed.
But a great many unpleasant things have been said about England, and an unreal sense of deprivation deliberately fostered for political ends, when there are so many more important things happening in the wider world which affect Britain.
It will be difficult for both sides to work in harmony, after an event which really should never have happened.

rootypig · 19/09/2014 07:17

Ah Lovley Flowers

It's devastating.

WildThong · 19/09/2014 07:18

I think many of us will be taking a drink this evening Grin

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 07:19

It's not just backbenchers that are objecting to more powers and planning to vote against them. We have cabinet ministers objecting to them too. Then there's They the house of Lords. They aren't coming

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 07:19

I need a drink now Brew

Emslifechoices · 19/09/2014 07:20

I can understand that those who voted "yes" are extremely disappointed but this whole process has been positive as Scotland will now get far more devolution than previously (which the majority of Scots want). The long process of initiating Devo Max will now start. The UK government won't be the same again I don't think. The Westminster model needs to be changed so that all home nations get more say it what happens in there part of the UK.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 07:20

I've got a bottle of champagne in the fridge.

I'll still pop the cork tonight. There's still a lot to celebrate.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 07:21

Yes there is Rita

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 07:22

It wasn't about England. It absolutely should have happen.

What's more important to Britain than the make up of the UK?

TheBogQueen · 19/09/2014 07:23

Devo max?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 07:24

I've met some wonderful people through this process and grew ib confidence knocking on doors and working on stalls.

The box has been opened, we're not getting back in.
